If I'm not wrong, tweeters are supposed to be responsible for producing high frequency sounds (I think these makes the sound clearer and sharper). Logitech speakers do not have them, thus the sound produced is on the muffled side.  smile.gif

Logitech speakers usually incorporate the so called 'phase plug' technology into their full range drivers, which are supposed to be something similar to a tweeter, but I don't think it's as effective as an actual tweeter though..

Dun say like that lah, not pro or what lah, just that I spend a lot of time auditioning such speakers. As for 2.1 and 5.1 systems, if your preference is only straight stereo music, you shouldn't get a 5.1 systems as most 5.1 systems don't sound so great for normal music listening, if you're more into games and movies, you can consider getting a 5.1 system.

If you're looking for a good 2.1 system, so far I prefer AL MX5021, Aego M and Klipsch 2.1, these three are strong contenders for 2.1 systems. As for 5.1 systems, the best I've heard is Logitech Z-5500. I have't listened to AL FX5051 though, will give it an audition soon.

Wow~~ I have try the Q Acoustic 1010 in SS2 here... Excellent speaker... with excellent treble and middle... excellent "punch" of bass, with a soft bass... You can go and try it... <RM1,000's speaker...

The cons is the bass is too soft... it need to pair with a good subwoofer...

Altec MX5021 and CS21.. and Aego M (some people recommend it for its excellent mid-treble range sounds) could be under your consideration.. MX5021 and CS21 has more 'punch' that you want I suppose.. laugh.gif

I don't have the website for subwoofers, you need to get the catalogues from the shops directly and yeah, it's free, no need to worry. I guess if you're getting Aego M, I wouldn't recommend you to use with CS21 because both are in the same league. If you want the whole apartment rattle, better get Klipsch. That one got more low end kick. rclxms.gif

Awards? from who? laugh.gif they're more like reviews (and maybe awards) and recommendations for a specific model rather than for the whole company..

Awards are not that important. Logitech Z-2300 won a few awards but most of the forumers here dislike the sound so it's pretty subjective, we should be the ones deciding whether it is a good buy or not as no two person has the same musical taste. For example, if person A used classical music, person B used rock music and person C used jazz music to audition the speakers, three of them will have a different conclusion because no speakers can handle all musical sources that well. That's why the awards won don't really mean anything to me.

Honestly, if you want a good sound and a bass heavy subwoofer, it will definitely cost RM500 to RM900 for a good pair of 2.1 speakers. It won't be cheap. The best is for you to audition the speakers personally because being expensive doesn't mean that it is necessarily better. You'll be the judge of that.

I went to LYP today hoping to get a set of MX5021 at a reasonable price. But was I disappointed. I heard from some forumers that this model is being sold at around RM530. So, I asked around the shops to see if I was able to get the price. However, they were offering RM545-570.

One of the shop who offered me thr pricetag of RM545 even said, "At this price, I only earn RM10". Is it true? If it is, I should have just bought it at the area nearer to my place, instead of spending half my day to go down to LYP.. sad.gif

I hope to get enlightment regarding the prices of this MX5021.. icon_question.gif

Seriously? Which shop was that? You just asked for the price, or you bargained for it? I'm not good at bargaining. I went there and asked, but all of them told me its around RM560-570.... cry.gif

I'm using PSC805, a sub RM200 soundcard. It's much better than your integrated one if you are using a mid-high end speakers. smile.gif

EDIT: I just came back from Digital Mall. I'm once again disappointed. I asked a few shops(those shops which are displaying the MX5021), one of the shops told me it is RM570, while ALLIT was selling at RM563. Very disappointing. I'm beginning to give up finding the best bargains for the MX5021. I'll now either go for the AegoM or the S2.1MKII..

a ADA885 use on a onboard sound is a waste. no doubts, u definitely need a sound card my fren. from onboard upgrade to a good sound card, i think at least 30% and above improvement. smile.gif
