probably cheaper to use micro to std hdmi adapter & use the std hdmi cable instead. Found retailers selling the adapter for around RM10....

After showing my friend the Lenovo miix2, he was sold on getting an 8in Win8 tablet as well. But we checked out the Acer dealers in IT Mall, sect 13 - no stock.

Reason for the low W4 supply is because their W3, W510, W700 tablet sales were low. All their dealers & distributer giving same excuses that there is very low demand for Windows tablet. When these sort of communications goes to the top management, they dont dare to carry more stocks considering the general market sentiment is poor & buyers are very cautious of increased living cost.

I was having bfast one day & the fellow sitting next table happened to be one of the local Microsoft mgmt person coordinating Windows pc sales in M'sia. He was giving same kind of reporting to his overseas boss over the phone.

Ha..ha.. since when IT sales ppl really sell a notebook? Compared to direct sales ppl, they can sell you things you don't need. Now that is selling !!!

Wow...called up several dealers & was told new W4 stocks only arriving next year?

W4 could be the best selling 8in Win tab for Msia just like Dell VP8 in USA....if they could flood the market before the rest of the competitors do next year.

I have such weird experienced with different USB cables as well. Bought some cheap USB cables from Mr DIY store & it can't charge my Lumia phone from portable battery charges. Same cable used from the wall charger, no problem. Switching to the supplied USB cable from phone or portable charger charges the phone without problem from portable charger.

Moral of the story, not all USB cables are created equal !

On another note, my Miix2 seems to be the least picky on portable chargers as per my posting over at tabletpcreview.

For Autocad, suggest you pop in a 64GB Sandisk Extreme microsdxc with 80MBps UHS-1, class 10 and use virtual ram off it.

It will certainly help when opening large CAD files. I do that for opening large Google Sketchup files on my end. Higher ram is needed especially when u need to rotate model in 3D. By the way I can really feel the difference between normal other brand class 10 vs extreme microsdxc. During 3D rotating, there is less lag time.

Of course don't expect too much from the Atom but it provides enough capability to do editing or viewing of design while on the go in such a compact form factor.

For most outdoor ppl, 4hrs is not enough for day use & its worst than the battery life of ultrabooks or laptops. Don't forget to add the weight of the charger cable. Often users end up needing to find a place with wall power supply to continue using just like normal laptops.

With the atom tablets, I can bring pc work to the most remote part of the world without electricity supply for several days. Heck the 8in tab + power banks wont even weight more than most ultrabook!

How is the performance of games with latest bluestacks? The last time I install & test on i5 touch screen laptop, it runs horrible. The best was still to do hdd partition & dual boot the OS if one still needs android.

I saw the E6700 selling at Challenger Singapore & also some stores in Sim Lim Square last week. Didn't check the price though as I just browsing through.

Maybe can check SG online stores to see....

One thing about trackpad keyboards, they are hard to use in Win8 especially when u need to drag & left click same time. Its not the same as type on keyboard & navigate on touch screen which is so much faster.

Dropped by IT Mall at 2.30pm. Asked Acer dealer at the entrance & he said no more RM899 units. Got stock for RM1099. Dunno if its a gimmick or not to get ppl to the Mall.

Was thinking of getting one for my wife. Since no urgency for the tab, I'll wait for the next bargain offer.

I'm sure by the time Asus vivo tab 8 launch, the price will be permanently RM899....no need to rush for limited units.

There is UC Browser for Win 8 tablet. Its the most popular browser for WP8 phones & having pc version is great.
