Hmm, is it really important to have WIFI in a room? I suspect Singtel and the other telecommunications provide portable dongles? What do you guys think?

True! I am taking all those into account when looking for one. Gosh, it sure is not easy to find a place to rent in SG!

All is because of the cunning agent. Most of them are in a gang, so who ever you engage, also the same. Maybe this is their survival tactic among hundreds of agent.

Yes, all the 3 main telco, Singtel, Starhub and M1 provide broadband on mobile aka dongle. It's good that you able to rent a room which the owner or housemate got subscribe the home broadband, so you can save the cost to own the broadband on mobile.

I see. I realised a lot of those renting out at S$650 is not inclusive of wifi! Or am I being too optimistic here. blink.gif

If you know the house have broadband, try to negotiate for it. Price range is quite variable.

Just wondering what are the job prospects of being a recruitment consultant? Would it be a good idea if I started out without any experience in this field? Where would it lead me?

Not really. Mobile broadband using 3G/4G usb dongles or handphone tethering is so readily available these days, why would you even need to share the landlord's Internet connection?

And if the landlord has his media center and networked devices on the same wifi network, he will need to work out how to include you for internet connection sharing but exclude you for network sharing.

Survived with Broadband on Mobile for years now. No hassle when moving house. The speed is fast, no problem for streaming, video call and gaming, the only thing you need to worry is the quota now, 10gb max.

I never renewed my mobile broadband contract from 2007. Still on 50GB a month.

Will also not renew my mobile phone 3G contract. 12GB a month. Not worth to give up 10GB for 4G.

If they are new to Singapore, for sure the new contract is limited 2/3/4G data plan, so mobile tethering is out if heavy usage user.

As mention mobile broadband is an additional cost for a them who just come over and start work. Since the house is equip with broad, it's still open up to negotiate to share it like other home appliance. All is depend how the negotiation goes.

Anyway, no doubt owning yourself a mobile broadband is convenient as you move around.

I am so inclined to go for this! I stream about 2 to 3 videos every week so 10GB should be alright. thumbup.gif

I realised room with no wifi provided are significantly cheaper and the money saved can be used to invest in a mobile broadband. Then again, there is the hassle of signing a contract and etc... sad.gif
