I have not open my 42008 box yet, so can't provide comparison.
42008 comes with LA (Linear Actuator) and 2x mini-pneumatic.
8110 comes with 2x pneumatic and 1x mini-pneumatic.

Both operates using same mechanism, using M-motor to power up the 6L pump (only exists in 8110 and 42008) for compressed air.

Therefore, on pneymatics alone, 8110 wins in my opinion.
As alternative, yes, I think 42008 as current set is good enough.
This is true for all Technics fans and to have the right expectation.
Most Lego Technics does not move at fast speed, except the one with RC-buggy motor (EOL already).

Also, any metal parts, even though it is coated thin layer, will eventually rust if use outdoor.
Worse are some moving parts like pneumatics cylinder.
Cleaning it up will also be troublesome.

42008 also uses the same air-compressor method as 8110.
Previous Technics sets uses the manual pump method.

Yeah, no thanks to you I got poisoned into building the Ultimate 42009! lol! Just ordered the motors, receivers and remotes and it already costs me a few hundred Ringgit! Next comes the big challenge of sourcing the parts... I see another few hundred Ringgit  there flying out the window...

At the time 8110 came out in 2011 it was the 2nd technic set to come with a compressor. 42008 while it has a compressor only came out this year.

I've receive a gigantic Elmo sesame street plush toy that has hug, talk, lullaby function as an "extra" item from Amazon yesterday.

I bet it was sent wrongly, so the honest me emailed Amazon to inform them of the wrong delivery of this extra item that i did not order nor was i charged.

Amazon told me they've prepared a return label for me to return my LEGO to them. !@#$%^&* I'll replied them, if i get another crap semi-automated reply i'm gonna unbox the gigantic plush elmo for my daughter!

p/s i wonder how does the hug function works with Elmo... never been hugged by a toy before *shy*

1st time heard they ask to return. Lol

tell them about the distance. if its < 20/30 GBP, u don hv to return. conclusion, sometimes too honest to them, u will regret.

anyway, anyone know if 8110 gonna retire next year? so far, the technic sets that i've seen, 8110 and 42000 are nice IMO
