Hi all Alienware gurus,

I bit my tongue and placed order for an Alienware 17 which comes with "750GB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s+64GB mSATA SSD Caching".

I know this might not be a best decision at this time knowing that GTX800M series launch is close and Alienware laptops might have refresh few months later, but I found a relatively good deal and due to personal reasons it's best for me to setup a new laptop now.

I want to move Window OS from the stock HDD to a new SSD which I will purchase later on.

I plan to do so by following the steps below once receive the unit:

1. Create a recovery drive on a USB thumb drive (16GB) and keep it safe;

2. Install the new 240GB SSD in the secondary drive bay of AW17;

3. Use Macrium Reflect to clone the OS from the stock 750GB HDD into the new 240GB SSD;

4. Remove the stock HDD from primary drive bay (boot drive) and install the SSD into it. Leave the HDD outside the laptop;

5. Once everything is fine, install the stock HDD into secondary bay, and format it empty to have it as storage drive.

Pls let me know if I have overlooked any minor detail in the above steps.

LOL because I am not sure the package will come with Windows Recovery DVD.

I heard some Windows 8 notebooks nowadays doesn't come with recovery disk.
