Ah its true like this. And one more thing, is it normal that it interfere with rfid on the front windshield? I got no problem driving through rfid lane before installing CR70 at the windshield, but after i seems to not detect..wondering if its because of the tint?

Why your RFID is place inside the windscreen? Should not it be place outside?

And yes, 3M Crystalline will likely interfere with both smart tag and RFID.

Just got a Honda City Sedan 2023, got three choice of tint package presented to me, both in Puchong area:

Care Kool:
Nano Ceramic Top Spec: Whole body RM 2100
Multilayer Sputter Top Spec: Whole body RM 2800

V-Kool:
Whole body RM4200 with any combination (Elite, 55, 40, 30, 10).

M Pro:
Nano Ceramic Top Spec + Coating package: Whole body RM 3400

Was thinking of V-Kool since its more reputable, but my only concern is there are many complains about RFID, phone reception, GPS etc issues using V-Kool due to the metal material. Nano Ceramic from Care Kool or M Pro seems to be the safer option, but their brand is not as reputable as V-Kool, I am not sure if V-Kool has improved their technology that can mitigate their GPS issue, because I travel outstation frequently.

Ya last time I also considering replacing my old tints with VKool back but VKool pricing is really super expensive nowadays. So cannot afford anymore.

You can also consider IrisPro for 2K to 3K budget , I myself considering replacing my old VKool tints with this brand, likely the Elite series.
Not so sure if smart tag can work but for Elite Spec, one user and say smart tag worked on Elite series. Need to check with the brand if smart tag really worked on Elite series 70 VLT spec once my budget permit.

Irispro gives 10 years warranty on Diamond and Elite spec, not just on workmanship but on performance (IRR and UVR), so that is very impressive. You can check it out too.

For VKool, the front screen, they use lower spec (VKool-75) to allow smart tag to pass and higher VLT (abt 77%). At least, to my knowledge, that is the spec they use 10 years ago for Front Windscreen. Vkool-70 got problem with smart tag.

If you are using the latest smartphones like 3, 4 years old at least, GPS got no issue. Old phones like Samsung Note 8, GPS sometimes got problem but the latest phones like S22, etc, no issue at all on GPS. Stronger updated GPS signal, I guess. Smart tag no problem.

For residential RFID, ya, Elite should still be using VKool-70 for all sides and rear. So RFID most of time don't work, at least for me, even for front FWS. I have to wind down side windows. For one of my other car, prev gen Vios with factory tint, no need wind down.

Tbf any tint with 99% IRR sure wont work for smart tag. Cut hole not help much
*
Actually I'm not sure about the 99% IRR really cannot get thru smart tag coz if I'm not mistaken, the boss of Irispro mentioned that their tint used different spectrum at 1400nm for IRR. Smart tag uses something like 900nm (not sure). So smart tag can go thru for their tint at least on Elite and Diamond / new Diamond X series. So it's about the spectrum used for the IRR. 3M might be using the same spectrum of IRR as smart tag (at least that is what I'm told). The Diamond 60 with 96% IRR can go thru smart tag (still slow down at lane like VKool Elite). They mentioned their new Premium tint, DX series with 99% IRR is also smart tag friendly. Not familiar with this spectrum thing tho.

I'm have been looking for a premium tint replacement for my old Civic FD's VKool Elite. VKool is now priced so high, only rich ppl can install.

So after searching for a while, I decided to go for Irispro premium Diamond series metalic sputter-based tint.

Even my wife say I'm crazy to reinstall a high price premium tint on an old car but I'm going to use the car until I cannot afford to maintain it (kaput)...the last Civic with double wishbone rear suspension also still the best CKD built quality vs the now much degraded CKD built quality of H. The very much well maintained car don't know can last as long as the tint warranty or not... tongue.gif

Anyway my windscreen got stonechip crack and directly thru Irispro, the manager liaise with Dr Windscreen to replace the windscreen (happened to be, I used to change windscreen and repair stonechip at Dr Windscreen Puchong branch for years, excellent workmanship). This allow Irispro to deduct the extra rm300 from my Tint Package from the windscreen insurance claim. A one stop centre.

