QUOTE(boham @ Oct 2 2014, 12:27 PM) Yup, the two assessors are very nice senior staffs from same department but different disciplines. They both have vacancies each. At the end of session, they did reflect on the TA session (maybe since I am a fresh graduate). But so far, it doesn't reflect on what they had told me. Haha Nevermind, patience is the key right? Or I should move on in the meantime. Hiks! Btw, thank you very much sir. it's physics logic - the higher u (hope for) the harder u'll fall..cf. the lower u go, the higher u'll launch....gitu la lebih2 kurang...nok kechek pandai2 tok gheti...lol

QUOTE(abs_21 @ Oct 14 2014, 11:57 PM) Can someone maybe share what's the structured interview like for an experienced staff >8 years experience? I read that there's 2 stages...1 on case study (it's individual or group) and 1 on behavioral interview. Any tips to share would be really good. i got >4yrs and i reckon it's the same structure. the differs from <3yrs (fresh grad - where they've got role play). for experienced, role play is optional. mine was a 2-parts session; 1- case study, they'll give u a short article and what u need to do is firstly summarize the article and answer the questions given in the article; it's something like pro/cons of the issue, what do u think - agree or not, how to overcome the disadvantages and all). 2-experience based - u just need to give situations where u settled a problem by using ur thinking capacity u may click to my postings before - i've put it down in detail. good luck!

QUOTE(ZintanthraX @ Oct 15 2014, 03:23 PM) thanks for the info. i don't really understand on the process though. cos yesterday i got a call and he said that they might call me for an interview if shortlisted, and asked me to update my resume. any possibility that i'm already shortlisted? or is it like they are just reviewing and wanna check on my details? Normally they'll ask u to update once u passed the interview....but, that should be a good sign tho. Because there r thousands of people who filled up the online form ( i believe he ask u to update the petronasdiscover profile) and u've been asked to update urs. huhu... they dont have time to flip and put aside or hold. maybe they r interested in ur current (last update) cv and would like to know more about what u've done in between. if u digest the whole thread - the golden rule (mcm Shell pulak) is to have patience and do not put too high hopes.....if it's urs, it's urs.

QUOTE(wickedcomet @ Oct 17 2014, 07:32 PM) when you applied, did you wait when there is an opening of your field in the website or you just applied and release your profile to their recruiter without any specific job application? to have an (updated) profile is a must for a call. frankly, i've never applied just park my cv and update profile.

QUOTE(nenemeia @ Oct 16 2014, 07:52 PM) Hey everyone! I'm interested in applying for a job at Petronas but I pretty much have little to none info about the jobs offered there and what they often do in each job, etc. Anyone can help explaining? What is the minimum qualification to apply there? Specifically in Sabah. Thanks in advance! that is too vague my dear. perhaps u could start with "why petronas"? then it could be easier to guide.

QUOTE(abs_21 @ Oct 21 2014, 08:01 PM) Thanks msismail! Went for the SI yesterday. Mentally & physically exhausting, the whole process took about 3 hours (1 yr waiting time filling up the form & read case study & 2 hrs of interview). Basically there's 3 sections to the interview, 1 - intro & get-to-know you session 2-case study given 3-specific examples based on your experience in targeting areas like perseverance, problem-solving skills etc. The interview is not tough but just exhausting, my last few jobs interviews have always been casual sitting at cafes sipping coffees, the SI is too proper. It took them 2 months to arrange the chit-chat session from the 1st point of contact from HR. About 3-4 months before calling me for SI. I don't think I would want to put much hope in it to know whether I go through for placement. The process is long. But I guess it depends 'coz some I read in the forum, they have gotten the replies & offer very fast within few weeks. And one of the interviewer's body language doesn't seems to favour me much. oh well, life goes on hehe U didn't ask the HR incharged? During my SI last time, she said normally >2hrs or so in the room (interview session) is a positive sign, not a guarantee tho. Gudlak!!

