How’s the Q90R for a room? I’m planning to do the same for my bedroom as well, but looking at the Q80R. Does it perform good at low volume? Or it needs to be cranked up. If it’s volume dependent then I won’t buy.

Btw, my NU8000 doesn’t support e-arc. Will it have problems playing 5.1 on the Q80R? Atmos is for future proofing.

The cheapest Q90R I found was from Tanradio, Rm3300, it sold out within a few days. & you guys think the Q80R will go cheaper or now is the peak already?

Cheapest at the moment is around RM3.5k on Lazada. I bought mine yesterday from Shopee @ Desa Home for around RM3.33k (but it was 10% rebate via shopee coins )
Should arrive tomorrow.

eARC can transmit uncompressed 5.1 while ARC only does compressed 5.1. Both supports Atmos, but obviously eARC will be a higher fidelity e.g Dolby True HD while ARC at DD+.
So you won't have issues with playing 5.1.

That’s great! Was contemplating on the Q90R too but I think Q80R is enough at the moment. Will add the rear speakers if necessary in the future.

I see, thanks for the clarification. My NU8000 sadly doesn’t support eARC. Hopefully the PS5 soon will be a good media player as well. Just hoping the Q80R would sound good on low volumes as well instead of only high volumes playback.

Adding rear speakers in the future for the Q80R won’t have the upfiring speakers though. Only Q90R rear speakers have upfiring.
My TV don’t have earc either, but I’m using UBP-X700 as my source so shouldn’t be an issue.

& Desa reduced the price of the Q80R this morning! Was gonna buy it already last night, luckily I waited a bit. So got it at Rm2699 before the 10% cashback. Can’t wait to try it out.

Congrats! Q80R was actually my target before I said fk it, this gonna be my last soundbar for this lifetime and went for the Q90R.
I have received my unit but still in my car. I’ll have to ask my wife to help me carry up as the box is too big and heavy for 1 person to carry
The courier couldn’t come in as my condo doesn’t allow delivery inside so I had to collect at the guard house entrance...

Soundbars are still way behind a proper dedicated 5.1 / 7.1 setup for surround but if you are using TV speakers only then soundbars do make a night & day difference.

I’m not too sure but if it’s Samsung then maybe the R650? It’s the highest range non-Harman Kardon Samsung soundbar.

R is the code for Samsung’s 2019 models. T is for 2020. So R is definitely cheaper even if it’s the equivalent model if you purchase it at the time being. I’m not too sure about that Lazada seller tho but it’s the cheapest I found.

Yes but I was prepared to buy it at Rm2999 with 10% cashback, meaning it’ll be Rm2700 + 29k coins for me to spend on Shopee. Then today Desa decreased the price to Rm2699 & I’d still get the 10% coins! (which is a bonus now)

I haven’t really read about the coin t&c tho. So yea even if it comes with a catch I’d still be happy now as I’m still getting the soundbar at Rm2.7k. You can’t spend all the coins all at once? Need to buy some things from Shopee actually

Basically you can just use it as cash for shopee products. E.g. 20k coins - RM200 if i'm not mistaken. There is a 3 months expiry for the coins though.
Just finished setting up the soundbar... took quite long especially trying to connect the soundbar to the samsung app. In the end updated the firmware via usb lol

Wow huge difference btw the Q90R and my YAS-207. Definitely more immersive with the Atmos & rear speakers. I still couldn't find Atmos films on Netflix though
My TV doesn't support Atmos but as i'm also using the netflix in my UBP-X700 it should be recognized as an Atmos enabled device though.

Sounds great! Makes me more excited about the Q80R already. But Q90R is undoubtedly one of, if not, the best soundbar in the market right now. Nearly all reviews pointed that out. Enjoy bro! Is it a big improvement over the Q70R?

Can’t really compare since my dad’s TV doesn’t have ARC, so he’s connected with optical cable only and missing out on all the goodies until he gets a new TV

Just found out why, my UBP-X700 Netflix app doesn’t support Atmos although the device supports Atmos... looks like I might have to get another box that has Netflix Atmos enabled app.. looking at Nvidia Shield TV now, with my RM370 Shopee Cashback coins it won’t hurt as much

Oh such a bummer! Sad that it doesn’t support Atmos not allowing you to fully test the Q90R capabilities! Was thinking of the Nvidia Shield too but I’m saving up for the PS5 so till then probably no Atmos for me
