QUOTE(aio015 @ Feb 1 2014, 09:12 PM)
You may be right, but playing with API has been in practice for a while already, even before the patch...so I can't directly relate the current API issue with commie releasing the patch. It may be what trigger DMM and KDKW, but it may also be the case of bad timing. Bottom line is, I don't want to start blaming without any hard evidence against them. The main reason given for the tighter security is "to reduce cheating".

Back to KCV and sanaechan, even if these programs help display more data/info from the stock player, we are still bounded by the game rules e.g. we can see what ship we are building but we still cannot choose the ship we want or we know the fatigues level of individual ships but we cannot remove the fatigue without using the provided means (mamiya food supply).

If I were the dev, these things are very low in my priority because they don't impact the game the way cheaters do. It might not be considered as an issue even, because the harmless nature of the program. I have other more issues to handle, like those actual cheaters, increasing server capacity, new contents, and maintenance.

I even feel that the devs know that we foreigners are playing the game, but they may have decided to turn a blind eye over us. Why? For the company, any new player is a source of income, regardless of the origin. Plus, they also know that these foreigners are not just leechers i.e. they do purchase stuffs of the in-game store, which create revenue. My theory is that if they limit the pool to only Japanese, sooner or later they will have no more new entries, but on the other hand, they don't want to open the floodgate and freely let everyone around the world join them when they have enough issues at hand trying to handle the server load. So they play silence for now. Another plus side also, the more exposure the game gets, the more people will buy the merchandise when they come out later. So in actual, it's a win-win situation for them.
*
the main reason main ppl are pointing at commie is that anon's of 4ch already huge disliked for commie even before the API expiring incident and even earlier than their english patch becuz RHE from commie actually hacked the game (like getting Yamato on a server that started after her event and before LSC [I think it done by accessing old event maps]). I also know other ppl manage to put like AP shell on Kongou class or 46cm on CA

In theory, KCV and sanaechan only reads the data stream becuz of that, it is "in theory" not possible for DMM to detect it unless they are specifically looking for it

Kadokawa has come out and say that they don't care about foreigners playing the game but dont expect any support from them or making any business decision involving us thou

Also, I think it was a horrible design on the dev's part to begin with that would even allowed us to play it thru the API

Making Kancolle using flash player as a platform itself is already a horrible decision by itself lol. I dislike flash player.
The world should be done away with flash player soon and move on to HTML 5.

But I know that is still too far fetched to hope for as the very fabric of the internet is still entangled in flash still.

Something they won't set aside limited resource to do so, so we could let out a breath of relief for now.

I believe flash game is easier to develop and more widely supported? I could be wrong though. Maybe back then they only wanted to make simple game, but really, who would have thought Kancolle to be such a big hit?

No, you are right. It's easier to make games in flash compared than in HTML 5. And yes it is more backward compatible. But flash for mobile is awful and I want to play kancolle on my phone/tablet etc instead of just on laptops/desktop computers. Where else HTML5 for mobile is awesome.

I know, right? LOL.

I know. I can't help myself sometimes to sent them back on expeditions after their current one expired. If it was only created on a different platform, we would have been able to play on our phones/tablets without worrying though this is just my assumption.

But just only on rare occasions. Don't regularly play on my phone but yes I am guilty as charged.

I'm currently just teamviewer back to my home computer when I want to check on my girls. Not the best solution but the only method I know that won't get me ban (still unsure if using phone/tablet are bannable offense, I remember reading it)

Actually I was just being optimistic of my hate money shield. I had use teammviewer too but the lack of touchscreen and the lag (depending on the internet connection). I used Puffin Browser(paid version) which have their own built in flash player and it seems to work fine. The graphics seems to dumbed down and all, but I could played Kancolle quite smoothly. (which is never the case if I use other browser and a flash player installed from playstore or play it through teamviewer).

I used data and after I sent all my girls back on their expedition and everything I only used a mere 20MB....in which I am surprised compared when I use say like Dolphin Browser....my data usage was like 70MB used(probably more) after I am done.

Dev discouraged playing from phones/tablet but not sure if it is a strong bannable offense flag though.

They say that they discourage playing the game via phone/tablets because the cache size is very limited and therefore a lot of the game data has to be re-download to the client side, which increase traffic/server load (that's also why when you clear cache or start kancolle fresh, it takes a long while for the download bar before the start to move, and a lot of things are slow at the beginning). Kancolle is actually a heavy game lol.

Yeah, I know about the cache but the funny thing when I played on my phone using Puffin Browser built in flash player, I expected load time to be slow(which it wasn't lol) and that my data usage to be huge but after it loads the game, I start playing and sending my girls for expedition, I only use like about 20/30MB of data after I quit the game. I thought I would be burning about 100mb to 250MB of data but it didn't. Strange.

But puffin browser in built flash player(which I believe is optimized in some way) load less data or something because my in-game performance was actually as smooth when I played on computer. The only downside is the resolution is kinda bad but negligible. Otherwise, normally it would just crash if I played on a different browser with the standard flash player installed.

If I'm not mistaken, puffin actually downloads the game files to their servers to perform remote flash execution so it offloads the cpu intense off your device and streams the result to your phone/tablet. Hence why, you feel its fastest and uses less data.
Just saying what I think, its your choice on how you play with your girls

Ah I see. That's why though I wonder whether the game files stays in their servers once downloaded. I mean if so, it wouldn't really strain the server on Kadokawa side and playing with puffin browser isn't that bad. Cause the 2nd time I reenter the game, I use even less data than the first time I went into the game. But, yeah I wouldn't recommend playing on mobile devices. It's still a risk nevertheless.

Now, you just have to deal another blow to me huh. Ahaha. Still no Taihou here. ;-;

Kancolle has forever changed my perspective on naval warships. Never before that reading the story of sunken ships on Wikipedia has made my heart wrenched in sorrow like now cry.gif .
