To be safe, ask them if there is any degradation warranty covered?

Last time can saw plenty of great spec tint on Groupon, yes verified with meter for 90-95% IRR. Problem is after 2 years almost gone its strength to reflect the heat

Hiall, i just got my new CRV...
& i have almost zero knowledge on car tint😅

Was quoted the following:

1)
3M Crystalline Film full car RM2300
Front - 3M Crystalline 70
F.Side - 3M Crystalline 60/50
R.Side - 3M Crystalline 40/20
Rear - 3M Crystalline 40/20

2)
Or take up the FOC offer by Honda Salesman:
3M Ebony (Heard is the “value” package by 3M)

Will there be a big difference of heat rejection if i take up the 3M crystalline?
Oh, will i still be able to use Waze if i use 3M crystalline/ebony? Heard got GPS interference. (I dont use Smart tag, only waze)

Thanks all sifu🙏🏻

Decided to try out Hamel to satisfy my curiosity. Do look for dog999 if you want to get your tinting done at a decent price. He does provide several options from different brands.

Royale Series
Front 70% VLT
Sides and Rear 50% VLT

The staff were really friendly and accommodating, despite my elementary Mandarin. No flaws from their workmanship so far, but gotta wait and see how the tints perform in the long run.
*
I've been using Hamel Royale for the past 3 years for my CX-5.
Mine are 70% VLT for FWS and 30% VLT for the rest. I did mine at Seksyen 15, Shah Alam.

The service and workmanship are excellent, but for FWS, best to park the car under the hot sun for 3 to 7 days to get rid of the trapped water and air bubbles.
No complaint so far for the price and quality after 3 years. My white colour Stormtrooper bubble head toy that I put on my windscreen still keeping its white colour (not changes to yellow), i.e. the UV protection for the FWS tint is very good.

My only complaint is that if you expect the photo-chromatic tint to behave exactly like the photo-chromatic glasses from Zeiss, Essilor, etc use in spectacles industry, you'll be disappointed biggrin.gif
The effect is very subtle and hard to notice using the naked eyes as the stock windscreen normally already has some kind of UV protection from the factory

What is the spec of the tint of yours? the IRR and TSER?
Does it perform well for noontime, similar to says 3m crystalline?

IIRC, the quoted IRR for Hamel Royale is 97%, while the TSER is 62
I can't comment on 3M as I've no experienced with them

I use 3M crystalline, the heat rejection is good. Waze GPS phone have no problem. Smart Tag 100% confirm not working.
My housing area's RFID is working when placed inside windscreen, not sure about tng RFID.

Ya, 3M ebony is value version of 3M, never try before.
Mine is front 60, all side 40%. If you worry JPJ can get 70/50/20 for peace of mind. If let me choose again, I will take 50/40/40.

RM2300 is worth it, provided they really provide you 3M crystalline.
Few thing to check, ask for invoice, see got eWarranty or not, and google if the shop is 3M authorized shop.

Considering getting a tint. I understand RayTech not that great from here, but it's definitely the cheapest!

I don't think I'd like to spend more than 1000 on tint. The main thing I'm looking for is protecting the car insides from UV because I have leather seats.

The VLT is mainly just for privacy.

Are there any recommendations for cheap quality brands?

For example, if I keep my budget at under 1k which brand would be best within that range?

Is it due to my CX5 windscreen or you choose CR70?

I tried 2 different tolls, both way. Smarttag not working. I gave up and open a hole on my CR60. Ugly sad.gif

im using the newer one, not the bulky old. im aware that the old one much more efficient than the old one.

the newer ones, i hold as the same position as my windshield. same angle degree. practice this with my other cars including this newly installed crystalline. never faced "TIADA SMART TAG" problem.

the 3M installer also warn me about this issue, however when i tried it, the smart tag works. dont know lah sweat.gif lol.gif

if it the case, i believe the new one c/w lesser IRR %? Ie <97% IRR as crystalline? The value of IRR is the reason smart tag will not work as it uses the infrared signal. For metallize tint, in my experience, 90% of IRR will work well. 95% some new toll will be stuck.

I just change windscreen few weeks ago, redo the tint at 3M authorized dealer.
So I guess should be due to the crystalline series you choose or car's windscreen.

From the 3M website spec, all crystalline series is IRR is 97%, except CR90 is only 90%. Not sure if they secretly reduce the spec tongue.gif

Max is 5 years. Even the best like vkool will degrade after 5 years. No such thing as long as the car
