QUOTE(cruiseantz @ Oct 4 2013, 10:13 PM) Haha QUOTE(paanjang16 @ Oct 4 2013, 10:24 PM) Looking at the extra parts list... I think I almost have the parts to do this ultimate MKII wow But need to disassemble my excavator and my MK2 to do it. at first i though just simply add on those parts but from the instruction, this RC MOC require to build the MK2 from start... for us who already finish the MKII, require to disasemble it... QUOTE(bloodghost @ Oct 4 2013, 10:34 PM) well, u can find more info at this linki did not have sharp eyes but from the video, I did not see much different from original other than the receiver... this is what i found on this link about the MOC of MKII: Funtions that were improved: * Boom extends further. Max boom-length 96 studs * Boom retractrs further * Better steering-lock * Solid metal hook * Increased lifting power * Faster outriggers * More efficient drivetrains |

QUOTE(scpt @ Oct 5 2013, 12:46 AM) yeah, that's what lego should be, build, dismantle and MOC QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Oct 5 2013, 04:14 AM) If I strip out from all other sets, I have all the motors, remotes, cables, lights, etc. well, not sure about this but maybe can replace the L motor with others motor...Parts can source from Bricklink. M-motors can buy several 8293 sets, or dismantle from 8043, which I don't plan to dismantle. But the bad news for most will be the L-motors. As of now, no parts available and the only way is to strip (even from Bricklink) from 9398 or 41999 or 42009 set (can't recall if any other sets has L-motor). Unless you have spare sets, else you have to take the others apart. I have a spare 9398 striped out Oh, it's from Jurgen again. The ultimate-8043 comes from him also, which I already did and it's more functional. Most probably I will mod-42009 with new-source parts And yes, I dismantle nearly whole 8043 for the ultimate-8043. Therefore, it won't be that difficult to do the same for 42009, although this is a huge set. Also, finally coming back to KL over this weekend QUOTE(sherwin @ Oct 5 2013, 11:30 AM) Here's the upcoming modular wow 10243 Parisian Restaurant Ages 16+. 2,469 pieces. QUOTE(Lego_Jason @ Oct 7 2013, 11:23 PM) Bro, if I may suggest in the future you take the parts out of the plastic wrapper before taking photos? The photo will look better. sorry Also if I may add, equip them on the minifigs to show how well (or not) they fit... Berapa $$$ ah? will take out the wrapper in future for me, it not too loose or too tight, just perfectly fit in price, RM10 for 3 packets (about 4+ weapons in 1 packet) some new pictures here if anyone interest » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « some minifigures with their original weapon as comparison i guess not too hard to find out... QUOTE(Lego_Jason @ Oct 8 2013, 11:38 PM) Thanks for the photos bro! well, for the scale, i put the same one that i have at the same minifig for comparison...From the looks of it the fit is good but dunno if its the angle or the scale is slightly larger than original minifigs weapons? the bow, rifle/machine gun seems fine but the brown sword and the brown one at ocean king seems slightly longer QUOTE(ryucando @ Oct 9 2013, 11:55 AM) Good Morning AFOLS, well, for playability, maybe those come with motorised function is your choice...Since I personally do not have many interesting sets to look forward to for the rest of the year. I am thinking of getting my hands dirty on a technics set. So my question to those experienced technics kaki and sifus. What would be a good one and only set to own? I am looking at playability (the 4x4 crawler maybe).- zip around the house maybe outside (by the way would it be able to do outdoors?) Have no idea on crane, flatbed and the rest?? I am breaking my own AFOL rule of staying away from technics (only 1 set to satisfy my curiosity) 9398 really a good choice, it comes with remote control function (RC can easily to add in if u have the parts and know how to) for us who already familiar with technic, we aim for bigger, more complex sets but for beginner, maybe u can start from small or medium sets... bigger sets means cost more, need more time to build, more space to display and more finger pain but comes with bigger satisfaction if ur flatbed means 8109, this set not bad actually the flat part nice for display if space is your issue (u can put other collectibles at flat part) for the crane, i only own 42009 and it has a lot of parts and need a long time to build... probably a little