Nowadays people prefer to be the soloist rather than be a supporting musician.

But the MPO program book shows that there are some Viola Concertos coming up tongue.gif

MPO... wow, they really are good. well, I think a supporting music is the most important thing in a concert. if we din play anything the soloist will sound like crap too =D

nope viola is mostly just accompaniment, with some part solo. not much unison with violin 2.

Goo Goo Dolls' Iris, there is a viola part on it.

Well, I have to say that being a background musician are good too.

Correct me if im wrong, Paganini's caprices are truly violin solos without any accompaniment.

I just watched Schinittke's Viola Concerto performed by Giovanni Pasini in MPO last Saturday

Really some crazy performance, he was playing so fast that a bunch of hair from the bow was dangling sweat.gif

dominant has a nice warm touch....but there are diff version of this in the market..i like the soft version ; gives easier feedback.im now using Pirastro...most ppl says its better then dominant but i beg to differ..diff instrument responds differently... and this is a good link for violinist to check out on other brand of strings...

How can got DVD... MPO don't allow any form of recordings sweat.gif

But overall it was a great performance.. Can really feel the mellowness, sadness, melancholy.
That other songs that night was one of Glinka's energetic overture and Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony..

After the viola concerto was the 5th Symphony....

The songs list mood is from Energetic > Sad > Terrifying sweat.gif
