Hi guys, should I get this card? I currently hold a gold amex (without maybank logo) and realized how crappy the benefits are compared to the maybank 2. However a couple of places that i frequent do not accept amex and if i'm caught in an emergency situation and amex is not accepted then im screwed.
Thus I decided to apply for ocbc titanium last week. But now it seems like ocbc is dumping the card so i'm back to thinking if I should just go for this since it also comes with a visa/master for my emergency or non-amex accepting transactions.
You thoughts?

QUOTE(activexxx @ Oct 26 2013, 12:54 PM) Erm...used it for 4++ years only. I've been using amex gold card for more than 5 years, they have never waived the gst. You have to use your points to waive it.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(Gen-X @ Oct 28 2013, 01:07 PM) I am pleased to announced that I have published my third Credit Card Ultimate Showdown - The Best Top 10 Credit Cards in Malaysia 2014. And it is no surprised that the Maybankard 2 Cards Platinum is once again ranked second to none. As for the Maybankard 2 Cards Gold, based on my evaluation, is in my also still in my Top 10 Credit Cards list In view that Maybank Treats Points now have validity period of 3 years like most banks, I have included a new category for my evaluation, i.e. timeless evergreen reward points. A total of 22 credit cards were evaluated and reviewed plus one special evaluation in the conclusion. And from my review, the Maybankard 2 Cards Platinum (and Gold too in some cases) even beats premium credit cards when compared to Citibank Prestige MasterCard World and PremierMiles AMEX; AmBank Visa Infinite and World MasterCard; CIMB Visa Signature, CIMB World MasterCard and Visa Infinite; Hong Leong Bank Visa Signature; HSBC Visa Signature; RHB Visa Signature; and versus UOB Visa Infinite. Please click on the link below to find out the TOP TEN CREDIT CARD in Malaysia for 2014: The Best Top 10 Credit Card - Ultimate Showdown 2014 Dude you are awesome. If I didn't stumble upon your blog, I would have never discovered how good this card is. Kudos to you. This post has been edited by mgb: Oct 28 2013, 02:07 PM

QUOTE(jetpacker @ Oct 29 2013, 01:17 PM) hi guys...for the application of this card..do i need to pay anything? and also..is the 60 minutes approval deal still on currently? My platinum amex and visa got approved in 1 hour from maybank @ klcc yesterday. All they needed was my 3 months payslip because I wanted platinum. Try applying at KLCC Maybankcard Centre. It took me 1 hour to get my platinum cards. No need any documents since salary goes into maybank.

QUOTE(excelint @ Nov 15 2013, 04:30 PM) i will always use amex card wherever possible only if the merchant dont accept amex, i will use visa/master. therefore looking for replacement card Heck yeah, always use Amex where possible. Why not just use the mbb2 visa/master for those merchants that don't accept amex? You'd still get 1x points. Getting another card just for non-amex accepting situations might not be so viable if you dont spend alot on that card. The cards annual fee and RM50 gst might make you lose money if you don't meet requirements to waive/offset them. Just my humble opinion.

QUOTE(plumberly @ Jan 22 2014, 11:04 AM) Amex's cash back is valid for purchases on the weekend. Any reason why weekend and not the whole week? They charge a higher rate for weekend transactions and thus can afford for the cashback? What are the % fee charges for VISA/MASTER vs AMEX? Just wondering on the differences. Thanks. Just guessing the reason being that most working individuals or families only have time to shop on the weekends. Hence, this card is perfect to help them save more during their weekend shopping trips.

QUOTE(DarReNz @ Jan 22 2014, 02:59 PM) my opinion maybank doesn't want to make it easy for us to get cashback have to plan it for weekends Yeah that too is right, otherwise Amex might suffer the same fate as ocbc ti.
