Hangout has been a smooth experience for me so far. The UI is very fresh, I use it extensively with some of my friends. Hehe, even with the iOS users too

As per Ed Heyl, the Google release engineer who replaced JBQ:

We are making the proprietary binaries and factory images available for the Nexus 5 today as well.

In the coming weeks, other Nexus devices (Nexus 4, 7, and 10) will receive their KitKat update, and we'll make those proprietary binaries and factory images available at that time.

I check 1 hour ago, only ROM code uploaded... i check again just now, even the Kernel code is uploaded!

ROM: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/b.../android-4.4_r1
Kernel: https://android.googlesource.com/kernel/msm/
(hmm not 3.6 kernel as speculated)

Will try compile it this weekend when free...

one interesting feature in the new Android kitkat 4.4...

zRAM... i remember i added this to my custom ROM for Galaxy W back then.

it's actually a RamDisk. so, most frequently used stuff can be stored here. it will allow faster access than reading from your flash memory.

but, in low RAM device such as Galaxy W, with only 512mb, allocating a RamDisk will even make available memory even less for OS and app.

the solution, zRAM. you compress the RamDisk. the trick is to use Zip algorithm that can unzip REALLY fast. we can forgo the compress time, it's ok to be slower because we only compress when we store something. what is really important is ACCESS time. which mean the decompression time. i used LZO algo back then.

nice to know some of this old stuff coming back to the new Android.

TLDR: custom ROM/kernel developer has been using some of these stuff in 4.4 wayyyyyy back ehhehe

Hi,

I purchased my N4 from UK earlier this year.

I have since smashed the back glass and my power button is not as responsive.

Could someone tell me where I can get it fixed or replaced in KL?

Thanks

Thanks, any idea how much it would cost?

Would warranty still be considered?

B3. My front-screen / back-screen got cracked sad.gif How much will it cost to repair for local / US sets?
QUOTE
As screen cracking are not within the warranty's coverage, both local and US sets will be charged by LG Malaysia (at Kelana Jaya Service Centre or other branches, call them up to check) for screen replacements, according to most forummers here whom had repaired their cracked screen.

Front-Screen Replacement: RM350
Back-Glass Replacement: RM180

Non-local sets will be charged an extra of RM30 (confirmed for front-screen by damned_dude, need confirmation for back-glass)

Also, they will usually replace it on-the-spot for you (takes around 15 ~ 30 minutes) if they have ready-stocks for changing parts. You might want to give them a call before paying them a visit to save time!
