QUOTE(Human10 @ Dec 3 2013, 10:13 PM) Nope, our ultra acidic sweats from fingers never failed to made ABS keycaps to gone shiny after a few weeks/months of usage. Take a look at those typists/gamers around you, sure few keys on their keyboards are shiny and oily already. Well getting shiny is one thing but the other poster mentioned corrosion which means the key caps would literally break down. My stuff gets cleaned without being damaged and I don't leave thick gunk around to marinate for months........... Do taobao agents normally repack goods (to make a single bigger parcel) in their warehouse to save on shipping costs? I've been planning to get a few other things while I'm at it. My stuff gets cleaned without being damaged and I don't leave thick gunk around to marinate for months. Things get corroded does not mean will break down at the end. It takes too long time.Do taobao agents normally repack goods (to make a single bigger parcel) in their warehouse to save on shipping costs? I've been planning to get a few other things while I'm at it. Ok, fine. Let explain in scientific details: Our human skin (fingers) always having of ester(oil) & acids on the surface, ammonia(sweat). ABS materials is resistant to aqueous acids, oils etc. But ABS polymer is not resistance to concentrated acids and hydrocarbons, and totally soluble in ketones, esters, acetone. As you can see, the human skin have a layer of acid mantle that will corrode slowly with the ABS. Low amounts of ester also help to attack the abs surface. Lego is made from ABS. |

QUOTE(Hara520 @ Dec 4 2013, 12:24 AM) Try to search around if you can still find CM Storm QFR at around Rm250.If consider importing from taobao (which also means you no longer dependent on the warranty), then try some chinaboards, china really having many choices for tenkeyless. Or if you lucky enough and have a budget of RM350++, then you can try to wait for locally available Filco. If you want it to have backlit, then again, either get chinaboards (will be cheaper) or back order Ducky Shine 3 through local ducky retailers or distributor. |

Take a look at those typists/gamers around you, sure few keys on their keyboards are shiny and oily already. Agreed. If not PBT really out of market. No matter how you wipe it, the texture had already gone. If you are really If ABS is more durable, PBT or POM will not be having positions in market out there already. Also, nope, PBT didn't really had the "lettering have to be darker than keycaps" rule (or you actually mean to say dye-sub?). Keycool grey pbt having no problem to laser white legends onto it. https://www.google.com/search?q=keycool+gre...ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ Somemore, swiss studio manage to dyesub lighter color on pbt keycaps while making the background black. http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=26787264995 In conclusion, PBT can do everything that ABS can do, even the doubleshot (ikbc just succeed to make doubleshot pbt recently), while ABS can't do certain thing such as dyeing, dyesub, better resistant to worn and so on due to their lower melting temperature and durability. Though, I do agree that pitch black pbt is extremely rare or almost extinct out there in the market (thats why there are imsto pitch black thick pbt bulk order ongoing now). But then, since you are looking for printed black keycaps, ikbc fit in your requirements just nice. IKBC do offer white on black doubleshot pbt, and if you are lucky, you may order even other color on black. p/s: This post made me sounds like ABS hater... I still love ABS plastic, they are perfect for lego and keyboard case. But for things like keycaps, they lack in durability, which made them awkward to be used in long run. I don't hate ABS also, but really disgusting to use when get shining. I suggest wear protective glove when type, sure can tahan long time. |

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Dec 4 2013, 01:15 AM) Agreed. If not PBT really out of market. But then, since those who use the silicon keyboard protector thing eventually still do experience shiny keycaps after a long time, I suggested that the process of shining abs keycaps is unavoidable. It is the pressure of your finger that worn out the original matte texture of the abs keycaps? I don't hate ABS also, but really disgusting to use when get shining. I suggest wear protective glove when type, sure can tahan long time. BTW, IINM, last time there are a guy in geekhack which claimed he can literally worn and broke abs/pbt in a short time due to his extremely intensive typing... It is the pressure of your finger that worn out the original matte texture of the abs keycaps? From my knowledge, unless you are using gold keycaps or composite materials, you may reach a level of unbreakable.BTW, IINM, last time there are a guy in geekhack which claimed he can literally worn and broke abs/pbt in a short time due to his extremely intensive typing... Anything is possible to make if really got the money, the technology already ahead very far from current what you can think. Yup, the friction of our fingers can worn out the abs key caps. Since, we are using plastics or cheap plastics, so, rosak tukar only. Already know abs keycaps get shining, just use pbt more tahan a bit. |
