To my experience, the communication for the results (let it be TA/SI), is really depends on the HR focal person incharged. Like mine, she said that her style is that she'll send an email for recommended candidates (TA) in 2 weeks time. for not recommended, she will either send an email too or way later afterwards. I know how everyone is seeking to be with PETRONAS pretty badly. but as we go along, we have to accept that PETRONAS is not the only company. once, u r in the biz (oil n gas) u'll be surprised to see how this industry is actually a vast arena for us to venture into. haaa..dah berkhutbah aku mlm nih...luls... ok, now I need to prepare for my SI tomorrow morning, pkl 8 dah kene ade sane...what the eff..arghh... |

QUOTE(undertaker123 @ Sep 5 2014, 08:24 AM) OK, here it goes...title: My SI experience First, I was late - arrived at the security counter 8:35am...didn't expect that people in KL Sentral will be like crazy - got onto 3rd train to reach KLCC... then i was like "it's totally not OK, but it has been destined, so move on je la...hahaaa Having said that, apparently both interviewer were also late...hahaa...However, instead of 30mins, i've only got like 5mins to gather myself. another 5mins to stare blank - nervous breakdown... so, i went into the room, greeted by Pn Aziah (PCSB) and En. Faizal (GTS). They will lead the session, so just play along. There were 2 parts; PART I - CASE STUDY; -Summarize the given article - Corporate Growth - what is it all about, what are the implications, give solutions. At least the implications are stated in there. So, just give some extra of ur own and also the solutions. whether u agree or not. it can go either way. just stick to ur decision. it's totally OK to take sometimes and think. the key is to stick to ur decision regardless the provocation/logic possible questions that go in the opposite direction as yours, just stick to it. AND KEEP TALKING!! PART II - CBI (Competency Based Interview); -This is for experienced candidates. -There are 4 parts, in general u just need to come out with ur own experience on how did u solve problems. So, just prepare urself with an example of; 1. That one time u've solve a prob by developing a process from identify the prob until the solution and lesson learnt 2. That one time u've driven urself harder than the other to make sure the goal was achieved - put something creative, u've put extra effort on 3. That one time u've been asked to do something that is beyond ur skill/jobscope. to see how u cope with challenges. 4. x ingat dah... but just come out with real examples. they will know if those are genuine (from ur fluency i guess) ps: Role play is for fresh grad or less than 2 years experience i guess and optional for others - in my case, i didn't go thru that. So, that was it. It lasted for 3.5 hours Hence, i requested the intern (not the Exec) to see how I was going. She went into the room after interviewer has deliberated and taaadaaaa....!! Recommended... Sorry for being a poyoman (to some..hahaa), but i sincerely shared to those who r looking fwd to it. good luck to everyone!! |

i mean, received email that u passed SI, then str8 got offer? the medical before or after the offer? ps: sorry for my ignorance, but i was deliberately not paying attention to the procedure since i don't think i wanted to accept the offer before..huhu |

QUOTE(red4900 @ Sep 7 2014, 09:16 PM) hi guys. To my personal view, OnG is a huge field to venture. perhaps, u could define by categories;i'm keen on entering OnG field. currently has 3 years experience in software development field. i graduated with degree in engineering (overseas universities) in 2011. i had applied to a lot of OnG companies previously, but still nothing coming... questions: i feel like my 3 years experience outside of engineering field is counting against me. to enter OnG field (not necessarily Petronas): a) keep trying b) do master in petroleum engineering would i have better chance to join OnG through (a) or (b)? 1. Client - petronas, shell. emepmi 2. Consultants - rwp, technip, mustang, mmc, mecip, rnz 3. Vendors/agents - various from small to large scale 4. OEM - sales 5. Fabricator - mmhe, muhibbah, dialog, mset Other than software area, u might want to try on other disciplines like sales. this make up a very huge portion of OnG. so answering ur question, YES u could go either way. It's just that, Master is not really the in thing unless u r going for Petronas-Research or academic line. My SIL holds a master degree from Sydney (local bachelor) but joined petronas using her bachelor only. thus, keep trying is the best option but do it the right way. i suggest, u should try instrumentation/control companies like Emerson, Valtek and such (i'm not familiar with instr tho). best of luck! QUOTE(azerroes @ Sep 8 2014, 04:13 PM) petronas doesnt regards master degree as a value added. you will end up using you bachelor degree to apply for the job in petronas. and your salary grade will be the same as you were a degree holder. yeap..and again, it's better off to gain experience outside and be good at it. later apply and join petronas as Technical Professional (TP).therefore i would say that option 2 is not the best choice. and take note of msismail suggestion. i have seen a person jump from main contractor (TOYO engineering) to petronas. by having a good network with petronas staff, they might offer you a vacancy the pro to join petronas as grad/young exec is the career development (in general). so it can be either way. since it's easier to gain experience outside as compared to joining petronas...so just make full use of every chances. it's good to have plan but dont limit to petronas only. create the opportunity and fly high....chewahh... |

QUOTE(undertaker123 @ Sep 9 2014, 08:44 AM) What do you mean by Technical Professional (TP)? TP is basically a specialist for a specific area like pumps, hvac, pressure vessel, control, process safety - technically sound, like when u ask/present something, there can simply comment on the spot - that is from my experience. Is it the one who have an IR title? How long experiences (at least) that we Need to have to consider as TP? these people normally come from the field - technician/operations - hands on. (cf. exec yg stay kat office buat design) Not necessary with Ir. title, but u need vast experience - put it >15yrs, then can nego kaw2 on the salary. and normally as u go along, people dont tend to go for permanent, they'll go for PO/contract - but pls know how to market urselve first. Note: this is to my understanding, correct me if i'm wrong. |

QUOTE(red4900 @ Sep 8 2014, 07:07 PM) msismailazerroes really? consultant is that good aa? Thanks for the answer! I did applied to a lot of OnG companies besides Petronas, still failing.. all from client right down to fabricator First priority is consultant, second is client. Really interested to join consultant (since that's the hardest part, from what my relatives and friends are telling me), but seems like impossible... just keep trying, u'll never know; accept anything that happen to u is the best for u - motivasi pagi heh.... |

QUOTE(red4900 @ Sep 9 2014, 02:23 PM) Will do later. Thanks! that's huge...huhu...sorry, know nothing on subsea..Btw, what happens to Exxon Mobil? Some of the operation also has been bought by Enquest... One more question. If I want to take training/cert by myself, what cert would be good? And which training centre? I'm interested in subsea exploration btw, although I can't be choosy at this stage... |
