i did not purchase the Honeywell 16200 as its specified air change rate does not meet my requirements...
for the 40200, i would say it is much more quieter at full speed even though it is rated at 57dB compared to a stand fan which is very much more louder...
in fact, the 50250 at lowest speed is much more louder than the 40200 when in full speed...
of course, you can always anytime try out the 40200 at AAQ outlets and hear it youself on the loudness of the unit...
happy scouting...

after reading some of the view by expert, i think the good one for air purifying and cleaner must be the Austin and Sharp Plasmacluster. Honeywell is under the 3rd group and this gives some doubt for me.
But I wonder if the model in the review of the Top Air Cleaner for Sharp is the latest model?

it all very depends on your requirements - budget & performance wise...
if pocket is bit restricted, then go for value for money...
but end of the day, always go for air purifier that has a CADR rating...the higher the better...
i've got the Sharp FU-W53EW with no CADR rating and comparing side by side with my Honeywell 50250, the former only scores in having a highly sensitive dust sensor which is not a necessity...
your can read a brief product review in my earlier posting #51...

Malaysia as in other tropical countries has very high humidity. And, we do not run our air conditioner 24/7. In western countries, they have low humidity and centralized air con that do not expose their house to outside air. Hence, all those air ionizer and plasma stuff DOES NOT WORK in Malaysian house. It only works in an air-con room with air-con running 24/7. This is basic high school physic. Humidity discharge ion aka electrical charges. I had tried air ionizer in my car and it still does not work in Malaysia. Dreamer

Well, does all the marketing gimmick on air purifier works in Malaysia?
Currently with the hazy condition, will the air purifier/air ionizer good for the people?

Dreamer You have the point on that too but what is the Best Air Purifier for Malaysia weather? So we have to separate out the needs according to this : 1) Indoor ( Air Conditioning Room) 2) Indoor (Living Hall Area) I think for air conditioning room will be for the Sharp Plasma as the living hall we need air cleaner instead of purifier. Air cleaner like honeywell or the Austen in USA....correct me if im wrong.

I saw there a Medklinn product. It can be plugged into the ciggy port in the car. Was wondering how much it cost? Design looks nice too.
Anyone knows how much? Came across this from a leaflet distributed in Maluri Jaya Jusco.
Regards, Joey
p.s: AIKS! "dreamer101" mentioned ionizer wouldn't work in Malaysia due to humidity issues. Oh bummer!

i agree with the statement that all those plasma generator do not effectively trapped or remove micro particles, ie. PM < 10, from the air...as long as you have a HEPA filte, it would do fine.... for the tax issue, don't worry, as it wouldn't cost you much...check my post #716 in the below thread... http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/433543/+700in regard to the noise issue for Honeywell 50XXX model, it would be very noisy if you put in a small air-conditioned space..as for me, i'm using it for a large size area with natural ventilation only, aka fans...its sound level is just as high as the fan sound...

thanks alam, i prefer to buy the alen one with ultra violet ray to kill bacteria. i feel for the living hall and large space, the solution to clean air is to ventilate the house every morning and on the fan. as for haze, since i am mostly in the room at night, alen air purifier is the best option . honeywell, i don't think is practical because if your house is always not ventilated than this is alright.

all air purifiers are essentially a fan appliance where their power consumptions are similar to a table, ceiling or stand fan wattage rating, ie. ranging from 40W to 80W to 120W depending on your model....
