With the next game at Man City, I'm worried for our defence especially how the Cardiff City goal was conceded. Rodgers need to improve his marking system in particular during set pieces.
*
Not Rodgers... Its the players that needed to get things organized quick...

Regarding about Suarez passing the armband to Agger...
Dont see anything special on that, really... Stevie the main Capt, Agger the Vice Capt... Thats the fact we all know..
I do not think Suarez has any choice for not giving that armband to the Vice Capt once he is on the field right? icon_idea.gif

On the other hand, may the trio, Hendo Lucas and Allen able to play @ top form during the visit to Ethihad Stadium nod.gif I am ready to be dead on Friday morning when i go to work! doh.gif

Agger is definitely the better footballer but Skrtel is the more aggressive and physical defender. But if i'm not mistaken Agger is left footed where as Skrtel is right footed. So when it comes to split defense, BR probably wants his CBs to be on their natural/dominant side. So perhaps it's between Agger or Sakho for left CB. And if that's the case, i still prefer Sakho over Agger.
*
At the current form, yes, it is Sakho over Agger.

Against Man City, I guess we need more protection at the back.

So I really favor a sweeper-like role for Sakho or Skrtel though Skirt is a risk for the way he man-handle his opponents. Perhaps interchangeable between him and Sakho.

-----Agger---Sakho------
---------Skrtel-----------

Both Agger and Sakho can bring the ball forward and make passes. So it's good in situation when we need to do quick counter attack whereby, we have been outstanding so far with Suarez, Coutinho, Hendo and Sterling.

So protection at the back and let the 2 CBs bring out the ball to pass to Couts/Hendo/Allen and let Suarez/Sterling takes care of the rest.

But I am not sure if BR would do this.

Honestly, i don't think 3 CBs will work against a top side like City. The combination of their fullbacks and wide players will destroy our flanks consisting of only wingbacks. I think we need to persists with the current formation as it has produced some of the best football so far this season, maybe even the past decade. City are in scary form but they are not invisible as Fulham showed. They can be hurt. I have no idea how to stop them but i hope BR has something up his sleeves.

The only thing that change here is I traded Lucas's slow pace to Agger's long legs and fast pace, to give more protection to the back and also to bring the ball forward for quick counter. For that to happen, Agger will need to do alot of quick running for us.

Or else, Toure, connecting between the back and the front by bringing the ball to the middle and making quick exchange of passes.

Trade off would be giving Yaya too much space in the middle which will definitely render our midfield non-existent. As soon as the midfield is gone the game is lost. But then again they would probably slaughter us regardless of how we lineup. tongue.gif

Not really non-existent. Still Joe allen and Hendo will be there to do quick exchange of passes.

Well then, let's hope for the power Bookies in this match flex.gif tongue.gif

I am happy that Spurs won actually. I am wary of Soton more than Spurs. Now it's time to put Soton to where they belong. Spurs is already taken care of (for us at least). If they peak now, then it is bad news for our rivals, not us. WHen they face us next, it will be in Anfield.

when 2 rival is met.. a draw will always the best result... 1point to A , 1point to B and 1point fly away.. spurs team have so much potential it just need someone to ignite it

I still feel our best CB pairing is Sakho + Agger... Dun quite understand why Skrtel is getting games ahead of Agger..

Having say that, I will be happy if we can get 2 points in match against City and Chelsea... Anything more than that is a bonus..

And if we get 6 points, I would say Liv has a fantastic chance of lifting the title..
*
Sakho and Agger both are occupying the CB(L) position while Kolo and Skrtel CB®. At least..that's how BR sets up his team.

Skrtel always do that. I already notice from the time he play for liverpool. His style of playing football like rugby. Always want to tear opponent shirt laugh.gif
If skrtel still grab somebody like cardiff last night, sure we will giveaway penalty.
Remember how many time comentator highlight about that?sure they (referee) will discuss about that n will been pressure to give penalty if skrtel do that again. Furthermore extra help from spectator at etihad?

while we are atm top of the table, i wanna remind the fans here, to keep their emotions and expectations in check. 2 very tough away games against 2 teams who are very very beastly at home. mancity this season has been scoring goals for fun, esp at home while jose has nt yet lost at home at the bridge. for me. i will b happy with 2 draws. why if u ask me, i think the 5-0 at spurs was more of a tactical battle where avb's persistence on a defensive high line brought way too many problems esp against players like hendo n suarez n sterling who likes to run behind defenders. the scoreline was way too flattering. i dont see mancity and chelsea doing such blunders esp with defenders who are slower in pace (demichelis, terry).

i wanna say, our defense hasnt look good all season apart from the first few games. cardiff caused us all sorts of problems with direct balls into the box n as mentioned, skrtel was lucky nt to gv away penalties which on another day, would hv been given.

while we always talk about the likes of the "big 4" with ars chels manc manu, dont forget everton who are unbeatan in 10 and newcastle who is on the up. never count out manu n spurs might just turn their season around with today's win against soton.

so, if things dont go our way in the next 2 fixtures, we can easily drop to 5th-7th depending on goal difference and hence i hope everyone to keep their head IF we lose.

also. dont be overly happy thinking suarez will still be with us next season after signing an extension to his contract, if he continues to perform like this till the end of the season and do decently in the WC, i see RM, PSG, and Juve, maybe even ars and chel come knocking for his signature. and if RM fail to win any trophies, the pressure will be on perez to splash again and i dont see luis turning RM down. if we are in top4, n RM comes calling, i'll say its only a 20% chance hes staying.

then again, for now, lets all enjoy the show he and the team put on for us. it has been brilliant. come to think of it, imagine if we did actually turn up against hull and won there. we would definitely be top for xmas.

merry xmas in advanced everyone. cant wait for ars chels tmr and boxing day!

Some good points.

Also let's not forget that we're yet to play some of the other top teams at Anfield, other than mu, and we won. We're making Anfield a fortress again.

As for Suarez, i reckon that he will give us more time, provided that we make it to CL. And he might go this coming summer if we don't. Even if RM does come calling, they will pay insane amounts for him. Probably 90m.

Exactly my thoughts. If we are title contenders then so are Everton who's only 2 points off the top. If we are top 4 contenders then so are Newcastle. One reason to be optimistic is that we have had games against our top 4 rivals (all but United) away from home in the first half of the season, if Anfield is a fortress which is looking the way so far then our chances look good for top 4. Another way to look at it is our home form might look flattering because we have yet to play the top teams at home.

+1. Someone who speaks common sense here. Table standings can change quickly at the blink of an eye indeed. If RM comes knocking next summer, at least we know we will not let Suarez go out cheap ala 40mil + a quid but then we can always shoot down the fishermen at our whim.
