Hi guys, should I get this card? I currently hold a gold amex (without maybank logo) and realized how crappy the benefits are compared to the maybank 2. However a couple of places that i frequent do not accept amex and if i'm caught in an emergency situation and amex is not accepted then im screwed.

Thus I decided to apply for ocbc titanium last week. But now it seems like ocbc is dumping the card so i'm back to thinking if I should just go for this since it also comes with a visa/master for my emergency or non-amex accepting transactions.

You thoughts?

yes, you should change to maybank 2 cards instead for the benefits. they don't allow conversion, meaning you have to apply for the maybank 2 cards before terminating your existing one.

They do convert. I converted my Petronas Visa to MBB2.

you were able to??? the cs told me that there is no way they could do that!!! for me i terminated my petronas visa before applying mbb2 because i have other cards, while my wife applied mbb2 only to terminate the petronas visa... we called to different cs and they confirmed unable to convert... how come???

I guess the word/term used convert is incorrect. You can apply for the Maybankard 2 Card and after you have obtained the MBB 2 Cards, first thing to do is ask them to transfer the Treats Points in your Petronas Card to the new MBB 2 Visa or MC or AMEX account. Then cancel your Petronas card.

Ah yes. That's what happened. They even transferred my outstandng balance over. IIRC they are able to transfer everything except auto debit instructions and also Easy Pay.

that's much clearer now... however, i didn't realise about the ability to transfer the points over. anyway, we have redeemed most of the points before terminating the card. anyway, thanks a lot for the information!

No one... and Maybank won't waive it under any circumstances.

12500TP can redeem the GST already, with 5XTP on amex, is very easy to earn

That's INCORRECT... you set it to RM1.00 and any swipes above that will get a SMS Transaction Alert. Call the CS to set it up.

Did you get yours at the 1 hour card centre @ klcc?

i actually received SMS notifications for RM0.48 fb transactions lol.
i received notifications even before changing the alert amount to RM1, when i asked the operator he said maybe the first few times when you use the credit card you will receive SMS.

i guess auto debit is not include in alert, coz i never get my insurance auto debit alert since i request to rm1
