QUOTE(old_calculator @ Sep 4 2014, 03:02 PM) so dissapointed with 1gb ram. if not i would but it straight away This is the super entry level Windows Tablet meant to compete against the lower priced Android tablets, I myself am curious at how well can 1GB be used to run Windows, my theory is that Modern UI apps should be fine because they can be memory managed more efficiently, but multi tasking your desktop apps is gonna be a stretch. DOTA 2? ahahahah, the Graphics clock is slower than the Acer W4's which was just barely about to play DOTA2 with only 2GB of RAM so I really don't think that's possible. But anyway... you're gonna see a lot of these cheap Windows Tablets coming from everyone, so if you're worried about build quality of this thing, you can wait for the one by Acer.. I think they just call it, Acer W.

QUOTE(jeopardise @ Sep 4 2014, 05:48 PM) W4-820 have GPS, but reception not so good. In the control panel there is setting for location service. Are you sure W4-820 have GPS? I thought only W4-821 model has it. How do you set it then? Thanks.

i just tested, w4-820 indeed has gps, but official specs make no mention of it whatsoever. the gps came from the wifi module, if u turn on airplane mode or turn off wifi, gps wont work, if u only turn on wifi but not connected to any wifi, gps still works. i using this windows 8 apps to test all the sensors. http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-my/ap...59-b067574ae461

Basically if you are in business, these sort of tablets are very useful to do some light MS Office work while traveling. For stock brokers, its a blessing as you have real time full featured access to the market while on the go. Android & IOS apps dont seem to cut it for them cause many have noticed what's displayed on their tablet seemed to be delayed at times. For things like reply emails, smartphones are the choice most of the time. For uni students taking notes is a blessing due to the long battery life & the flexibility of completing their assignments, copy & paste across MS office, linking excel charts & worksheets is all enhancing their capabilities following their graduation & moving into the job market. I notice this weakness for Android/IOS generation graduates cause they struggle when it comes to using business programs.

Install map apps , go figure. I can add status and detect my location with Facebook. i am using W4-820 no sim. I've updated with latest BIOS 1.15, available in Acer website. Any idea what does it fix? This post has been edited by jeopardise: Sep 5 2014, 08:15 AM

Can always add 64gb microsd to increase storage & embed it as part of c drive. Then all yr programs can install & run off microsd. Also can partition part of the 16G as virtual memory to assist the 1G ram. I believe this will make it a more usable device.

Some programs like Adobe Creative Suite, Office won't install on 'removable' drive. Believe me, I've tried. This post has been edited by jeopardise: Sep 8 2014, 04:34 PM