bit of difficult for beginner (hard to finish in a day) but of course, the satisfaction when finish is really good (but the finger pain really bad), the 42009 crane full extend is about 77cm, about waist level... of course, there are 4x4, construction vehicle, F1, crane, truck, motor if you are looking for specific vehicle (maybe i missed out some others) just choose based on your budget and interest will fine... experience will come eventually as you own/build/play with it... just share my own opinion about Lego Technic, this does not mean to offend anyone and I'm sorry if this have offend anyone QUOTE(Lego_Jason @ Oct 9 2013, 06:19 PM) Oops! You are right! My bad, it is pneumatics and not hydraulics. Ashamed to call myself an engineer! 8043 and 42009 are my favourites too. Currently sourcing parts to build the ultimate 42009... QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Oct 9 2013, 06:30 PM) Aiya ... My 42009 box is still in plastic bag ... but maybe I source for parts first, for the ultimate-42009. is the ultimate 42009 the one that i shared before? My worry is on the number of M-motors ... cause I don't want to dismantle my 8043 looks like i'm manage to spread the poison here let me share the link again QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Oct 9 2013, 07:03 PM) Did a quick check at BL for those with >1 units thanks for the details M-motor = usd8 L-motor = usd15 non-related servo-motor = usd34 XL-motor = usd16 Not yet count delivery & our friendly local Customs 10% tax, which will be more due to motor-weight. Doing any parts-CS ? looks like a CS is coming soom QUOTE(paanjang16 @ Oct 9 2013, 08:10 PM) Once you go down the Technic path, there is no turning back! First you buy the 42009, then after that 8110, then followed by 8043 motorized excavator, 8275 motorized bulldozer, 8258 crane truck, 8880 supercar, 8448 super street sensation, 8868 air-tech claw rig etc. I know since I started with crane truck and then every year buy the flagship technic set (last year was an exception though, skipped the crawler) nice collection ![]() ![]() I do not own the crawler, but Technic models are definitely not meant to be played outdoors. There's a video from Technic-bricks where they drove their crawler on the beach but they warn people against doing so. This is because dirt/sand might enter into the gearing and grind the gears out. The gears are all plastic and not meant for heavy usage. If you really do need to buy a Technic set each year, then better buy the flagship technic set. The smaller ones no shiok lah. 8110 is much more complex and larger than 42008 when it comes to pneumatics. Not only that but 8110 is also much larger and has a much higher piece count. Prior to the Mobile crane Mk2 it was the largest technic set at 2048 pieces. Then it has 4 wheel drive and suspension, motorized winch and turnable, 4 super big wheels and rims, comes with Mercedes logo and in cool orange livery. ![]() For pnuematic functions you control 3 different functions via the 3 switches- the claw, the top part of the arm and bottom part of the arm. Compared to 42008 you only control the wheel holder (if that is what it is called) ![]() The 8110 is the 2nd model to have a compressor after its grandfather 8868 Air-tech claw rig. The 8868 comes from the 90s so you can see that the construction method is different. ![]() Recycling my old photo for this post. I really need retake all of them again and see all of them line up in a row. I wonder how big is the 42009 compared to my other behemoths like the 8110 or 8258. that's even some nice old sets from your info, The 8110 is the 2nd model to have a compressor after its grandfather 8868 Air-tech claw rig, is that means the 42008 don't have compressor? i thought pneumatic require compressor to work |

QUOTE(Ultraman the great @ Oct 10 2013, 11:25 AM) haha QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Oct 10 2013, 10:37 AM) I have not open my 42008 box yet, so can't provide comparison. 42008 comes with LA (Linear Actuator) and 2x mini-pneumatic. 