🕊️ “Maybe Staying Wasn’t About Staying Forever”
I asked to leave. Not because I hated where I was, but because I could feel parts of me fading — slowly, quietly — beneath the weight of duty. I prayed for guidance, and in my istikharah, the answer wasn’t loud. It came softly — through conversations, through people I respected — telling me to stay. So I stayed. I told myself maybe there was more for me to do here. Maybe my purpose wasn’t complete yet. Maybe peace would return if I just held on a little longer. But lately, I wake up and wonder where that spark went. The same halls, the same faces, the same rhythm — and yet, it all feels… heavier. I still give, but it feels like giving from an empty cup. I still care, but the joy in caring has dulled. And the hardest part? Pretending that staying means I’m okay. This isn’t rebellion. This isn’t ungratefulness. It’s the quiet ache of someone who stayed out of faith, but is learning that faith doesn’t always mean permanence. Maybe the lesson was never about staying forever. Maybe it was about understanding what staying costs. About realising that loyalty can be sacred — but so is your peace. So if I seem quieter these days, it’s not because I’ve given up. It’s because I’m trying to listen again — to my heart, to my Creator, to the stillness that once guided me. And maybe, when it’s time, I’ll find the courage to move — not out of exhaustion, but out of peace. |