Irispro arranged for Dr Windscreen to take new Windscreen to their Setia Alam branch, they then pre-tint the windscreen. Next day, I go to their Setia Alam branch and Dr. Windscreen actually have a new mobile unit that installed the pre-tinted windscreen directly at Irispro centre, save lots of time for me. Also doing the pre-tint before windscreen installation will be much neater and cleaner for the tint coz they no need to go into car and do tint with dashboard in the way.

So I reinstalled the rest of the tints in the Civic with Diamond 60 for front tint and their new (not even in their website) DX series (security tint I guess coz using 4-5 mil thickness) for the rest.

The new DX series uses Silver sputter instead with even higher IRR. So I got D60 for front, DX60 for front side windows and DX30 for rear side and rear windscreen. The D60 and DX60 has a slightly greenish and brown hue while DX30 has brown hue. The tints have a more mirror like reflection on the outside vs VKool. I used D60 for front coz.....they never told me of the supposedly higher rated silver-based sputter tint until I'm there. Too late, still D60 is has higher VLT than DX60, noticeably so even on paper it is on 2% differences.

They do a great job removing my 15 years old rear demister tint....now don't know demister still work or not but on surface, no demister line broke, good workmanship and lots of luck (Civic FD has thicker demister line). Darn sakit hati seeing they remove the entire rear seats AND rear dashboard to remove and install tint coz the bloody 3rd brake lamp blocked installation.

On side note, pls don't do Windscreen replacement at same time as tinting. Even when the staff stop tinting when Dr. Windscreen do Windscreen replacement and worked after, dust still got thru. So kena re-tint my front side windows the week after. Rear all ok coz by time they do that, it has been hours since Windscreen change, also dark tint, harder to see dust speck.

The device test for my front Windscreen has VLT 56%, IRR 96% (D60 VLT rated at 60%, IRR96%). Never bother with front JPJ compliancy at Puspakom as long as it is a clear tint that won't get stop at road block. My VKool Elite failed even when it is rated at 75/73%. Only 80% tint can pass Puspakom but those tint is almost useless for heat resistance.

The new DX60 tested front side has VLT 48%, IRR 99% (DX60 VLT rated at 58%, IRR 97%). Cialat, I tot 58% is safe for 50% JPJ compliant, now dropped 2% lower than expected. Heard Puspakom has 10% allowance, meaning 45% safe...don't know true or not. If next time want to change ownership, have to cross finger.

The rear DX30 has VLT of 22%, IRR 98% (DX30 VLT rated at 25%, IRR 97%). Dark enuf but still clear to see outside at night. Don't ask me why the supposedly darker DX30 has lower IRR than supposedly lighter DX60 99%.... sweat.gif

DX series are priced slightly higher than original Diamond series by a few hundred. The D60 front and DX series cost me near to 3K but the reduction from insurance claim helped a bit. This is definitely premium tint pricing.

Oh. Now on 2nd week, lots of small water bubble on my demister screen still there but tech say will go away in a month or so or faster under hot sun. I do parked in cool car porch, car no used for the week until now. Front pre-tinted windscreen is done well coz they can do tint and clear water without obstruction. So are the sides.

Nice suggestions for the windscreen replacement under 1 stop center. I usually end up with low brand tint after replacing the windscreen under insurance, as the shop can't helping me take the existing brand of tint. My solution kinda hard work, is by pay and claim. Pay for windscreen replacement then next 3 days after the glue is harden, went to the tint shop for tint installation.

Send all the receipts to my Insurance, Etiqa, get back the claim within a week a so.

U mentioned 96% IRR need to slow down for smart tag, I still thinking cz Smart Tag use Infrared for signal while it block 96% of it, hence the need to slow down. No idea for the newest tech for tint spectrum. I rather use RFID or open up my window when using smart tag. Trauma hitting the toll barrier when the smart tag is failed due to tint reason.
*
Did that years ago, too troublesome. Nowadays using fast dry glue, still say 3-5 days don't wash car but rain ok. Nowadays heavy rain worse than wash car. So keep car at home porch for 5 days... sweat.gif

Actually I select the tint first, then approached Irispro to liaise with partner to do windscreen replacement. Luckily one of their main windscreen partners, Dr. Windscreen has mobile service that can do windscreen replacement at client place. All my problem solved (I also good with Dr. Windscreen as I used their service few times with good result). Price is I used premium tint....if use cheap tint don't know they want to do that or not... whistling.gif

The lady manager say their DX60 with 99% IRR (I tested with side windows), on windscreen, smart tag can pass coz different spectrum. I'm going to install that on my other car windscreen in near future. If cannot pass, will ask them to replace with D60 at their cost coz that one proven can pass liao... biggrin.gif

Still using metalic-based tint means I cannot stick RFID on windscreen, will give problem. Luckily all my cars has it on the front left lamp.

