QUOTE(Enigmatic @ Mar 12 2007, 06:44 PM) Lurking around lowyat for the second day, still can't find any good chips. FP-C4 ones seem to be phased out and replaced with FP-Y5. That's what National Service does to you. Wastes your opportunities. =.= Trying to order something from yehlai.. Else do you have anything else to recommend Soulfly? Thanks ya. if u find one...hope u can tell us all wht chip it is...

Else do you have anything else to recommend Soulfly? Thanks ya. try to look for those 1GB Kingston... from my observation, a lot of the current batches use D9Gxx Micron... for example like 1GB DDR533 may use D9GCT, 1GB DDR667 may use D9GMH, and 1GB DDR800 may use D9GKX. But of course you need to look at the chips properly la.

I went around and done some checking, didn't dare to buy some of the relabeled ones la. To me I find it risky. Probably the newer batches uses Microns. 1GB 533 uses D9GHM. Older 1GB 667 uses D9DCL. Newer ones use hynix FP-Y5. I am happy with my D9GMH lu. Broke the curse, and still going strong. What made them use Micron chips on their rams man? I thought Kingston got filed for a lawsuit about a month ago?

At lowyat. About a week ago they had some really strange batches of KVR coming in. Two days ago All IT took in new stock, and they got D9GMH. 5 pieces got sold off in 24 hours. I checked around and found around 8 pieces in Sri. Got sapu by me, coolice and irangan. Newer batches might not be D9GMH anymore. I'll post some test results and pics tomorrow. IF I am as good as the others.

But frankly speaking, why is Kingston using those chips on their value rams? Hmmm.... Desperate attempt to sell off their rams to fill up the lost due to the lawsuit?

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(soulfly @ Aug 16 2006, 01:33 AM) sorry for not being able to do some testing for my TX-DDR2, I was at my friend's house(ddww) the whole night testing his Hynix (OEM) C4-based 2x1GB modules (they aren't dual channel kits). The RAM was rated at DDR533 CL4-4-4-12. As was expected... it ran all the way up to DDR1060 with CL5-5-5-12 without any issue (tested with SuperPi 16M/32M) on Intel P4-630 and Gigabyte DS3 with 2.2Vdimm. We used 1:2 divider to push the RAM to the max. Here are some screenies (sorry....did not capture 32M) SuperPi 16M @ DDR2-1060 5-5-4-12 (2.2Vdimm) *Please note that these are OEM Hynix DDR533 1GB modules, not Kingston/Corsair/Apacer or whatsoever. Unless they're old stocks, most OEM Micron nowadays are using the smaller rectangular BGA which are actually less overclockable compare to the classic 'fatbody' Micron or the newer square BGA Micron. The good square ones are supposed to be 'premium' chips....so they're the least expected on OEM DDR533/667 Micron. Those Micron DDR2 on Lelong.com.my are just the normal ones. this the soulfly result for C4, but is hynix oem la not kingston This post has been edited by taxidoor: Mar 14 2007, 10:46 PM
