As yes, while you can find HA pokemon from horde, it's quite difficult. To check for Pokemon abilities, you need a Pokemon with Trace (Ralts and Abra line has it), but in hordes, it's hard to find the Pokemon with HA cuz u dunno which Pokemon you're Tracing, and there's other Pokes that have just the normal ability. So it's better go Friend Safari if possible.

For horde HA, there are some strategy for certain pokemon to check whether they have ha or not.
example: plusle(lightning rod) use electric attack, psyduck(swift swim) use rain dance, roselia(leaf guard) use sunny day, durant(truant) just find which does not attack next turn, etc.
another way is get pokemon with entrainment and use the move on each pokemon.

open your 3ds camera and touch the qr code button on the touch screen (bottom left)
or you can just manually go to eshop and find the update on pokemon page (or if you lucky it will notice you about software update when eshop launched)

Got a question about passing egg moves.

Let's say I want a Charmander with Outrage. I breed a Charmander with a male Dragonite that has Outrage. The offspring has Outrage.

Can I use this offspring to breed with other Charmanders to get Outrage or must I continue breeding with Dragonite?

Can breed with the Charmander no problem (as long as either parent has Outrage).
This is actually something I learnt a few days ago, cuz I was wondering why my hatched Pokemon didn't have the egg move (cuz the parents need the move in the first place! )
