I would like to ask, is it possible for someone with no source of income (housewife for e.g.) to apply for a credit card by pledging FD? I know someone who does not fulfill income requirement can do so by pledging FD to get the card but what if that person has no recurrent income but has cash in the bank instead?

Yes it is possible by pledging FD. Different banks may have difference procedure so do check with the banks.

Doable for Maybank, Public Bank, HLB for Wise/Mach/etc.

Other banks you need to confirm yourself.

The amount you pledged - your credit limit.

Different banks have different procedures, some even have stamp duty so do walk in and ask.

For hotel, it should not be recognized as cash advance.

Probably. I would not know for sure.

But I tried assisting my friend in booking a room in Genting before.

It is charged as hotel, not as cash advance.

They do have a special terminal for cash advance in the casino.
It's not 'worth' to do cash advance at the casino, as they will charge 1.85% apart from standard bank cash advance charge.

You need to have a work permit or PR to qualify. If not, you won't get to apply.

Talking about China people. My colleague who is a Chinese is working here and loves watching movies. So she was at GSC MV last weekend and there was HLB booth promoting their HLB GSC card. One of the guys approached her but noticed she's not a Malaysian straight told her she cannot have it. doh.gif

Too bad for the agent that walked off, she was interested actually and is having more than 120k annual income. Facepalm to that fellow. doh.gif

inexperienced sales agent lor. should have asked second question whether your friend work here rather than just walked off. he must have thought your friend is a tourist in malaysia for visiting. lol. .
