RM5k for speakers and amp?

if it is only for speaker, you can try out starke 5.1 speaker. its going for RM5999 which i think is a good buy. it looks really good.

Speakers only. Av receiver easily 2-3k already 😅

Guys, quick question on speaker and amp compatibility.

Let say i have LCR speaker- 6ohm 40w-160w and surround speaker 6ohm 30w-120w.

And i want to upgrade to a RX-A3060 yamaha which specs says Dynamic power/Ch(Front L/R, 8/6/4/2 ohms) = 175/220/295/410w.

Is it advisable to use the same speaker, as power is almost the maximum speaker can handle? or am i reading this wrong? i am still learning a bit. appreciate any sifus guide...

dont worrry about it. it is safe because when an amp is rated at 200w per channel, doesnt mean that it will output 200w constantly.

you may only get max 200w when there is a sudden burst of loud sound from the movie. even so, it will not damage the speaker as these are very short burst of just few millisecond.

it is more worrying if the amp is underpower as this will cause clipping to the amp. when an amp is operating near clipping output, distortion will be exponential and these distortion will damage your speaker.

Thanks bro. good knowledge.. what is consider underpower? if my speaker is rated 8ohm 15-250w, but amp is 165w 8ohm.. will these be prone to operate at clipping output?

now i know why people are using these big power amps...hahahah . i thought it was just for additional power. but in a way it is to prevent these clipping output..tqtq.

most of the good speakers do not write the rated power but instead will write the sensitivity of the speaker.

the lower the sensitivity (example:86dB and below) the harder it is to drive the speaker and will require lots of power to play it loud. a rough estimate: you will need to double the power from 50W to 100W just to increase the loudness by additional 3dB.

so if you have a speaker which is about sensitivity of 85dB, you will probably need about 200W to play it well but if you have a speaker that is about 91dB, a good 50W will be sufficient.

8-9k including or excluding the receiver?
You didn't state any room size, dimensions and listening preference which are all very important... so any recommendation is basically just down to assumption.

So to play it safe;
Q Acoustics 3020i L/R
Q Acoustics 3090ci Center
Q Acoustics 3010 for surrounds
SVS sub - either SB2000 or PB/PC2000, according to your room size, dimension, floor space and what not.

Bro. The Q Acoustic 3050i Cinema package i read the review quite good. Style Laser is selling them for Rm7499. But im from Sarawak, it mean i can only trust the online review. However, in kuching there is Sound Fusion. They recommend me the starkesound echo 5.1 which sell for RM5999. I try to find review online, unfortunately dont have a single review. Sound Fusion previously sell alot of Q acoustic, but they told me starkesound is alot better than anything under RM10k.

Anyways I plan to replace my current living room setup. Pioneer Vsx-323 + Pioneer Andrew Jones speaker which i believe is entry level HT from SenQ last time. laugh.gif

I've only heard Starkesound briefly, no in-home experience with them. So I can't comment on it. But contact Tan from Sound Fusion, super helpful and friendly guy. Maybe you can go to his place for an audition? Also if that's the case, you can also look for Rythmik subs from him.

I recommend QA because they are the "safest" type of speakers to suggest. Meaning, they aren't like Klipsch or SVS Prime speakers where they have elevated treble nor are they warm, dark speakers like Wharfedale or Cambridge. QA does everything decently, but doesn't excel in anything. That's why it's so important to state room size, dimensions and listening preference when asking for speakers and sub recommendation.

Starke Echo 5.1 was a good choice to consider because it has far exceeded many conventional 5.1 system with an ultra compact subwoofer giving you the punchy and energized bass and Echo speakers also inherits the tweeter material from its high end HALO series producing clarity sound stage. Beside having a good AV gears, you will also need to have a proper calibration and acoustical treatments in order to achieve good sound quality. Sound Fusion are very good and professional on calibration and acoustical treatment. I would suggest you to drop by to their showroom to check it out and maybe you can also make an appointment with Tan directly and I believed he will happily assist you!

basically it is possible.. need to cut off the connector as that connector is not common.. it will left u with red n black cable which u can connect to other device like ur old stereo amp or component. Investment on an avr for these speaker set not really worth.. in conclusion yes its possible but your option is limited.
