New hrv honda owner here

Planning to get window tint, but quite noob in this matter. Really appreciate advice/quotation here.

Ive asked my salesguy to quote a tint for a budget 1.5-1.6 k. Refer attached for brand and specs. (rm1500, warranty 7 yrs, heat rejection 85% , U.S. film)

Any other brand that you guys recommend or quote base on my budget?

Thanks guys.[attachmentid=4371355][attachmentid=4371356]
*
from my experience, never take the sales guy recommendation, esp it is RM1.5k-1.6k. Top up rm500 can take those famous one like, 3M, Vkool, Raytech etc or just go for RM600 no brand one. My brother paid RM1.8k tinted for his BMW for some unknown brand, like your case recommended by sales man. Whether is Psychological or for real, he complaint it is hotter compare to his previous car's Vkool, and the money paid is not worth.

Agree with you totally.

I too come from V-Kool (2 cars) to Huber Optik (2 cars).
V-Kool is the best and the most expensive.
V-Kool is metal base, it can oxidised, thus stain can appear on the film.
Because it is metal base, it can cut heat better than non metal base films.
*
ya, V-Kool is really good, price also good lah tongue.gif .
My V-Kool since year 2009 till today, still no any kind of stain etc, smart tag friendly too.

how can v-kool elite tintied as cheap as RM1100. Is it fake one, how can u prove ur v-kool elite tinted is genius
*
The price is for windscreen only, are you sure it is cheap? I did 3M last year, RM500 for windscreen only. RM800 is the crytaline grade, I took lower grade one tongue.gif

what type of 3M you put at your windscreen.. might try on my windscreen. is it a smart tag friendly? thanks
*
Sorry, I not sure the name of my grade, I only remember they told me the best grade is crystaline. I opt for lower grade (RM500 compare to RM800), also because this is not my daily car.
This car change name of ownership, and puspakom tear off my windscreen old vkool, side window pass the test. I kind of regret choosing the lower grade one, because this compare side by side to my Vkool (already 4 years) side window, the old VKool feels cooler. Anyway, I get what I pay for lo. Just dont expect after tinted, you car will become super cooling tongue.gif

Ya, it is smart tag friendly, but about 90% la, but I dont think it is the tint problem. Should be the smartag problem, sometimes battery weak, sometimes that smartag toll lane just want to screw with me biggrin.gif

Hi all, need opinion from experience ppl
Waiting for my honda accord to take.

As im frrquent traveler johor and kl
Request for 3m scotchshield crystalline price from few shop
3m masai johor 3k+
3m kulai johor 2.5k
3m pelangi johor 4k (say real original)
3m plentong johor 3.4k
3m sungai long kajang 2388
3m balakong 2k+

Very confusing price different. All are 3m shop.
*
Did you try the one at tun aminah, skudai? I was quoted 2.4k through phone straight, no bargain (as I knew 2.4k should be the lowest).
As my rear windscreen old tinted need to remove, they cant guarantee they wont damage the heater stripe. End up i just tint my front windscreen with them.

They are nice and use the equipment to test my VLT (around 85%) and IR (10% iinm, means 90% rejected) with old tinted.
After remove & tinted with the 3m crystalline 60 for front windscreen, they test again and I saw my VLT become just 55% and IR become just 0.2%. (means 99.8% rejected shocking.gif )

Quoted just last Saturday.

after u tinted the windscreen, hows the smart tag signal...smooth when pass by toll?
*
First time I drive my usual speed, failed. Said no smart tag detected, and I straight stop and reverse.

Today I drive really slow, at first show no smart tag, but I just continue move forward a bit (saw other ppl comment)
At the end detected and barrier opened.
Smart tag touching windscreen.

Later I am gonna try my usual speed, but continue move forward see can or not.

how does 3m compare with huper optic
*
I use 3M CR60, good. Can feel the different, compare to ayam brand + lower spec's 3M (not crystalline).
But my smart tag cant detect, drive very slow also cant detect. cry.gif

Never try Huper Optic before.
So if you not using smart tag, dont mind the price, go for 3M crystalline series.

Thanks. If so many of you are doing then I suppose enforcement is lacking. I may try 60% for FWS and 40% for the rest. Budget 1k-1.5k. What choice do I have? I suppose 3M and Huper will be 2k+ for a sedan? What's the opinion on Raytech around here?

I see many 3M deals on Fave for just a few hundred ringgit. Can't be true can they?
*
3M cheap one sure fake or lower grade, which imho not worth it at all.

My previous car, retint my FWS with original 3M but lower grade (Not crystalline). It has watermark 3M on the film, is listed as authorized 3M shop. Under sun while driving, hand got burning feel.

My current car, I also retint FWS, but this time with crystalline CR60. Under hot sun while driving, hand no more burning feel.
So for 3M, either get crystalline or just get other brand. FYI, smart tag being blocked by CR60 film mega_shok.gif

what lower grade 3M tat u installed?

Not sure the grade. RM500 for FWS, still feel hot.
FYI, that car FWS v-kool tinted was peeled off by puspakom, while side window's v-kool remain. I retint FWS with 3M (RM500), felt hand hotter with 3M FWS compare to side window's v-kool.
So I doubt the 3M ebony will be good.

