..and also, did anyone identify any DDR2 that has great overclockability? Not just in term of speed, but the timing as well....

Which DDR2 to get for overclocking?

(coming)

from what i read, it's cooler compare to DDR

but i might be wrong as well if it only applies to certain ddr2 chip only

Anyway.... regarding the Micron's D9 chips...

from what I understand, D9 is just a code for Micron's DDR2 chips. the superior one was the 'fat body' D9 chips. but how does the normal D9 chips overclock (which are not fat body)?

if a system is running with both FSB and DRAM in synchronous, the memory will run four times the speed of the FSB (actual speed).

ex:

Intel 200MHz FSB (800MHz quad pumped) : DDR2-800 = 1:1

I still need to wait for my 7300gt for my new rig to be ready cry.gif

While waiting for some TeamXtreem DDR2, I got a piece of 512MB relabelled Corsair DDR2-667 with square BGA chips.... possibly Elpida. Can't wait to test it.

So how? Mau include it in first?
Can also... but it's just single channel mode.

QUOTE(siauann @ Jul 22 2006, 06:02 PM)
i was wondering wat chipset does gskill memory use? im curious cz gskill seems cheaper thn any other ocz or team xtreem price... smile.gif
Gskill most likely using Elpida chips, or maybe Aeneon or any other 'value chips'.... only the 1GBHZ/2GBHZ are confirmed using Micron D9 chips (most probably D9GMH).

any code to recognize it?
any possible to get fatboy D9 in value ram?
no, especially nowadays fatbody is no more in production.

anyway... it's fatbody... not fatboy.

QUOTE(D@rk @ Aug 8 2006, 10:29 PM)
Ur bandwidth efficiency is 88-89%? That very high, mine is around 63-64% even my timing is tighter at 2T.
I guess it like S754, single channel give 90+% even on any timing at 1T.
X2 will benefit DDR2 a lot. 10k in memory benchmark is so easy with X2 AM2.

probably DDR is a bottleneck for X2 S939.

QUOTE(irenic @ Aug 8 2006, 09:19 PM)
elpida chip is good, but better if u can get micron.

normally elpida chip is marked with a 3 dot at the edge of the ram chip.

while micron is marked with single brown dot at one of the edge.
some Elpida chip are quite good... like the 6E-E

but generally, Elpida can be considered moderately okay.

Micron square BGA are the current best. There are smaller rectangular type, but they don't do as well as the squares. 'Fatbody' is rectangular BGA, but the chip is big like DDR TSOP, but slightly wider.

1024x2 Mushkin DDR2 800  with green heatspreader (dunno what chipset)
@ddr2 888 4-5-5-15 2.1vdimm
They are Aeneon (a division of Infineon).

Still better to use Brand like Kingston.
Please justify your point.

Kingston is long time ignored by overclockers for your information.

the new Kingston Value RAM DDR2-800 1GB have Micron on it. I think at Compuzone is RM600... expensive...lol! 512MB module will probably have different chips I guess.

forgot about the timing for that KVR