QUOTE(lazylilsnoop @ Oct 24 2014, 12:40 AM) I was looking through the web, i see some companies are registered with petronas.... This means they are petronas supplier? How do i know it is still valid or not? My assumption is when there is registration, there will be an expiry.... Yeap, companies that wish to do biz with petronas have to register. Biz for example supply of goods/services/consultation and such.

QUOTE(utp_tyco @ Oct 28 2014, 03:46 PM) Hi..Just wanna share my T.A exp session yesterday. Submit to a friend my CV and got a called a week later to attend the T.A session.Previously was inform the opening is for OPI dept so my mentality alrdy set for OPI link type of question.Having my T.A via skype video conference with 1 manager and 2 sr technical guys as all of them currently in oversea. The exp i must is really nightmare. The question being asked is really technical and details. Is like having a university exam but verbally need to answer the question. They ask me like was is the value for bla bla bla bla..is a fact value..how am i suppose to remember all this thing. As im from telecom exp, they actually ask me a technical question for each telecom system.I thought they only ask only general question like functionality or architecture of a system, but they ask a question something like what is the lowest value for light remittance in order to have a good camera that can see in dark..omg!how i my suppose to remember that..they actually have a book in front of them for their reference to ask me a question with answer. If i answer wrongly, they will mention the correct answer for me.The worst part is, they ask me about instrument thing which i dont have exp at all.Yes im a degree holder in E&E majoring in instrumentation but already graduated last 5 years and working in telecom side.In the end, they inform me that the interview is for instrument engineer not for OPI executive. Wow, now wonder why HR don't want to inform me when i ask for what position. The T.A conference last for 2 hours. I got big headache after the session.Just pray for me that i pass the T.A and call up for SI and get hired. cool TA. mine was merely what-do-you-do-now-as-a-piping-engineer kinda questions.

QUOTE(DuFfz @ Nov 1 2014, 10:34 AM) So many young & inexperience chaps in Petronas now..massive headache to the contractors.. Young & inexp with the right attitude is OK. I'm from the contractor side and agreed with u to the certain extent. Now that i'm about to be within, I already know what type of client that I should not be. It's a learning cycle anyway.

QUOTE(opahkau @ Nov 17 2014, 01:48 PM) Hi guys, I found out that the SI will be conducted in a group. however, in my case, my upcoming SI will be conducted by one on one interview basis, anyone have the same experience with me? if so, appreciate if Lowyat Sifu could give some tips over here. thank you No more in groups, I guessed. For less than 3yrs exp (fresh grad), there will be a role play session. That is all the diff from the experienced.

QUOTE(opahkau @ Nov 17 2014, 03:47 PM) can you share me the title of the case that that you have gone through during the SI as well some tips, do n donts and etc to help me during the SI interview. thank you Unfortunately, due to integrity issue, I personally am not permitted to provide the exact/gist of the article. However, what I can give are the do's n don'ts: DOs: 1. Be yourself 2. Be confident 3. Know ur cv content by heart DONTs: 1. Stop talking 2. Made up stories 3. Uptight 4. Change decision halfway/after being provoked For the article, the rule of thumb is to summarise, state whether you agree or against the issue and how to overcome the issue based on the article and your own ideas.

The machine might be faulty. I did mine and passed on the 5th attempt i think. it was supposed to be a long and hard blow of breath. pretty taf. when u do the test, a result will come out str8 away - a graph (>80% i think)

QUOTE(yogurt7 @ Dec 2 2014, 12:36 PM) I failed my medical check up on the first try. Do the check up at PUSRAWI, the breathing test need to be done 8 times, the doctors know what is the benchmark we required to pass, so he push me to do it until i pass the test (for info, I'm a smoker). However, it was not this test that make me failed. It was on blood test. my cholesterol level during first medical check up is 6.3+ if i'm not mistaken. So HR call me, and give me another 3 months to re-do my medical check up. however, i just re-do it again after 5 weeks, and the level has decrease to 4.6 (the required level to pass is 5.2 and below). long story short, now working with PETRONAS. p/s: heard someone said they need to do the TA on saturday. this is normal. I'm doing my SI also on saturday. oh, ok..then it's a std procedure. so, r u with T&E? x pegi townhall today? heh
