Hopefully the cold weather doesn't spoil my trip that much...
I plan to go light most of the time, with just Note 3.

Only when I visit those landmarks of Beijing, I will bring the whole arsenal. laugh.gif

Did you install the drivers or Kies 3 on your PC?

Note 3 uses the microusb 3, but is backwards compatible with the usual microusb 2.
miniusb is the older standard used by the earlier Blackberry phones.
*
i've tried install the drivers from so many sources but still fail.

Also has installed KIES but still the same.

the usb 3 cable connection is OK, but i'm too lazy to plug in/plug out the cable from the wall charger.

So I want to use the existing mini usb cable.

since my laptop can, why my PC can'[t? sad.gif

Beware the Beijing smog. It was horribly bad last year coz everyone had to burn coal warmers during winter. You may not get to take any pics except grey here and grey there. And you will need an air filter rebreather mask laugh.gif

Try a different USB port and/or change the cable. Bro, it is MICRO usb not mini usb. Mini usb will not fit.

I'm just worried that my body can't take the coldness.

Another thing is I really hope my Note II and Note 3 are compatible with China SIM card. laugh.gif

GSM should be fine. I had no problems using a China prepaid SIM while I was there, using the Note 2.

Then, I'll be in Shanghai for a couple of days which I will take opportunity to visit the neighbouring provinces like Suzhou, Hangzhou. laugh.gif

Already changed the cable and the port, still cannot.

have you yourself tried both cable types on the same laptop/PC? are they working fine?

i have not tried connecting the phone using usb 3 on my laptop (which can connect to the normal micro usb cable)

Want to ask i flash the same rom as u, why my Baseband is DMJ4?  rclxub.gif
Build number ok is DMJ7.
Version-
AP N9005XXUDMJ7

CP N9005XXUDMJ4

CSC N9005OXADMJ4

Strange.  rclxub.gif

How did you extract the firmware zip files from Sammobile into .tar.md5 files for flashing..?
- some app only manage certain/half extraction..not full. My Androzip app only manage to extract around 1.7GB out of the 1.4GB zip file when full extraction should be 2.2GB.
- I suggest you put the Sammobile zip files into MobileOdin and let the app extract the zip files for you as I found that MobileOdin can manage full extraction.
- uncomplete extraction can lead to bootloop...or like you case, modem was not included in the flashing.

Anyone having this issue with their Note 3 Gorrila Glass?

Looks normal when wipe clean
user posted image

But when smudged or fogged up, there is this in the middle of the screen.
user posted image

I tried with glass cleaner, cannot wipe the mark away.

Think the Gorrila Glass coating got scratched. And the line marking matches the bottom line of the S-View casing window.

Feels coarse when I run my fingernail through it.

Don't know can claim warranty or not cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

I extracted the zip file on PC and sent to device ext sd card. Zip file about 1.3Gb and extracted .tar.MD5 is 2.11Gb.
Can Andrewtst confirm your extracted .tar file size pls?. notworthy.gif
Like u say could be an incomplete extraction. Will just put zip into Mobile Odin tonight & reflash.
Thx bro for your feedback. smile.gif

Ermm... Has anyone still using the standard mini usb cable connecting the Note 3 to PC?

I have problem with this.,

Using my laptop Windows 7, it still can detect and connect.

But on my my PC
Windows 7 as well, it says unable to start device. Anyone?
*
I had the same problem too. What I did was restart the phone while connected to the laptop and then let windows search and install the drivers automatically. These took about 2 hours because my internet is slow maybe but as long as laptop can detect I'm happy already.

I forgot to mention I tried installing from Helium drivers, KIES but everything just does not work before that.

hmmm...

i think its something etched there that might be the same alkaline as your glass cleaner hence its not removable

try
1. claying the part using an automotive paint clay (if you have) with minimal water as lubricant
2. using IPA to wipe off the part
