QUOTE(horns @ Nov 26 2013, 03:47 PM) samsung evo is a good drive. just put it on the device which you need space the most. The pro would be a suitable drive for the laptop but probably not for the PS4. Doubt there's going to be massive writes on it. Also, pro doesn't have the capacity like the Evo.for now, personally i still like 840 pro and plextor m5pro xtreme (due to mlc flash hehe) |

Hi and welcome to future-owner.Might get it in february next year, any advice for new owners? should i get the brand new models or is old models perform better than the new ones such as the alienware 14? the laptop If u compare the older models with the newer ones, then I can assure u that the newer ones are definitely better. If u compare with 14 inch alone, the newer one has GTX 765M opposed to GT650M and also the newer one has a 1080p IPS display opposed to 900p display on the older one. This alone already states that the newer one is better. Build quality wise, IMO, newer ones has a bit sturdier build than the older one. The only con for the newer one is the newer one is thicker than the older one in terms of size. |

Also, pro doesn't have the capacity like the Evo. i suppose the writes are mainly for game downloads and updates. it should be fine for tlc ssd's like evo.in future i do hope samsung consider to release pro versions that have higher capacities lol! (for enterprise ssd's they already have those QUOTE(kaoru @ Nov 26 2013, 06:53 PM) is it cheaper to buy a new alienware m17x 9 cell battery well.. that is one of the much cheaper options, however the outcome is really uncertain. (alternatively, you can also check taobao out; i believe it's cheaper there). or refill the batteries inside , some forumers offer that here ive never taken the batteries out , is it good to just leave it there or take it out i always keep the battery in. from time to time i will run the laptop on battery to drain it and recharge. recent batteries are fine because they have some preventive measures to ensure longer shelf life. (i.e. not charging if it's above 95%) |

Depends really,I prefer the older designs and build of the M17x laptops. Specs though, the newer ones are always going to be faster, better, etc. But to be honest, anything a year or two back will be a good purchase. Especially if its a highly specced machine. Important thing is warranty. I make sure I always max out the warranty for such cases. |

Specs though, the newer ones are always going to be faster, better, etc. Same for me M17x R4 is the model to buy! or M18xR2. Either one of them. The new M17x surely looks good from outside but the keyboard and inside design disappoints me a lot. Plus the new one is more thick. If you're just a normal gamer I think processor like 3840QM i7 is wayy good enough and you still can upgrade to 780M on R4 probably 880M too later on who knows But to be honest, anything a year or two back will be a good purchase. Especially if its a highly specced machine. Important thing is warranty. I make sure I always max out the warranty for such cases. Also buying a refurbished or second hand R4 with warranty will be cheaper (y) although yes not dirt cheap as R4 still has its respect in the market This post has been edited by mansooriqbal: Nov 27 2013, 02:48 PM |

i prefer the look and design of newer 17. however, in terms of features that come with haswell chip/cpu, other than 4x sata 3, the rest are not that impressive.

QUOTE(Rei7 @ Nov 28 2013, 06:01 PM) Any cards would be awesome bro as long as GTX 6xx or 7xx if there is any.. I myself suggest to get it from a trust able ebay or amazon seller. You might find better price (Y) check taobao too. Anyone selling new or second hand GPU will give you 1 to 3 months 'personal' warranty anyway. At least with international seller you gotta just bare shipping cost and get 1 year warranty or more depending on thr terms and conditions. Shipping these days through lowyat agents quite cheap already. Good luck (y)putochip123 got any 680 or 780? In short it's on you to fish a good deal out internationally... if you don't want to make much efforts then I recommend sellers here who sell GPU directly but it might create a hole in your pocket |