Oh...its the same pretty girl manager mentioned by dev/numb. Very helpful and friendly. Got problem, won't dilly dally, straight change...

Am about to tint my new car. Initially was thinking to go back to Raytech as I had good experience with their tints, but after reading some comments, I decided to check out HuperOptik. Got a quote to tint C40 on all windows for 2.4k for a new Civic. What do you guys think?

The spec for the C40 seems mediocre so my primary concern is heat under sunlight of course, would it be sufficient? I've used Vkool before but not expecting it to be on par but how much hotter can it be?
*
Can check out IrisPro if you are going for higher end tint especially if you are in Klang Valley. The specs are high, metalic-based sputter tint (generally better heat resistance). The best alternative to VKool that I have check out so far. All my cars using VKool Elite but too expensive nowadays, so looking for nearest alternative (3M is one but smart tag got issue, so no go). The manager of Klang Valley outlets are the same person. Responsive and very helpful. That is why I recommend.

At the 2.2K to 3K, you can go for Diamond Series (nano-titanium sputter), Elite or the new Diamond X is using silver sputter that has even higher heat resistance but have risk of oxidation.
However they take a risk and give a warranty of 10 years for that.

The tint has extra HEV Blue Light Protection. Really can consider if going high end. So far I already installed for 2 weeks. Diamond D60 in front and D60X/30X for the rest. Heat resistance is good. The tint is darker tho than VK Elite at 56%, but still looks clear. Can use the Elite tint for front windshield if want lighter one.

Sadly I am not in KL. Will need to do this in PG or wait for a week or two before I go back to KL  I'll see if there's any in PG. Also, you did for your Civic? How much was it?

Old Civic FD.

Full price near to 2.9K including removal of very old tint (done perfectly, no demister damage) coz I choose the DX Series for the silver metal.

The Diamond series is 2.6k++. Elite abt 2.3k++

Can mixed them but might different colour hue. Anyway even DX30 brown hue, inside also brown colour, different from DX60, greenish brown hue already. Unless you tint the entire car with the same type of tint with same VLT tint.

Penang got, based on the website. Can check it out as an option. It is premium pricing and there are other cheaper tints but if want VKool metal-based sputter (with supposedly similar or better performance), then I think this is the closest with half the cost. The 10 years warranty for the premium series, Diamond, DX, Elite does give some peace of mind and confidence in their product.

Thanks bro. Just talked to them. They recommended Diamon C60/30 for the car and quoted 2.8k. I think it's along the lines of what you mentioned above. So this would be a step on top of huper/raytech/ecotint you reckon?

I don't see D60x on their site though. Is it like the latest and greatest?
*
Ya, reckon but in reality I'm no expert on this. Just been surveying for quite awhile since my the proven VKool Elite is out from my budget. So try to go for the next best tint, very few metalic-based tint around. The specs looks great but specs really don't say too much...see those house brand...all super great spec but never last or don't really work well.

Spec wise, yes, it should be above them but in reality not truly proven yet. The other brands have been long proven (some say good, some say not good...as usual). Wait till 4 or 5 years later I come back review...hahaha.

The 10 years warranty with 10 years performance warranty is one of the key reason I choose this also. That indicate confidence in their product and trying their best to establish themselves in the local market. Hopefully they are still around 10 years later... sweat.gif That is the risk I'm betting on to replace VKool Elite.

DX series not listed. Very new, silver-based instead of nano-titanium....its a mixed sputter anyway, all in but with mostly silver as main ingredient. They mentioned higher heat resistance, better IRR (proven with test kit) but got higher risk of oxidation like VKool. That is where 10 years warranty comes in. Diamond nano-titanium less or no risk of oxidation.

DX is more like security tint coz DX60 is 4mm and DX30 5mm vs Diamond 3mm.

