Hi all...

Newbie to Galaxy Note 3 here. I'm on stock rom and don't intend to root my phone. Just wanna ask about a few things here:

i) The stock sms only allows up to a certain number of words to be typed before it turns into an MMS. Is there anyway around this besides getting a 3rd party app? If need to get a 3rd party app, what do you guys recommend?

ii) I used to own a HTC Sensation and it came with a task manager for me to close apps once I'm done with them to save on batt usage. I can't find a task manager on Note 3. Is it necessary to install a task killer or some similar app?

iii) Any way of getting a notification once the batt is fully charged besides using a 3rd party app? If need to use a 3rd party app, which is recommended? There are so many apps available, but I'm not sure which is appropriate.

Just curious, are you using any S View cover with SIM pin enabled?

s-view function is not working right?

Hi a question here. I accidentally put my note 3 back into the note 3 box 180 degree inverted after I purchased it. Thus, the power button was pushed continuously (I think so) until it kept on and off itself for about 10 minutes!! T.T I only realized it when I held the box and felt vibration for 1 to 1.5 minutes time gap. Is it ok for this lol? Who knows the box is designed to put the phone in a single direction only...

i) Without root, you won't be able to solve it. I not sure if 3rd party SMS app can solve it or not, but you may try Go SMS / Handcent SMS / Chomp SMS which are among the famous 3d party SMS apps. Make sure you turn off the notification for stock SMS if you are going to use those 3rd party apps else you will get double notification.

ii) There is a task manager built in. Long press on the home button to go into multitasking view, the bottom left button will bring you to the task manager

iii) What sort of notification you want? Upon full charged of your battery, the notification LED will turns into green color.

I believe it won't as the smart pin is absent and price is too big of a gap.

It doesn't have chips inside. I think the auto sleep and wakeup can't work

But I think joytest mentioned there's a work around

I'm using the original S View cover. Not sure about the SIM pin enabled feature.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm looking for sound notification for the batt charging as I usually charge my phone in my room while I'm in the hall doing something else.

Did you restart your phone with the S View cover being closed? I have this issue where if I restart my phone with the S View cover closed, I won't have my data connection. It's only if I restart my phone without the S View cover being closed, data connection is fine upon full boot up.

No pin there, means the S View function won't work.

Last time I read somebody mention when restart the phone with S View Close, then no way to keying the SIM card pin, I think this issue is solved in latest (none Malaysia) firmware MJ3 as mine can keying pin restarting by that, just open the S View cover later and continue the pin input, and Data Connection is there. I just try it.

Means MJ3 do fixed something beside changing bootloader to prevent the root de la Vega not working and trigger the Knox counter.

I gave a call to maxis, the responded back saying my setting is wrong . Anyway going to apply their setting and just give it a try.

Btw, I restarted the phone with the cover closed. You are right!! There data connection is not tere . Restarted it again with cover open gave me the data connection back

Is not that there is no way to key in pin but the S View is too "smart" to bypass the security check and save you the process of unlocking via security pin. Only if you didn't close the cove and you will be prompt for the pin. I didn't flash or update to the MJ3 as I'm still in MJ1 rooted stock ROM. But that is not any big issue to me. Just that during evening time, my data connection will auto sleep when the flip is closed and will only connect back when I awake the phone. Only happened to me during evening time and after I use the S View cover.

Frankly speaking, I never trust any technician in the call center regarding on the internet setting. They will always ask us to change this and that which is not the culprit. LYN forumers will have better knowledge than them at least 10 times.

I just update my post.

MJ3 is fixing that issue. They no longer bypass the SIM pin code. You need to keying the code even restart the phone with S View Cover Closed.

I can enter the SIM pin code and Data Connection is working.

Means I believe soon or later Malaysia will received this updates as well, just too bad Samsung try the best tighten the Knox security even much.

So good for those unrooted user to update to MJ3. Hopefully they fix the data auto sleep issue which happened in few of us.

That I not sure, as it never happen to me. Sorry can't help much on that.

What I hope is Samsung don't ever make the phone unrootable in coming KNOX 2.0, if this is the case, probably certain portion of users that love modded will leaving Samsung especially XDA developer. I no need custom ROM as Samsung did it pretty well already, but I still prefer root access.
