Nah I already tested the Q90R Atmos capability. Using blu-rays is the proper way to display the soundbar Atmos capability as the contents are uncompressed compared to Netflix’s streaming content. Even torrented 4Ks with 40-80gb files are stunted at the audio department.
I tried Matrix and you can somewhat hear the height channel from the Atmos, still no where near or as convincing as proper ceiling speakers, but still very impressive from just a sound bar.

PS5 still probably won’t have Netflix Atmos app though, but if you don’t have a blu ray player that does Atmos then it’s worth the wait.

my only source is from my laptop and did not fully experience my Q70R yet...
somewhat i still figuring out why the soundbar cannot detect my laptop (source) even i directly connect the HDMI cable...

Your laptop hdmi port not arc enabled. Try Bluetooth.

Wow.. its a steal at rm3,300. TBH is an uprgrade from my YAS-207. Rear speakers only perform depending on your media. I suggest you go for audition, not sure your low volume expectation is same as me because for movies i only open max 15 for my small bedroom.
No e-arc is not an issue.. u just don't get the expected effect from your soundbar.

ohhh i tried bluetooth. the Dolby Access cant detect the speaker also

Sony HT-ST5000 was released quite some time but the price still very high. Was thinking to get a good deal after some time but no luck haha. Anyone can share where to get a good deal on this sound bar?

Wow you guys should download/get Ad Astra. I’ve tested a number of movies so far from Matrix to Blade Runner 2049 to Saving Private Ryan and even Jenn77’s F1, and so far Ad Astra really shows the Atmos effect so well for a soundbar that I’m quite shocked. Real height object placement. Seriously don’t regret buying this now 😆

I just bought Yamaha YAS 209 and happily set it up.

Linked to my C8 LG with the free hdmi cable (1.4a) and tested using youtube music. Set it to Movie (and also Music), 3D surround, clear voice bass ext both on and +3. Updated to latest firmware too.

TV sounds ok, not that great. Because now night time I cannot up the volume.

However when I play it via my phone, the mp3 in my phone.... I think connected via bluetooth or WIFI, the quality is very bad. It is worse than my logitech z625 laptop speakers. Sound is muffled and generally I think TV speakers better.

Tomorrow I will test streaming... youtube on TV those music videos also sound quality is bad.

A couple of questions:

1. Sound quality not as expected. I tested this in the showroom and it is much better. The right way to connect is via ARC or optical? I use ARC. If the best way to connect is ARC, then is the hdmi cable issue since it is 1.4a version. Will the sound be better if I change to a 2.1 or 2.0 hdmi cable?

2. Or is it I got a pair of lemon speakers? How do I test it. Basically I chose Yamaha because it is (apart from cheaper) supposed to be better in music, but I am very disappointed so far.

3. Or is it the speaker will sound better after I run it for a while?

Seriously if I know the quality is as such in my room, I wouldn't have paid over 1.4k for it. Appreciate any advice to set up this sound bar the right way. Thanks.
