Can we skip dinner to shave off unwanted weight? I'm about 176, 66KG. I intend to skip dinner so that i could shave off some weight. I'm quite busy with work, family, and girlfriend, so I don't really have time for exercise. Even if i do have time, i'm extremely tired. Is there any side-effect from skipping dinner? Is this method effective? I dont have appetite too lately, from stress. Or should i try a non-carb diet? My sis told me it's really effective, just stick to protein and vegetables. How about laxatives? Are they effective? I mean taking laxatives so that will have diarrhoea.

meat and veggies(your source of carbs) diet work like wonders. stay away from white rice, white bread, pastries and the likes. do take in veggies in a generous amount though. a high protein little fiber diet cause a lot of havoc to your body. you'll lose muscle more likely than fat if you skip your dinner. so the answer is don't. eating 6 separate smaller meals divided throughout the day helps too, to keep your metabolism high. but some people get pretty sleepy during the afternoon when they go on a low carb diet.

dont go on low-carb diets if you're already tired by the end of the day.

eat earlier (6-7pm) then dont eat anything after that, makesure you're eating just enough to satisfy you not till you're full, eat less oily fatty foods.

skipping meals may help you lose weight but at what cost? you'll get tired faster, hungry and cranky.

taking laxatives to loose weight imo is stupid.

just eat a more healthy balanced 3 meals a day, take 10minutes out of your morning before you shower and eat breakfast to exercise(simple weight lifting and such will be enough) and take 10minutes in the evening to do light exercises stretches and such. the exercise will help eleviate the stress and improve your mood(endorphines ftw!).

I see, thanks. The best option is to go for the non-carb diet? but my sis said that i cant do exercise if im going non-carb. Maybe some light exercise. Skipping dinner or any meal is definitely a no-no? Hmm, regarding the non-carb diet, should i avoid sugary or fatty food as well?

Nutrient timing. DO NOT LAY OFF CARBS, do not skip breakfast and try not to skip lunch! Your brain needs carbs to function. Consume the majority of your caloric intake early in the day, from morning to midafternoon, taper it down later in the day.
You can actually hardwire your metabolism if you do it right. Go for low GI carbs in the morning like oats (instant or quick cooking). Stay off shit like nasi lemak for breakfast.

You don't have to do anything drastic to lose weight. Small, simple changes to your lifestyle will do. Don't try to lose 10 kgs in a week, ridiculous. Aim small, miss small. Everything doesn't happen instantly. An overzealous method will result in a 99% failure rate in the long run.

Good luck!

What food should i eat and when should i eat? I see, high carbs in the morning and gradually decrease carb intakes throughout the day? Hmm, i'm not aiming to lose weight actually, just to slim down. Light, repetitive excercise will help alot i think.

Can I borrow this thread?

I'm more or less same with threadstarter and dont have much tme for exercise as well. I planned to do some 1 hour of rod skipping a day to help me burn some calories. Anything more than that is beyond my body take. Will rod skipping help? I dont have time to go gym or jogging or anything of sorts. Pls give some comments. And what about drinking chinese tea? does it help as well?

What exactly is rod skipping?
I presume it's skipping right?

1 hour of skipping, now that's major calories burning, but can you actually manage to pull off 1 hour of skipping? I'd probabbly lose all feel of my legs for 3 days after that (happens after a squat session tongue.gif )

There's an article about how to use the skipping rope. Like 5 minutes of normal speed, and then 30 seconds of very high intensity speeds and then 5 minutes of normal speeds then rest. And repeat for four or three sets. Roughly like that la.

if you're limited by time, look to do weight lifting. when i first started working out i didnt have much time but i lost over 30pounds under 5months with simple weight lifting and some pushups and squats, 10-15 minutes a day 5 days a week. be sure to stretch before and after, also makesure to drink enough water.

ofcourse you have to eat right aswell, cut back on the fatty stuff and such, try to avoid soft drinks at all costs, once or twice a month is fine though. you dont have to take out everything you like but just cut back a little at a time.

edited for stupid typos, gg.

because, weight does not equal body fat %. just because you're at the ideal weight does not mean you're not fat, you could be completely out of shape, fat and still be at the perfect weight for your height.
