So I brought my father to lowyat to replace his HTC desire to Moto g last Tuesday. He contemplated with an xperia z1 while waiting for the stock to arrive around 6pm. I had to go back earlier and to my surprise, he bought a silver htc one 32GB.

That night, we noticed the camera gives purplish discolouration on low light. This is unacceptable. I went on xda-dev and there is 60+ pages of camera problem thread. This must be a widespread issue.

So we went back to the shop at lowyat and hoped for a replacement. The guy didn't ask much, he went somewere else and got a replacement unit but it is a red colour!

Unfortunately, the camera purplish discoloration is still present. The shop refuses to swap back my father's original silver unit. He suggested us to got to htc service centre.

We went there and the lady at the desk told is it is a problem that has persisted since launch. Swapping with a different unit would not make a difference. That is puzzling from HTC side. I'm sure HTC awares of such problem and should work to getting a working camera module to replace the defective one.

So we sent the red htc one for repair. We were promised for collection this coming Monday around lunch time.

tldr: defective camera. HTC gives no **** about it.

You can wait, or email the HTC top guns and demand a quicker resolution, or file a small claims in the Consumer Tribunal.

Very optimistic there rclxms.gif
First they order for camera modules, then they waitttttttttttttttttttt(for a long time) to receive them.
Only then they would repair the phones.
I doubt there is cutting queue for new sets.
Well, keep up the faith nod.gif

This is confusing.......htc sent me an email today.......asking for serial no. , IMEI and phone model....soo I sent it....they replied after that.....same answer :-

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I am so glad to hear from you.

Dear James, first of all, thank you so much for the information that you provided us before, it was helpful to check the specs of your device and in your case, I will recommend you will receive the update. However, keep in mind that the updates are sent periodically in this case, I will recommend you to please stay tuned and please check going to menu, settings, about phone and software update. Also, as soon as the update is available for your device you will receive it OTA.

Remember that if you have any other question or concern, I will be more than happy to assist you anytime that you required.

Now I`m getting confuse.........

How can I receive an update since I send my phone for warranty more than a month ago ??????? and no news since then.........

Sent an email to them seems like waste of time....I`m done...........

Emailing the top guns seem to do the trick. Sent phone in on 9th but have been getting 'still repairing' responses when i check. Got tired so emailed the top ppl yesterday. No reply. Today, earlier this evening, someone called to say that they understand that the management has heard my concerns about the slow progress and guaranteed the return of my phone on monday.

When I was at the service centre last Tuesday, another customer complained of the same camera problem. It was a newly bought unit. I suggest you to check if all parts are working properly before making a purchase.

Do check the camera for purple tint ( in low light mode) /pinkish tint before paying for it. This seems to be a common problem with this phone. No one can really says whether the camera problem is still there or not but it seems to affect many users. The chance of a used unit having such issues is high. Ask the owner why he is selling it. I did see a seller mentioned he is selling because of his frustrations with this issue - thumbs up to a honest seller

Thing is, out of those 9, 6 got bounced back. I'm assuming cause they resigned already. Lol.

So the 3 remaining are:

Peter
Fred
Cher

If someone has the updated list of emails it would probably be better and more effective.