Like I said, either get crystalline 3M or try other brand.

Hiall, i just got my new CRV...
& i have almost zero knowledge on car tint😅

Was quoted the following:

1)
3M Crystalline Film full car RM2300
Front - 3M Crystalline 70
F.Side - 3M Crystalline 60/50
R.Side - 3M Crystalline 40/20
Rear - 3M Crystalline 40/20

2)
Or take up the FOC offer by Honda Salesman:
3M Ebony (Heard is the “value” package by 3M)

Will there be a big difference of heat rejection if i take up the 3M crystalline?
Oh, will i still be able to use Waze if i use 3M crystalline/ebony? Heard got GPS interference. (I dont use Smart tag, only waze)

Thanks all sifu🙏🏻
*
I use 3M crystalline, the heat rejection is good. Waze GPS phone have no problem. Smart Tag 100% confirm not working.
My housing area's RFID is working when placed inside windscreen, not sure about tng RFID.

Ya, 3M ebony is value version of 3M, never try before.
Mine is front 60, all side 40%. If you worry JPJ can get 70/50/20 for peace of mind. If let me choose again, I will take 50/40/40.

RM2300 is worth it, provided they really provide you 3M crystalline.
Few thing to check, ask for invoice, see got eWarranty or not, and google if the shop is 3M authorized shop.

Is it due to my CX5 windscreen or you choose CR70?

I tried 2 different tolls, both way. Smarttag not working. I gave up and open a hole on my CR60. Ugly sad.gif

im using the newer one, not the bulky old. im aware that the old one much more efficient than the old one.

the newer ones, i hold as the same position as my windshield. same angle degree. practice this with my other cars including this newly installed crystalline. never faced "TIADA SMART TAG" problem.

the 3M installer also warn me about this issue, however when i tried it, the smart tag works. dont know lah sweat.gif lol.gif
*
I just change windscreen few weeks ago, redo the tint at 3M authorized dealer.
So I guess should be due to the crystalline series you choose or car's windscreen.

QUOTE(ayamxxx @ Nov 19 2020, 12:20 PM)
if it the case, i believe the new one c/w lesser IRR %? Ie <97% IRR as crystalline? The value of IRR is the reason smart tag will not work as it uses the infrared signal. For metallize tint, in my experience, 90% of IRR will work well. 95% some new toll will be stuck.
*
From the 3M website spec, all crystalline series is IRR is 97%, except CR90 is only 90%. Not sure if they secretly reduce the spec tongue.gif

Nope, I install my RFID inside. I’m using detachable RFID holder. Never fail to read my RFID at all. I’ve use at KL and North South highway didn’t face any issue.

Your 3m is crystalline 50 or 60?

Nope. Just stick it using rfid holder.

Mine Windscreen is Crystalline 60. For RFID, some toll is smooth, some need almost stop. Wonder if Crystalline 70 will be faster

Getting a new car and considering Rhinepro Black Beauty. Brochure given is 50%, 35% or 20% VLT. I'm thinking either 50% or 30% for JPJ compliance but am wondering if anyone has used it, and what's the difference of getting a thicker film?
*
FYI, my car go through PUSPAKOM 2 weeks ago. Windscreen is Crystalline 60, door window is Crystalline 40.
Windscreen and front 2 door window tint kena teared off.
So I doubt your 50% VLT is JPJ compliance.

QUOTE(dev/numb @ Mar 30 2023, 11:15 PM)
For driver, front windscreen is the one that gets the most heat and glare. JPJ rule VLT70 for front is really too low, even with the TSER from those expensive (V-Kool, Llumar, 3M) brands. My mom’s current car using 3M Crystalline 70 at the front she still complains of heat. Next tint job for her incoming car I plan to follow JPJ for front window (VLT50) and back (VLT30), but the windscreen I intend to make a bit darker. Example, if IrisPro Diamond series, my plan is 60 for front windscreen + windows and 30 for rear seats and backside.. My mom is old lady, so maybe JPJ just lepas her. If kena then kena la. just replace the front one only.
*
I did 3M Crystalline 60. I also think not enough.
*Touchwood* If I claim windscreen insurance again. I gonna change front to Crystalline 40 like all my 4 side window. Since Crystalline 60 also wont pass JPJ already.

hi guys,

My car currently tint is
Front = vkool elite
driver/rear window - vkool 55
Already used for 7 years, recently want to do car name transfer, can PASS Puspakom?

Thanks
*
Most likely cannot pass puspakom.
So far never see any tint can pass puspakom. Even my crystal clear, cheapo, tinted-non-existed, 10 years old tint film also kena tear during puspakom checking.

Hi all,
Seeking some tint advice here.
Anyone has any comparison or advice if I'm to choose between 3M Crystaline series -vs- RayTech QX, QC, Mx, Mc series?

Many thanks
*
If price are similar, of course get 3M Crystaline series.
Just need to know smartag not usable for 3M, not sure RayTech

Just get from authorized 3M shop for peace of mind.