If you really go for it, then nego at least RM2700 or lower if you are using sedan. If mid size SUV, not so sure, maybe bigger size more pricey.
If do at Puchong, JB or Setia Alam, can contact their manager, Lay Ling. Sure can nego to that price for sedan, SUV size don't know.

My price although not much discount, they did a lot for me, arrange for windscreen change at their shop, handle windscreen change documentation, remove old tints, pre-tint, tint claim from insurance, etc. One stop center for my windscreen change, claim and do tinting at same time.

I see, you got alot of services along the way. I am getting my Civic this weekend so I guess it's a small sedan?

Noted on the Dx series. I am thinking go to Diamond on the front and the rear screen and maybe something cheaper for the windows since light penerate most from the big screens front and below. Am thinking to go UV90 but the VLT seems either 35% of 55%. Will have to go to their shop to check it out to see how dark it is. Somehow, diff brand of tints differ even at the same VLT.
*
Civic mid-size lar...but most treat price same as small sedan, not axia small but city small.

The DX30 at real life VLT is about 22%, D30 should be a 2% higher kuah. I tot very dark...but not really. From outside can still inside car albeit not so clear, not the 5% dark tint, hard to see. Inside not so dark, brown lighting coming in instead of dark green or just dark like ecotint. At night no problem see at rear screen, quite clear. I think the VLT is just about right, not too dark and not too bright either. If you light brighter lighting like VKool Elite clear around, then better go D60 or above. That is still darker than Elite coz it adds up to 56% VLT. Still bright, but not as clear.

If you intend to use dark screen at rear, then can use the D30. Cut the light by a lot but don't give the dark enclosed space phobia that some really dark tint might have. Just go D60 front and front side, D30 rear and rear side like what most ppl did. Only the front windscreen not JPJ compliant but then any tint at 70% already not compliant. Only 80% can make it.

If use different type of tint for the side, make sure the hue color or lighting penetrating into the cabin is the same color....Wait rear brown color light come in, side green colour come in, might be weird. Even the brown lighting of DX30 and front DX60 clearer/slight greenish lighting already give me a bit of weird feel bit maybe I'm not used to 2 different light penetration in the same car. All my prev tints same type for whole car.

Also 1 of my main reason for tints if UV and Heat penetration that fade the car accs like dashboard, leather seat (heat). So getting a good TSER and high UV all around helps the car seats and door material too....IMO. But in real life, not sure side windows tints matters or not. I just prefer full long term protection since this is going to last at least 10 years (the warranty is 10 years mah). Already get a good car, don't skimp on that...maybe that is why I always go broke...hahaha

Am not worried so much about outside cannot see inside, am worried about I cannot see outside clearly when night comes, Lol. I remember my friend tinting dunno what brand tint and her windows were dark as hell, prolly VLT 25% or so. At night I can't really see outside also. Dunno how she drove.

I'll ensure the hue to be roughly the same. I never really take note of the hue in my previous car but then again I have the same tint for all the windows but thanks for the headsup. I might just bite the bullet for all diamond series but see if the boss can give some extra goodies or not. See if he can PPF coat my headlamps to prevent it turning yellowish in the future.

Technically I am downgrading from an Accord to a Civic. Wife's not happy and say it's not nice but it is what it is. lol
*
Semi Luxury to youngster car...but I love CIVIC, just a bit too low, knee macam giving way in near future.

I worry also 22%+ will be too dark at night. Surprisingly, OK wor. Clear enuf at night, got no issue when I drove home from KL to Klang at 9pm and reverse car into car porch. Definitely much darker than clear tint but manageable. It's not the the ecotint 5% dark.

Did my tinting with IrisPro and took up the Elite50 tint. They did not have the Dx60 and I reckon Dx30 was too dark for my liking so the next best is Elite50. Did not have the chance to test the performance since it's raining quite a bit these days.
*
Not sure how u like it, but I used VKool Elite for all my cars until now. The DX30 at 22 and 21 VLT are surprisingly not as dark as I expected. The penetrated interior lighting is just brownish, just darker brown than the front DX60/D60 but not the the "black" dark. No feeling of claustrophobia at all, even with black color seat of old 2006 City. It's definitely not the Honda Ecotint 5% dark.

