QUOTE(abraham.P @ Jun 9 2006, 03:01 PM) Can we skip dinner to shave off unwanted weight? I'm about 176, 66KG. I intend to skip dinner so that i could shave off some weight. I'm quite busy with work, family, and girlfriend, so I don't really have time for exercise. Even if i do have time, i'm extremely tired. Is there any side-effect from skipping dinner? Is this method effective? I dont have appetite too lately, from stress. Or should i try a non-carb diet? My sis told me it's really effective, just stick to protein and vegetables. How about laxatives? Are they effective? I mean taking laxatives so that will have diarrhoea. Nutrient timing. DO NOT LAY OFF CARBS, do not skip breakfast and try not to skip lunch! Your brain needs carbs to function. Consume the majority of your caloric intake early in the day, from morning to midafternoon, taper it down later in the day. You can actually hardwire your metabolism if you do it right. Go for low GI carbs in the morning like oats (instant or quick cooking). Stay off shit like nasi lemak for breakfast. You don't have to do anything drastic to lose weight. Small, simple changes to your lifestyle will do. Don't try to lose 10 kgs in a week, ridiculous. Aim small, miss small. Everything doesn't happen instantly. An overzealous method will result in a 99% failure rate in the long run. Good luck!

QUOTE(samurai1337 @ Jun 14 2006, 10:28 PM) Instead of skipping dinner completely, eat something light like I do (like a cereal bar or something). And don't eat supper It depends on your goals. And at the end of the day it's calories in vs calories out. For me, supper is a must. Growth hormone synthesis occurs the most during sleep, but catabolism occurs the most during this phase. Some form of slow digesting protein (caseinate) is recommended. Of course eating nasi lemak, roti canai, mee goreng, etc is plain silly and asking for trouble. This is where the myth comes from. That eating supper makes you fat. Think, 8 hours of sleep, 8 hours of not eating, 8 hours of catabolism if your last meal is 3 hours before you sleep, most of the protein would have been digested. Your muscles will be leeching of amino acids from each other. Eating a proper supper before you sleep can actually hardwire your metabolism causing muscle gain and fat loss. QUOTE(samurai1337 @ Jun 14 2006, 11:58 PM) alright...good tips. But I don't eat much during night when I feel like it is not needed to I hear ya. I don't really feel hungry before i sleep too. And sometimes i seriously crave for nasi goreing cendawan and all that, but i guess bodybuilding is a lifestyle, not something just to be done on the side. I kinda envy those fellas who're eating the typical Malaysian supper sometimes. I basically have to force myself to eat a moderate sized healthy supper before i sleep or else i'll wake up starving!
