well, i think orange is using with telephone line. Last time you need subscribe BT or others teleco company's landline. But i think now orange has it's own landline(i think).. there'r some good deals.. if you guys are interested, visit orange.

Studying in Uk is really a big deal! I got one friend who come together with me to Newcastle suddenly decide to quit after we rent a house and already reach in Newcastle! Because of her, now 3 of us had to share a 4 room house just because of her. Is about 80 pound per month per person because of the childish girl homesick!! Really angry when think about that. SO guys if you decide to go to UK, Pls really think carefully before do so, otherwise you not only wasted money but at the same time you wasting ppl energy and ppl money as well.!!!

Oh that sounds really bad. So she just threw away the money she spent for tuition fees? I mean everybody feels homesick at first right, I'm currently in my 1st week in Bristol, and although in no way does it feel like home (except seeing lots of malaysians smoking around), it does provide you an opportunity to try something new. But 80 pounds a month sounds quite reasonable since 3 people are sharing a 4 room house, even per week it sounds reasonable. My accommodation on-site campus costs me 110 pounds, but some extras thrown in.

Btw, i'm using postpaid with Vodafone, but i didn't hear about that o2 thing before i bought it, but i have heard about people calling numbers to get free calls to malaysia and being arrested and sued in court, maybe it's this possibly?

the cost of living is varies depend which city you in. In newcastle, 80 pound per week is consider staying in a really high class place. Normally, Malaysian student will just spend 45-60 pound for living per week and 50 pound for food per month!!! The food here is so cheap that 1 huge box of kiwi only cause you 1 pound,4 yogurt only 24p!! So in my situation, 80 pound per week is really sky-high expensive in Newcastle! i can spend the extra 20 pound to ST James' Park or get a better phone, am i rite????

Beside, we just arrive in UK not more than 1 week and i can see her calling home continuously with her maxis line, and suddenly pop up a question asking is that fine for us to share a 4 room property. I don understand what so homesick at the very early moment and don want give up a try to study! what she decide is go back malaysia now and will go to australia next year in take just because her dad can visit her more often.

Thats bad of her. She should pay you guys until you guys find someone else to share the unit at least

Newcastle University. The food in UK is expensive if you eat outside. Example, sushi price is same as in Malaysia but different currency . Actually i just arrive in Newcastle and everything i know is from senior here. A football match in st james park is around 20-30 pound. Actually daily use is really depend how you use it. Most of the students in Malaysia tried to save their money by walking to school, cook at home and so on. Since usually Malaysian student normally stay in a house, what they do is take turn to cook and so on. However, if you eat in restaurant, you will spend more. example if you go chinese buffer in china town, only 4.99 pound per person plus 10% discount for students, and is about 30 dishes.

Added on September 21, 2007, 4:24 pmya, actually i don really know about cost living since i just freshly arrive. £50 per month is because you cook at home and this is from all the senior who told me that. However, i believe it varies depend where you stay and how you spend. Most students from malaysia like to stay in Fenham cause there got 1 big market and selling really cheap food! The price for private accommodation is around £45 -£55 pound but you have to walk 40min to school. However, if you stay in Jesmond like me, price for living is around £55- £75. Walking distance to school is 20min. So is really depend how you spend!

what are the problems??

from a chinese who work in Carphone Warehouse, he told me first year student mostly apply O2 and 3. It is really hard to apply other line like T-mobile, Orange and other unless you had study 1 year in UK.

From my research, there are no such thing call best line, what you see is checkup what is the best deal in the shop. So, tried search a 12month contract so you can change new phone per year. After 1 year, you can just go Internet and get cheaper phone. But beware cause my senior say many internet offer refurnished phone instead of new phone.
