For left hand guitars, do they just flip the pickup and put it in or do they re-do the whole thing altogether?

hey, i have a couple of questions here

1. I have about RM1000 now. I'm not sure whether to get a new guitar (i have an sx vintage series strat and an acoustic now) or get a bass + amp? and if guitar, what guitar?

2. Does the tension of the string help in anyway when you're playing solos?

Not sure about the guitar part, but i wouldn't go for a bass + amp with a 1k budget. Not to be arrogant or anything, but it's too little and you probably will regret spending on cheap stuff especially the amp.

1. all depends what you want tongue.gif

2. yes tension helps.
on both a LP and strat, both with similar say 9 gauge, its easier to go faster on a strat cos the strings arent so floppy, bending is about the same.
so usually ppl string 10 gauge on LPs and 9 gauge on strats, to get roughly the same tension feel etc.
you can go 11 gauge etc, but for beginners they wont be able to bend or do vibrato for nuts tongue.gif

To add to that, the longer the neck scale, the higher the string tension. Hence 9's on a 25.5" scale will feel similar to 10's on a 24.75" scale.

1. Unless you're not fond of the SX, then you should get a new amp. A huge part of your tone comes from the amp. A sucky amp wont make a RM10020402142 priced guitar sound nice, BUT an ok guitar through a good amp would give you tone. That's what you'd want if you think you're ok in your playing.

2. Less tension = easier bends and stuff. To me I like moderate tension, as too flabby would ruin my accuracy or probably thats just me tongue.gif

Left handed guitars are like ...playing the guitar infront of a mirror. The body is cut opposite, but I think the pickups are still the same. You wouldnt want a higher/lower output on your higher/lower strings rclxub.gif .

Whats up guys?
Its been a while since I posted here. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_idea.gif

i feel tone is also affected by string tension. I get more tone from fatter strings. Which is why i prefer 10s. Sometimes even 11. But i only use 11 when i'm playing alot of punchy rhythmic funk stuff. I don't/can't shredd so i don't know how it affects your shredding.

Like I said, I use Zakk's string gauge which I find comfortable for both rhythm playing and (whenever I can) Shredding.....

But I AM beginning to feel the strain of the thicker strings when you're shredding...... As for the tone....... man...... Can't compare.

MUCH MUCH MUCH more fuller then the regular strings in terms of tone. When playing BLS songs...... very full and punchy.