8110 comes with 2x pneumatic and 1x mini-pneumatic. Both operates using same mechanism, using M-motor to power up the 6L pump (only exists in 8110 and 42008) for compressed air. Therefore, on pneymatics alone, 8110 wins in my opinion. As alternative, yes, I think 42008 as current set is good enough. This is true for all Technics fans and to have the right expectation. Most Lego Technics does not move at fast speed, except the one with RC-buggy motor (EOL already). Also, any metal parts, even though it is coated thin layer, will eventually rust if use outdoor. Worse are some moving parts like pneumatics cylinder. Cleaning it up will also be troublesome. Yes, the link you shared before (Jurgen's) Yeah, I'm planning to buy maybe few M-motor, PM Lego_Jason 42008 also uses the same air-compressor method as 8110. Previous Technics sets uses the manual pump method. QUOTE(Lego_Jason @ Oct 10 2013, 05:21 PM) Yeah, no thanks to you I got poisoned into building the Ultimate 42009! lol! Just ordered the motors, receivers and remotes and it already costs me a few hundred Ringgit! Next comes the big challenge of sourcing the parts... I see another few hundred Ringgit there flying out the window... QUOTE(paanjang16 @ Oct 10 2013, 07:47 PM) At the time 8110 came out in 2011 it was the 2nd technic set to come with a compressor. 42008 while it has a compressor only came out this year. thanks for all the pneumatic info the ultimate 42009 really nice but i'm plan to familiar myself with the remote control system first before attemp to order parts for the Ultimate 42009 QUOTE(leo730 @ Oct 10 2013, 06:09 PM) wow |

QUOTE(ryucando @ Oct 14 2013, 02:18 PM) Such a wealth of knowledge here ! you're welcome A big thank you to all that shared their stories on technics (paanjang, jason, faish888, cute boboi, zemperor and many more). After reading all your recommendations, it did take me a while (whole weekend and more) to research and look up those model number that were mentioned. all EOL sets... better stay away, don't even dare to look. 9398 - since it does not zip around..... a bit bleh.... 8110 does looks like first option, but price?? 42000 - again may not zip around for what it represents... maybe the engineering will be interesting. 42008 or 42009 hmmmm.... maybe start with the cheaper one Thank you all again. just sharing my opinions QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Oct 14 2013, 04:14 PM) If you think price is expensive, try start with medium size like: 42007 moto-cross not bad also 42006 excavator 42007 moto-cross small size: 42004 mini-excavator If may not trigger you to like Technic, although there are mechanical/engineering stuff involve, but just minimal. However, at least it won't overwhelm you like the big sets mention earlier. just finish build mine last weekend and it got biggest wheels and gears (please correct me if i'm wrong) it also comes with suspension, v2 engine and the chain QUOTE(ryucando @ Oct 14 2013, 04:30 PM) i know the small ones will not give me the kick. 8110, 42008 and 42009 is nice but as always, most of the nice one comes with expensive price (maybe 42008 consider cheap, i found RM500 at TRU)so i have more or less decided on 8110 (if still can find at good price). failing which will go for 42008 then maybe if like it - 42009. i'm wondering not many ppl recommended 8109 (looks nice.. but is it maybe not much playability??). for 8109, it's motorised function only at flatbed and the back (dunno what it called, something like a support) i'm sure u can find more info from review or just the box art... however, it did not come with engine, suspension, or differential gears... a little bit difficult to modify for remote control... the rear wheels are not fixed, it is flexible and support from the flatbed part so the rear will lower when flatbed is raised... and i think it will be more difficult if transfer motor power to front wheel... maybe the B model will be easier to modify for remote control but not sure about it since i haven't build the B model yet and the price quite expensive also... but of course, difficult does not means impossible |

Biggest = no QUOTE(ilfort @ Oct 16 2013, 12:47 PM) nice combination i still have not open my 70403 yet QUOTE(scpt @ Oct 16 2013, 01:15 PM) AFAIK China operations started few years back, initially for CMF and certain figs are made in China. Comparison can be seen here: well, that's probably a good news if the price drop for those lego that are produce at china...http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=2332 Once the new factory in China is done then I think they will start producing sets there "affordable" for taikuns Bricksworld having 10 dollars discount, if don't have then will be same price like here d but i myself prefer better quality more than cheaper price QUOTE(elementz @ Oct 16 2013, 03:45 PM) Preparation for vacancy at the Parisian Restaurant.. wow Grand opening in 2014.. ![]() Waiter/Waitress Training 101.. |