No lar, at least not VKool Elite and Irispro Metal-based tint. My old Samsung S2 faced GPS problem with VKool but Note 8 onwards got no issue. Now using S22 Ultra, GPS signal not effected with Irispro and VKool Elite.

Hi , i am looking for tint for Honda city. No ceramic series. I prefer metal series with heat rejection, as compared to Ceramic series with heat absorption.

I didn't use smart tag, used RFID. GPS is a must nowadays.

PM me for your brand, TSER, IRR and VLT, and other relevant spec, and price of course. Klang Valley area here. thanks

If you want metal-based tint, I think only VKool and Irispro. RFID cannot stick on windowscreen, metal-based tint got interference. Smart tag, no issue at all.

It's really bright from the inside of the car. From the outside, can see the darkness but from the inside, it's surprisingly clear and bright. Night time driving is pleasant as well.

Only complain is that there are alot of bubbles on the film. Not sure if it's cause I park in the basement and not get enough sunlight. Also, I might be wrong but somehow, Raytech performed better..........  :S the Specs on Irispro is higher than my previous Raytech film but i did not sweat in my old car under clear sunshine, now, I feel sweaty under same condition........
*
The sweat thingy very hard to say unless you re-tint and compare with same car with same air-conditioning, weather, etc.

I can feel the car MUCH more cooler and heat resistant but that only compare with my old VKool Elite (the VKool very old liao anyway, not fair comparison). So for heat resistance, its good, as a reminder, I'm using their premium DX series (Silver mixed sputter tint with 5mm thickness).

The side windows got no bubble but the rear demister windscreen has lots of water bubble. The demister line interfere with the removal of water properly kuah.

I'm using DX30 with 5mm think, the manager explain the film will take at least a month or 2 before water bubble dried off coz thicker film. The water bubble reduced by half now after a month...and ya, I parked under cool porch and basement most of the time, so might take awhile. Some more now not much sun.

For my newly tinted old City, much less water bubbles. I think its the workmanship in removing the water during tinting not that efficient during Civic installation. The front windscreen tint using D60 pre-tinted 1 day earlier is perfect without a single bubble.

However workmanship in removing the old tints from both my old Civic and City are perfect, over 15 years old and demister still intact.

What about Smart Tag?? won't metal absorb more heat than ceramic?
*
Ceramic tint absorb heat, metal-based tint reflect them.

Based on Irispro explanation, usually smart tag got blocked by metal-based tint is also partly because the of IRR wavelength used. Smartag uses wavelength at 950nm or something like that. 3M metal based tint supposedly have high IRR AND used the same wavelength as smart tag thus it interfered directly with smart tag.

If the tint uses different wavelength (Irispro uses 1400nm) for the IRR, then, there is no clashes no matter how high the IRR is. Thus even if the IRR of the Irispro premium diamond series is at 96%, my Civic screen does measured at that range, it can go thru Smart tag, no issue.

So you have to check for different brand metal-based tint, some can go thru, some cannot.

My old City with few years old VKool Elite Windscreen measured 63% VLT, UVR 99% with IRR 98% with the same Irispro meter.

Now I also understand why VKool Elite stating 71~75% VLT cannot pass Puspakom. After installed, the VLT actually drop so near to 60%. No wonder those 80% tint superhot like not tint and Elite worked so well coz its way below JPJ compliancy rules.

Anyway, I tot VKool Elite supposed to be IRR94% or something tho. Don't know what IRR reading they are showing. Might check with them later.

but under hot sun, isn't metal feel very hot???
*
Metal especially silver, titanium, etc reflect most of the heat first and absorb/conduct the remaining. Silver is in one of the better heat conductor and reflector, thus silver are used in many application that to reflect heat, the only problem is it can be can form silver sulfite that looks like rust (but not rust, just tarnish/discoloured) when exposed to air and humidity. Titanium has no such issue in discolouration but is lower in heat reflection than silver. Other good metal conductor like copper and brass worked great too but they tend to form a greenish film when exposed to environmental element, so not used much in metal tint sputtering.

Metal does feel very hot under hot sun but reflective metal reflect most heat first and then absorb the remaining. Metal conduct heat thus can cool faster too. Silver and white cars generally tend to be cooler than dark coloured cars. That is science. Metal feel hot but also dispersed the heat faster.

