thanks for the info, in this case i will just pick any free af credit card. any recommendation that can provide high credit limit? if all the same, any card can offer alot of features/discount? cash back or points is not a concern at all cause minimal use.

[Hi,

If I wish to apply credit card for monthly petrol RM100 only , shopping estimate RM50 only, e-commerce with hotel booking and e-ticket (overseas), and travelling may be once a year.... which card is suitable for me?

my salary < RM 40k.

Is it ok if I use Maybank 2 card (amex n mastercard) n combine CIMB cash rebate gold card?

Amex = use weekend on petrol and shopping.

Weekday = use CIMB ...

Travel use either CIMB or Maybank master card or maybank debit card.......(transaction charges = 1% ) , Amex 2.5% so better don't use right.....

Hotel & airline booking use CIMB /mastercard??

Example if I need to pay RM3000 permonth for online transaction.

a)If use Amex pay all Rm3000, cash rebate =RM50, rewards points = 15000,right?

b)If book hotel use Amex pay RM2000, cash rebate = RM50,rewards points = 10000
Then use CIMB CC (mastercard) pay RM1000, cash rebate = RM30,no rewards points??

Actually I am newbie to cc, is CIMB CC 5% cashback only apply to weekend? If e-commerce also apply to weekend ,then at least more optional.

Thanks biggrin.gif

what you need to also consider is whether the petrol/shopping/e-commerce merchants (which you targeted) accept amex or not.

also, monthly 5% max cb for mbb2cards is rm50 (but unlimited tp). monthly 5% max for cimb is rm30 (but no points). mbb 5% cb applicable to weekends only but cimb 5% everyday.

if you spend rm600 use cimb card which can be use any day so already maxed rm30 and wait for next statement to start spending again. if you have amount more than 1k or u still need to make online transactions on the same month/statement u should use mbb cards on weekends.

for travel overseas use mbb card cos cimb don't have points. best card overseas is aeon card.

for hotel booking if is agoda, u can use either cards just have to remember spend rm600 for cimb but for booking.com remember to use mbb card only

when come to payment, you need to pay statement balance within 20 days from your statement date. paying only minimum amount will incur interest.

Hi,

So, example, if I get statement date on 30th Sep. I need to pay by latest 20th Oct , in order to get free interest.

And,
a)For MBB 2 gold
>Minimum monthly paymentRM25 or 5% of outstanding amount

--> as long as I make transaction > RM 25 per month, and pay within 20days from statement date, I should be free interest and can use online Maybank2U to pay.

And MBB can used treat points to offset GST = rm100 per year.

which means for light user CC (just for petrol and light shopping) , still no win or lose.

b) For CIMB cash rebate gold card

Minimum monthly payment =RM50

---> so, I have to make transaction > rm 50 per month, in order to get interest free.

And, I have to spend at least RM1000 per year for online purchase (in order to offset GST RM50/year)

Thks

1) if you spent rm500, you need to pay full rm500 within 20 days after your statement date. paying just minimum amount will not incur late charges but still will incur finance charges.
2) if you didn't spend anything, you don't have to pay any minimum payment at all.

Good day. May I know which credit card is best to use to pay for monthly insurance that will entitle good cash back? I know some cards exclude insurance from their list, thus, would like to check further here. Thanks!

Thanks. I've heard of this card, but it is indeed a setback with the cash back scheduled for every three months.

Thanks. I have this card too...1% seems too low, was looking if there's any others that may get higher, lol...

I'll consider both options while waiting to see if there are others.

1. Annual Income: > 100k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Preferred.

3. Card required for: All expenses on weekend > M2Amex
Dining, Groceries, Online Transaction > PB VS
Plaza Premium Lounge in KLIA > Aeon Gold
Backup Online Transaction > CIMB CB Plat
Insurance > auto debit to PBVS (Allianz Life Insurance does not accept Amex sad.gif)

4. Existing credit cards if any: M2Amex, PB VS, Aeon Gold, CIMB CB Plat

5. Looking at CC from: MBB Visa Signature, Citibank CC

6. Others:

Currently I'm holding cards as below. My priority would be M2Amex > PBVS > CIMB CB. Aeon Gold just purely BT.

I'm thinking to get a card to swipe for petrol during weekdays and access to PPL on both KLIA and KLIA2.
The best that come into my mind would be MBB Visa Signature. But I don't think I can spend 50K to get Annual Fee waiver (unless they accept BT for 50k usage, do they?).. haha..

Any suggestion for auto debit card that can give cashback for insurance? Initially think of Aeon Watami, but it required 3k spending per quarter. Not sure I can make it or not because my spending kind of random. Sometimes I spend 5k a month, sometimes just few hundreds.

On the other hand, I'm also looking on Citibank CC since the Rm300 cashback kind of atttractive.

Thx all Sifu
