QUOTE(hannchua @ Aug 29 2018, 06:44 PM) As I have been spoiled by super high-end systems after visiting the KL AV Show, I'm more of a movie guy now... Thank you for the information! I'm okay with bright as I like to hear the shards of glass flying towards me LOL Isn't Actsessory in Subang Jaya? You seem to know Mr. Chong very well..... SS14*** I don't know how my phone auto-corrected to SS2. Yes I know Chong quite well, very friendly and supportive guy too. The Ultra series aren't as bright as the Prime series (which in some cases can even be borderline harsh). I really like the Ultra bookshelves and center, great speakers that does everything well really - just not super exceptional for certain content. You should also check out KEF R series if you are into the higher-end spectrum for HT setup. If you really want to go super loud and not be afraid of blowing the voice coils (i.e reference volume at a very big room) then check out JBL Pro line of speakers.

QUOTE(hannchua @ Aug 29 2018, 06:44 PM) Planning to upgrade my towers in the future but the center channel is somewhat lacking so that's why I'm looking into a more capable center when watching movies loud ( as in non-hurting volume lol) I appreciate both audio and visual though... I have sensitive hearing... Is it a gift or curse? I wake up in the slightest sound, can hear very quiet noises and they bother me... After experiencing OLED, I can't go back to LCD anymore haha! As I have been spoiled by super high-end systems after visiting the KL AV Show, I'm more of a movie guy now... Thank you for the information! I'm okay with bright as I like to hear the shards of glass flying towards me LOL Isn't Actsessory in Subang Jaya? You seem to know Mr. Chong very well..... Sometimes the lacking is not because of the speaker but it might be because of not tune properly

Dear all, newbie here.
Any recommendations for
40inch tv, thin bezel as possible, budget 2k to 3k
5.1 speaker system, budget 2k to 3k
only install in small living room of a Condo, so space is limited.
Thanks.

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Aug 28 2018, 05:16 PM) Many who are serious about HT in Malaysia are already using SVS subs. Not only because they great subs, but because htkaki is a fantastic in customer support and an overall super friendly dude. Sure we don't have as many choices like in the US where you can get JTR, Seaton, Funk, PSA, Hsu and so on... you're kinda spoiled for choices there in the west, so SVS hasn't really been the king in price-performance as it once was. But it's no denying that their subs are still great. Unless you can ship in something from JTR or Seaton (and if you can, you probably have super deep pockets anyway so you might as well hire someone to DIY you some monster dual 24" subs instead), otherwise I don't think you should pay anymore for subs other than SVS - in Malaysia specifically. An alternative is Rythmik which is being brought in by Sound Fusion these days and I'm mighty impressed with the FV18HP. Yeah, the Fv18hp was impressive with clean and accurate bass! Are you planning to get 1 for yourself? QUOTE(sonerin @ Aug 30 2018, 06:01 AM) Sometimes the lacking is not because of the speaker but it might be because of not tune properly I second that and once it was properly tuned, even a basic setup will sound good! I'm not as deep loaded as some of the other sifus here! I moved my dual SB2000s to a smaller room. I'm currently using dual PB4000s.

Do u mind to share some photos of your setup? Will update pics when possible. These days extremely busy, barely at home most days. Really miss them speakers... my ribbon tweeters collecting dust. The dual SB2000s in a smaller room is just temporary, I still don't know if I want to sell them or keep them. I really do like them for small rooms and for a more low-key experience - like listening to music or just watching non high action movies/dramas. The PB4000s are obviously in another league and it's pretty much all the bass I want and need - until I got poisoned by the FV18s... This post has been edited by SSJBen: Sep 21 2018, 03:06 PM

So your PB4000s setup is in the living hall or dedicated HT room? Yeah FV18 was impressive though... can trade your pb4000s for Fv18s... mayb you don't need to top-up much also... QUOTE(hannchua @ Aug 28 2018, 07:41 PM) I really hope that speaker companies do not follow the fate of Oppo digital... Now I can't find a competing uhd bluray player but the Cambridge Audio CXUHD. I want to future-proof my system but it seems like it's the format wars happening all over again, so I haven't pulled the trigger to get the player... How about the Panasonic UB820?

Thx RM5k for speakers and amp? if it is only for speaker, you can try out starke 5.1 speaker. its going for RM5999 which i think is a good buy. it looks really good.
