Phew! Finally came to the current end of the thread.

Firstly thanks all for sharing your valuable knowledge and honest reviews.🙇🏻‍♂️🙇🏻‍♂️🙇🏻‍♂️

After contemplating the 378 pages, I am leaning towards VK for the Corolla Cross.

FWS : V 55
FS & RS : V30
RWS : V30

Really appreciate if fellow users, SA or (anyone for that matter) could comment about the following points-

1. You guys think the configuration can detect Smart Tag? Mine is the old bulky one. Yes I dont mind slowing down at the gate or holding the smart tag close to the windscreen.

2. More importantly, confirm no issue with phone GPS connection?

3. Would prefer darker one than the 35.8% VLT of the V30 for RWS. Any advice from sifus? Is there a V20 or V10?

I am in Setapak area. Can anyone recommend where I should go for a good deal and decent workmanship?

Planning to collect the car tomorrow and straightaway go tint. Not really in a hurry tho.

Thanks in advance. Such great thread *thumbsup*

Check the tint IRR %. If 95% above, definitely u will need to wind down the window when using the smart tag. From own experience, 90% IRR is max for using the smart tag.

Gps should not be an issue.

Vlt unlimited% from rear window to rear windscreen. I put the darkest for rear from privacy.

Thanks for sharing.

Looked up vkool website (link from their FB page) for authorised dealer. Only 2 addresses listed. One in PJ and one in KL. Is this really the case?

Ayamm do you mind sharing where did you get your car tinted and how much were you charged?

I only take the local brand cz wife bought a local car. Take their top spec tint at rm900, IRR99% TSER around 67%, verified on meter. Still work great. Brand Totalgard

My other car with Wingard Royale with IRR90%. This one able to work the old bulky smart tag without any issues, installed it back in 2015. Still ok

If anyone in KL, Melaka or JB is interested in getting their car tinted, I recommend to check out Alva Concept Store. They specialize in car tinting, coating, painting, but  they also sell car accessories as well.

Prices are reasonable and they're currently having promotion ~50% off their normal prices, with warranties ranging from 5 years to lifetime warranties!

Got my new Myvi 2022 tinted using Alva DY series that is from the US and using nano ceramic film with lifetime warranty at ~RM1.8k (normal price is 3.6k), IRR 98%, UVR 99.9%, UV block 400nm, 4mil security film (this is their highest spec tint).
Verified the specs using the infrared scanner machine post-tinting and turns out to be true.
Also GPS and SmartTag-friendly (verified on NS Highway).

P.s. You can use my code "JVD7250" for an additional 15% discount.

Feel free to PM me for further enquiries!

Don't they have a tinted promotion ongoing back then for RM188 or RM488 depending on the Heat Rejection / IRR?

Are these prices just a clickbait tactics to lure customer in or are they legit? sweat.gif

Visited a place today that does irispro and got a quotation from them. They first sat me down and brought out a meter that checks the tint for uv, heat and light.

Took out 3M crystalline vs irispro and the uv rejection on iris is much higher than crystalline.

3M was 3.6k and iris pro same level is 2.4k.

Am I being scammed?

No idea but my gut instinct told me something is up. No way a product can be this good when the big brands do not promise super low uv and high heat rejection

Which 3M shop did you go to? I’ve been told there are many fakes out there hence I am still surveying.

Oh I was talking about irispro. The way they test their tints very weird. How can one use a meter vs how the sun is?

Look for 3M StarBlaze Kota Damansara. The price they give is probably gonna be cheaper than Iris Pro for full Crystalline. Original 3M Crystalline when sprayed with water will have a lot of rainbow/golden coloured droplets. I have no experience with Iris Pro, but if you don't want to try your luck and discover a shit brand, go with 3M and find an authorised dealer smile.gif

I'm using VKool 40 for my front windscreen.
I did my tinting at VKool distributor, NVK in KL
On certain SmartTag toll like DUKE, can't really detect at all using my bulky SmartTag.
But on NKVE, it can detect my SmartTag if I placed it touching the windscreen

the expansive vs cheap tint is more to durability, will the cheap tint with good spec survive after 2 years or lost it IRR% after that. Installed one of the cheap tints via Groupon last time, with IRR90%, at the Subang Jaya outlet. 1st year it works great but, in the 3rd, almost no tint. but considering the price at rm200, its ROI already, car was park mostly at Lumut Yard.

I have irisPro on 4 of my family cars... 2 of them with the Elite series, and the other 2 with the UVPro series. So far so good, the first one installed in Feb2019. Heat rejection seems to be consistent so far.

If you're worried, you can go back to them to do the same meter test after a few years, as they provide 10 years warranty for the Elite series anyway.
