Good game overall, great first half, foot off the pedal for second but understandable to conserve stamina. Shaky defending though from set pieces. Skrtel's wrestling gets me nervous every time.

QUOTE(solstice818 @ Dec 21 2013, 11:03 PM) QPR was okay actually... it's just that their previous manager a certain hughes signed too much high wages players... QUOTE(dillonyong @ Dec 21 2013, 11:07 PM) QUOTE(hfi @ Dec 21 2013, 11:07 PM) Well at least Tony Fernandez behave with dignity and understands the game, VT seems to treat everyone beneath him which goes against the very nature of the game itself. Football is all about community and people the connected to the game - take away that and you take away the soul of the game which is exactly what VT is doing at Cardiff. Yes QPR for overspending so nothing wrong with VT wanting to stick to a budget but shame on him for changing the tradition of a club and the way he conducts club affairs in public. As for Blackburn, well we all know... |

Not the first time we've seen Sterling's first/second touch lets him down after running clear of the defense. That's definitely a part of his game he can learn from Suarez.

How is Sturridge gonna fit back into this 4-3-3 team on fire?
Tough decision for BR. |

QUOTE(dillonyong @ Dec 21 2013, 11:46 PM) That's easy actually. Problem with that is Coutinho doesn't do as much pressing and hassling as Allen. He needs to be up there linking with the forwards so Hendo will have to drop deeper but in doing so we are missing out on his energetic off the ball runs which creates a lot of space for Suarez.Suarez----Dannyboy----Sterling (all 3 inter-changeable) ----------Couts---Hendo----------(hendo, up and down) -------------Lucas---------------- Nowadays, formation is just on paper. Look at Luis. He was Midfield, he was left wing, he was striker, he was all over the place. Danny plays best when in position to pounce. Sterling's pace will compliment them both. You can imagine how much more freedom Luis will get with Defenders having to mark Danny as well. Then you got Couts who can pick 3 pacy players upfront with his passes. |

QUOTE(dillonyong @ Dec 21 2013, 11:57 PM) You forgot Dannyboy is speedy as well and quite good in finding Suarez as well as finishing from far. He brings with him almost 2 or 3 defenders, freeing up Couts in the middle and Suarez at the side. One thing for sure is we have options. With everyone performing, they are gonna continue pushing each other to perform even better. When our captain comes back, I would love see him doing defensive cover in midfield together with Hendo and see how it turns out. Afterall, he came out as a Defensive Midfielder first before converting into attacking one. With Steve, if perfectly fitting into defensive midfield, we have 3 pass master to play with 3 pacy finishers. That makes us absolutely delicious. |

QUOTE(AnythingK @ Dec 22 2013, 01:52 AM) So who is the man of the match? Definitely Suarez. Yes Hendo got himself 2 assists but those 2 assists still left Suarez with a lot to do and he struck both shots brilliantly.Watch the goal highlights, the first flick/cross from hendo is good, as for the back heel, its kinda normal. But the Sterling goal, it came from Hendo too, that kind of pass I can only always see from the like of Sneijder and Kaka, now that's impressive. Passing from the right side of the right leg, Sneijder always did that, and its exciting to watch. Suarez could just finish off the 2nd goal, but he passed it to Sterling instead... |

QUOTE(reehdus @ Dec 22 2013, 05:03 PM) I think we have a fighting chance against MCity. They're beasts and will likely tear us apart, even without Aguero they have Negredo and Dzeko. But one weakness which was highlighted today against Fulham was the RB spot. Without Zabaleta and with Clichy filling in...that may be our best chance with Sterling. In our side, I think Skrtel is a potential problem. The way he was manhandling attackers all night, I'm worried he's gonna easily give away a penalty in this fixture QUOTE(lerijiso @ Dec 22 2013, 06:20 PM) Skrtel was so lucky to stay on the pitch yesterday and not conceding any penalties or OGs. He was manhandling Caulker all night long and even tried to kiss him at one point. I find it shocking that the ref did not penalize him...we were very lucky i must admit. He might not be so lucky in the future..Its crucial that he tone down this aspect of his play in the next few games. Injuries to Zaba and Kun will help us a bit. I can see us nicking a win in this game but its going to be tight. QUOTE(bitebug @ Dec 22 2013, 07:07 PM) Aggger, Sakho/Toure for City game. The way Skrtel played yesterday, we are gonna concede a penalty every 5 minutes. Penalty? Even conceding a free kick in a dangerous position could kill us. Anyone notice Yaya's free kick taking this season? Deadly! Skrtel really needs to cut his dirty acts out. |