Do note most metal sputter tints tend to have a mixture of metal inside, not just one type but will list the primary metal used in the sputtering process.

I talked like I know a lot about metal based tint....in reality, since I go tint premium metal-based tint, just google can get the info to try justify my purchase lar...hahaha..

In a nutshell, MOT/JPJ so-called VLT for front windscreen spec makes no sense. Might as well set the rule strictly no color tint film allowed than giving false hope. I read Llumar and 3M have 90VLT film, spec sheet for 3M show 86% means if I install it. Final inspection should be 76-14 which is 62VLT. Wonder Puspakom would close eye for extra 8.

Anyone willing to share 3M, LLumar front windscreen only price?
*
The side 48, 47 can pass kah....becoz the vendor accidentally do full 5mm DX60 tint (with extra clear tint to form security tint) for my Civic FD. I don't want security tint, I want JPJ compliancy at least for the side windows. Their device read VLT 48%. Then for my old City, I specifically instruct to use only the DX60 tint only without the extra layer for side windows. VLT is 54%.

If next time, change owner name, don't know the side windows can pass or not. Heard Puspakom have 10% buffer for leniency but not so sure. Heard their device tend to read lower result than shop measurement tool.

I already give up on JPJ compliancy for windscreen tint coz my old City VKool Elite showed 63%. Failed even before using Puspakom meter. So just go tint the Civic with D60 CLEAR tint with reading of final 56%. Still look clear (not dark tint).

If using car for long term and parking under hot sun, cheap tints might not protect dashboard colour from fading.

Not to mentioned, its ok to keep changing tints but for rear demister windscreen, everytime change, the risk of damaging the demister is higher. Cheaper tints with bubble and lousy gum might just damage them.

If cheap tints degraded greatly year to year, the protection they provided would be much lesser every year. Depends on our own preference tho.

I prefer using a premium ones... fire and forget for many years, tint degradation is minimal thus dashboard, leather, degradation due to UV and heat are minimized as much as possible.

Thus my 18 years old City and 15 years old Civic dashboard, side plastic, rear panels colour does not fade at all or at least does not looks faded. Looks very new inside the car. It helps with annual coating and good tints.

Can someone help me choose? Ray Barrier 4+ and 6+ are almost the same except the thickness. If security is not an issue, any reason for me to go for the more expensive 6+?

BTW, I am not interested to make window darker. Thanks in advance.

If you are not into security tint, Barrier 4+ lar. No need to think.

Any other suggestions for quality tint? RhinePro? IrisPro? Looking to tint estima front windscreen & front windows only.

Prefer metallic to reject heat. High % IRR & UV. VLT JPJ-compliance & clear at night.

Now looking at Vkool Elite & Solar Gard LX but both asking RM2xxx for 3 pcs only.
or cheapo tint? Some new tint shop EZ Cool say 3pcs for RM3xx. Seems sketchy as hell.

If you want JPJ compliancy for front Windscreen, you have to choose those with at LEAST 80% VLT or above. Forget about good heat rejection at that range. Cannot be help, near to half of the heat comes from light, slightly more than half comes from IRR.

So most top heat rejection clear tints will likely fail the Puspakom test. VKool Elite (4 to 5 years old) for my old Honda City measured 63%. Elite is rated on paper at 71% to 74% with 3mm glass but in reality, on much lower our Windscreen.

So I just gave up front Windscreen JPJ compliancy and installed CLEAR tint with high heat rejection aka Vkool Elite, Irispro D60/DX60 for front. If you want JPJ compliancy, you have to sacrifice with much weaker heat rejection.

Side tints are easier, just choose tints at 60% rated on paper, should be quite save. Those rated 50 will go likely go below in actual installation.

Unfortunately for 3 pcs top range tint, they are really priced something like that for Estima (consider large MPV). Even Irispro should not go too far from the figure. Can give their IRISPro a call if you are in Klang Valley, Puchong and Klang branch, same manager handling but don't give much hope on much lower pricing. But if you want JPJ compliancy, I think the only tint qualified for that is their lower Ceramic range (CS8080), but TSER rated at 43% on paper vs their Diamond series 60. Price definitely cheaper than their top range ones.

Problem is the tint hue colouring, using different brands or even different range might produced different hue colouring...since you only replace 3, the hue might not match.
