Few of my friends getting work with petronas under manpower services company. Rumuneration package kinda high but as contract 1 year status.

Are they secured with petronas on current situation? Will petronas absorb them as permanent in future.
*
Im not sure about other Pet company but the position I'm iving is direct hire with 2 years contract (renewable). Not sure will absorb or not and if yes, not sure how long it will take

Did you apply to any vacancy or job postings? What post and department is that?
*
no i did not. the HR called and asked whether im interested with this position. it's a Sr Exec / Manager role in IT (trying to keep it vague)

based on the progress I would say the process is quite fast (first contact early May, technical Iv mid may and just last week i received update for HR chit chat)

I've just gone through a chit chat with group digital as well. I hear they're growing significantly, but from people I know in Petronas I also hear that their salaries aren't great especially compared to upstream PSC companies. I've not heard back after the chit chat but considering it's hari raya I don't expect anything for at least another 1-2 weeks.
*
I cant say for sure since I'm not familiar with upstream / downstream salaries. but based on what others shared (G1 up to G5), my expected is quite above the range and the hiring manager seems okay with it.

although my concern is the processes i'd went through are different from what others have shared. I was contacted and straight away scheduled for technical iv. im not sure whether it's a CBI or not but mostly the questions about technical area and current / past works experience.

after passed that only schedule for HR chitchat. maybe it's different between pet sub companies

Easy indicator to know whether that was a CBI or not is if there were any questions regarding your technical experience were asked, plus test on your behaviour compentencies. Instead of tech experience, they will ask you how you will react in certain2 situations, how do you manage stress, how do you handle your team, how do you manage workload bla bla. That's CBI. It is a part of PETRONAS direct hiring SOP.

But if you are contracted by 3rd party vendor, most probably there is no CBI - just chit chat, technical assessment and easily hired.
*
it was Pet Digital. all the emails from personnel are HRD-TM/PET-ICT. I doubt it's a third party. maybe it's different process for hiring for Digital Group compared to your experience with Carigali etc.

anyhow I will provide update after session with HR. I just noticed there is another thread fro Pet ICT so it would be more relevant to ask there instead of here

I had a really poor hiring experience with Petronas Digital for a Developer role.

The overall process took 6 months (too long) from chit chat to an offer, with the offer giving me a 10% paycut from my current salary and non negotiable offer. They must think people are really desperate to join them. 🙃
*
Similar experience but this was 2020. Dragged out process with hiatus in between - not sure what happened on their end. Eventually came up with only 10% offer. Worth to highlight I was working in Penang and need to relocate if accepted the job. Easiest decision I'd ever made 😂

Fast forward 2022 I'd accepted job in KL with much better benefits and whooping 87% increment (read: from 2021 salary not 2020 while applying to Pet digital). Seems they dont value experienced talents. But maybe its the direction from top management. Just build from their Graduate program or something.

Have anyone being offered by Petronas or its other companies to buy out not just notice period but also bond?

I’d informed them about my notice period and the respond was they might want to buy out. The problem is I haven’t disclose my contract situation where I need to serve for 2 yrs due to sign on bonus I’d got from current employer.

Could this be the show stopper? I don’t really want to fork out on my own even though its prorated, so i just need to pay bit more than half the amount I’d received

Do you always accept the first offer (not met your expectation)?

Im asking for a reasonable 30% raise from my basic and they did offered my around 14%. And naturally I said no because firstly I’m not desperate for the job and secondly they headhunted me.

And its the same experience I had with them in 2020. I mean they said my initial expected salary was within their range but somehow after went through the ivs and other required process, they still come back with meh offer. Its not like im asking absurd amount of raise and I believe its well within market range

How was the negotiation Conducted ?
Face to face meet up, call or email to get your feedback?
Will they asking u on the spot and must decide on the spot ?
*
It was done via phone call. The position is with pet digital, i think everything is online / phone. I really cant say if its standard practice but they’d gave me some time to think. Although i declined politely and provided them the reasons. As i’d mentioned when recruiter first reached out to me, i already gave the number and the initial offer was not even that.

They have return back with improved offer and I’ve accepted it. Just waiting for offer letter.

How is the letter looks like and it is stated all the benefit like allowance, claim those entitlement ?

Pet digital, one of the simplest OL in term of benefits information. No mention AL, epf contributions etc. just have a position, dept/div, basic salary, pay grade & commencement date. I guess just wait for employees handbook 😅

I have some Qs about Petronas Digital.

1. Is is true Petronas Digital considered and treated as 'external' company by Petronas Group? Meaning they are not getting perks/benefit like those internal subs/company.

2. Do you guys use specific tech/lang/stack/platform for your software/web app development?

3. Hint on average bonus given?  brows.gif
*
Benefit wise I believed thats no longer the case. However other aspect I have no idea. My commencement date in couple of months so looking forward to find out

They have streamlined the benefits throughout Pet digital to be quite close to the others although not exactly the same. Regarding the bonus they just had it once or twice the same as Petronas group. Bonus iirc when they had the same as Group was 6months. No idea was for high performer or avg. Prior to that max was 2.5 for high performer.(info regarding bonus was from my friend so take it as it may)

The Benefits are as HR shared with me
- oupatient 8k per family
- inpatient 50k
- maternity 11k up to 5 deliveries (also applied to spouse)
- dental / optical 1k
- health screening (once every 2 years for below 45, annually for above)
- connectivity allowance 120 per month
- WFH allowance 3k one off

I am getting an offer letter from a different GLC company. since Petronas is also a GLC i will ask here. Can we negotiate the starting salary or do they have a fixed pay scale? Also after the gov introduced the flexible work arrangement thing, is it possible to request for it in a GLC?
*
That’s too vague. You didn’t provide any details. What position was it? If its freshie or graduate program etc, i dont think you can negotiate what they have offered.

Experience hires are different. Of course they have pay scales but not fixed. After all, Petronas is a huge organisation. It could overlap across multiple pay grades and job functions. You can’t negotiate the benefits though.

Flex work arrangements really varies even within same organisation. Unless they have written policies regarding that matter, it’s best for you to discuss directly with your manager/ superior

Oh btw anyone from HR here? Can you disclose the salary range for P4 grade?
*
Which opu? It may vary but ceiling is 17k. There’s overlap of course between p4 & p5. Internal promotion p5 could be as low as 15k

Good salary if in holding. Was in Digital. Got 7 yrs exp from fresh grad. salary so slow. last pay was barely 5k. Now jump to other o&g ship. salary increase close to 300%
*
Nah. Same goes for digital. Cant expect the organic growth to reach higher range of the tier. You wont even get promoted to p3 if started as p1 in 7 years. Ask around about recent experience hires. Most P4, P5 commands the higher range especially in digital