QUOTE(dillonyong @ Dec 22 2013, 10:15 PM) The only thing that change here is I traded Lucas's slow pace to Agger's long legs and fast pace, to give more protection to the back and also to bring the ball forward for quick counter. For that to happen, Agger will need to do alot of quick running for us. Trade off would be giving Yaya too much space in the middle which will definitely render our midfield non-existent. As soon as the midfield is gone the game is lost. But then again they would probably slaughter us regardless of how we lineup. Or else, Toure, connecting between the back and the front by bringing the ball to the middle and making quick exchange of passes. |

QUOTE(daryl23 @ Dec 23 2013, 04:13 AM) while we are atm top of the table, i wanna remind the fans here, to keep their emotions and expectations in check. 2 very tough away games against 2 teams who are very very beastly at home. mancity this season has been scoring goals for fun, esp at home while jose has nt yet lost at home at the bridge. for me. i will b happy with 2 draws. why if u ask me, i think the 5-0 at spurs was more of a tactical battle where avb's persistence on a defensive high line brought way too many problems esp against players like hendo n suarez n sterling who likes to run behind defenders. the scoreline was way too flattering. i dont see mancity and chelsea doing such blunders esp with defenders who are slower in pace (demichelis, terry). Exactly my thoughts. If we are title contenders then so are Everton who's only 2 points off the top. If we are top 4 contenders then so are Newcastle. One reason to be optimistic is that we have had games against our top 4 rivals (all but United) away from home in the first half of the season, if Anfield is a fortress which is looking the way so far then our chances look good for top 4. Another way to look at it is our home form might look flattering because we have yet to play the top teams at home.i wanna say, our defense hasnt look good all season apart from the first few games. cardiff caused us all sorts of problems with direct balls into the box n as mentioned, skrtel was lucky nt to gv away penalties which on another day, would hv been given. while we always talk about the likes of the "big 4" with ars chels manc manu, dont forget everton who are unbeatan in 10 and newcastle who is on the up. never count out manu n spurs might just turn their season around with today's win against soton. so, if things dont go our way in the next 2 fixtures, we can easily drop to 5th-7th depending on goal difference and hence i hope everyone to keep their head IF we lose. also. dont be overly happy thinking suarez will still be with us next season after signing an extension to his contract, if he continues to perform like this till the end of the season and do decently in the WC, i see RM, PSG, and Juve, maybe even ars and chel come knocking for his signature. and if RM fail to win any trophies, the pressure will be on perez to splash again and i dont see luis turning RM down. if we are in top4, n RM comes calling, i'll say its only a 20% chance hes staying. then again, for now, lets all enjoy the show he and the team put on for us. it has been brilliant. come to think of it, imagine if we did actually turn up against hull and won there. we would definitely be top for xmas. merry xmas in advanced everyone. cant wait for ars chels tmr and boxing day! |

QUOTE Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says he is down to 17 fit players as Jon Flanagan battles a hamstring problem ahead of the Boxing Day trip to Manchester City. Flanagan, normally a right-back, has started the last six games at left-back as Jose Enrique recovers from knee surgery. But the 20-year-old hobbled off during Saturday’s 3-1 win over Cardiff, and will be assessed ahead of Thursday’s match at the Etihad Stadium. Rodgers said: “Our squad is very thin at the moment. We’ve got 17 players, which is unfortunate for us, going into a busy period. We just have to assess young Jon Flanagan. Leading into the game against Cardiff, he had a tight hamstring for a few days. “He was fit enough to start play, but he felt it a little bit during the game, so we had to take him off. We need to assess that over the next 24 hours. None of the guys who have been out have returned, so we’re quite thin on the ground.” http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1662421/...players?cc=4716 |

QUOTE(dillonyong @ Dec 27 2013, 03:22 AM) Hard to say really. Scoring against City is like poking a hornet's nest, who can say for sure they won't come all out and still outscore us even if we went 2-0 ahead. But a great game that could have gone either way. There were some positives for us for sure but we need to sort out our defense in set pieces and in counter attacks. Chelsea will definitely be looking to hurt us on the break the way they parked the bus against Arsenal. |

City's worst victory at home was a 2-0 win against Hull so yeah we definitely gave them the toughest home league match of the season, definitely more than Arsenal did.

QUOTE(dillonyong @ Dec 27 2013, 03:48 AM) Again, dont let the few errors cloud your judgement. I am not being positive crazy here. Fully agreed. Apart from that sloppy first touch he was immense for us today making some crucial interceptions. For those questioning why was Agger on the bench, it was probably decision based on merit because Skrtel and Sakho has been working for us the past couple of games. But after today BR might wanna give Agger a chance at the Bridge next week but I still think we should stick with Skrtel and Sakho.Look at the whole game again. Sakho started many movements from the back successfully. 80:20 I would say. 20 was at the end when his sloppiness almost cost us. But judge him on the whole match. He's a rock. Glen Johnson hasn't been the same since the injury. Martin Montoya anyone? |
