already got a nb (i3-370M), mostly work on desk and plug to 22"
LCD

want to build a cheap pc. must have HDMI so can plug in to TV for movie.

Not playing games.

NEW:
cpu Intel I3 4130
ram KINGSTON D3 PC1600 8GBx1
mb ASUS B85M-G
psupply FSP Hexa 500w
casing CM343 elite

Old parts on hand:
hd intel ssd 530 240g
monitor Dell 22”
kb/mouse microsoft
Question:
1. 2x4GB or 1x8GB RAM better?
2. Any recommendation for Power supply and casing? do not want to spend so much on these things as not going to overclock.
3. any other things i miss out?

thank you and hope to assemble this new machine soon wink.gif

Get 2x4GB.If you are not gaming at all in the future,i'd recommend you FSP Hexa 400W RM129 as PSU,for casing,get CM K380 RM149,and i'd get this MOBO instead,Asrock B85M Pro4 RM279,prices from Viewnet. smile.gif

alright, so 2x4gb ram bcos of the dual channel thingy? will look into it wink.gif

fsp hexa 400 vs 500 (RM129 vs 145)

MTB wise, ASUS B85M-G  vs Asrock B85M Pro 4 (both same price, RM279). warranty wise Asus should be 3 yrs, any idea how long for Asrock? Asrock seems to win in terms of number of USB ports wink.gif

Thanks

price from c-zone.
*
You can get the 500W incase if you want to put GPU... wink.gif
hmm.gif I think Asrock's 1 year of warranty,but im not exactly sure. tongue.gif

[Budget] about 1k-1.5k

[Purpose] Home use (surfing, document typing and a bit gaming)

[Hardwares that will be re-use] None.

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Games such as Osu!/ The Sims

[Personal preferences] Intel/AMD whichever is fine.
If could include cheap decent graphic.
Not sure about this, but for desktop that can stand being used for long hours (6-8 hours daily), what kind of casing/cooler would be suitable?
Already have a monitor so won't need rec for that.

[Location] KL

In advance, thank you so much for the recs smile.gif

Coolermaster HAF XB

please help me complete this list. My budget is RM2500(lower is better!) thanks!

It's a ITX casing, and the Mobo is mATX.Change the casing to Bitfenix Prodigy-M so u can use the MOBO.

oh. Performance in term of? So should I change it?  icon_question.gif
*
Perfomance RAM normally has more than 1600Mhz,but only 0.2-1 FPS difference, and its OCable.U should change to Corsair 4 or 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz.

Even though it's the OC version,it's worser than GTX650ti Boost.

QUOTE(noonies_naruto @ Jan 5 2014, 11:43 AM)
hi geng. I was given this specs:-

CPU: Intel Core I5 4670 RM715 (firm want to use this processor)
MOBO: ASrock B85M-HDS RM245  (4 x USB 3.0, 8 x USB 2.0 ) (i think 2 x usb3.0 and 4 x usb 2.0 is enuf)
RAM: GSKill AEGIS 1x8GB DDR3 1600mhz RM265
HDD: WD 1TB Caviar Blue HDD RM195 (i thought can get cheaper?)
Chasis: Bitfenix Prodigy-M Black RM310 (im paying too much for just chasis, any suggestion for chassis with good air flow? Doesnt even have to be branded kaw2. its just a chasis. thinking of going with Aerocool coz looks cheaper)
PSU: FSP HEXA 500W PSU RM149
GPU: Sapphire R7 260X 2GB DDR5 OC RM530 (i still want to use GTX650Ti)
WIFI: Tplink TL-WN881ND RM60
ODD: Liteon 24x Sata DVDRW RM60

I can get a Dell S2340L for RM530. Any areas where i can cut down? I want to keep budget under RM3k.
*
You can cut down the RAM to Value RAM,like Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RM234.Hmm,i thought HDD costs 189 hmm.gif
For the casing,you can try CM K380 RM149,get Leadtek GTX650Ti Boost 2GB RM599.
Optional:Change MOBO to Asrock B85M Pro4 RM279

QUOTE(Chew Yongxian @ Jan 5 2014, 03:19 PM)
Sorry my bad. I'm overhauling my entire system, and I'm pretty much 80% done except for the SSD, HDD and PSU. So yeah, just the three components.

As for SSD, I guess the Samsung 840 Evo 250GB should be fine then, since it's also cheaper than equivalent plextors or intel ones.

For HDD, I'm not sure as seagate has some pretty food stuff as well. I'm just looking at something that can run a long time unlike my older WDs which decided to die off after 3 years.

For PSU, hmmm, I've read that CM V models are basically rebadged of Seasonics. Will take a look at the V1000 model.

The G10 does have issue with VRM cooling, but some sticky thermal tape and chipset heatsinks is all that is needed to bring down VRM temps to around 50°+

No worries. No rush anyways. Wanna carefully look around at components before I commit, especially WCing. And seriously, thanks for the feedback. =)

QUOTE(Human10 @ Jan 5 2014, 03:23 PM)
HDD is all about luck, if you lucky, you get one that virtually can last forever, if you bad luck, RMA is like your daily routine... Even you turn seagate, it also won't guarantee that it won't fail in 3 years time.

Yeah, the V1000 is pretty cheap at Viewnet, RM649. Probably can ask for more discount if pay by cash.
*
What @Human10 said is correct,it's all about luck on HDD. tongue.gif

Me also the same. Although I know how to do it, not surely, just with watching the videos.
But they always mention about electrostatic, which makes me quite scare.. biggrin.gif
*
I've never heard of electrostatic,im sure it's like electroc shock for 1 sec, laugh.gif i'd prefer to let shop assemble even though im learning how to assemble and disassemble,i disassemble a laptop and assemble it back yesterday...it was fun though since the laptop is no longer usable. biggrin.gif

quite minimal for gaming, but there will be a greater margin of difference if you use it to power up your integrated graphic card(i.e AMD's apu or Intel i3/i5/i7's HD series)
true also. since the power usage for that build would be too bad for price/watt  sweat.gif
*
I thought it only helps in AMD APU? hmm.gif

both apu and intel i3/i5/i7's HD integrated gpu uses ram as its vram, so, the same concept applies? exclude the Iris Pro Graphics 5200 series though.
