Jimmy's is the old one, the guide on Techenclave refers to the new one. The ones I did on mine are similar to the Techenclave guide with the exception of a few tweaks I thought sounded better.

I found another post, but it was in Cari forum and modded by Skydriver. And now I'm following exactly what he change in the satellite.

i am one of altec lansing user, i have 2 speaker sets of altec lansing, Atp3 and new one i bought last monday MX5021, the problem this new speaker I found is why the treble quite high, maybe it is because of my soundcard is it ? im using audigy value , atp3 i found more clearer compare to mx5021, but atp3 is the problem you cant play to loud

since i have read previous post, where can I buy audio cable , at sec14 can I find them ?

Recent MX5021 is not good anymore.. The diff can be heard if your atp3 is the old version.. Clarity wise atp3 wins but bass of course mx5021 la..

i found it on other review website about altec speakers

QUOTE
In a nutshell between the 11 tested speaker sets, mainly the two new Altec’s sets seduced us. The FX6121 is put on the side because of its high price justified by an exceptional sound quality. But in order to play or listen to music most of the people don’t need or want to spend that much money. And on the top of that you need to possess a top-of-the-range sound card like the Audigy or the Terratec.

From a pragmatic point of view, the CS 21 is the best speaker set as it has the best power rating/quality/price ratio of this comparative test. The MegaWorks 250D is also a good buy and has a different musical approach, so it is up to you to make a choice between the two of them.

In the cheaper set category (below 100 €) the Inspire T2900 is a fine choice but has a deficiency on the bass frequencies. Without this deficiency it would probably have had a golden award. With such cheap price and satellite quality, it is a shame that Creative Labs made this choice. But if you are not bothered with this bass management, this set is a good choice. The VS4121 suffer from the same problems as it has a very interesting design, but a noisy power supply and a disturbing buzzing sound. The only set which extricates itself from the rest is the 221 with an honourable quality and a low price.

as you can see the picture above

the score of sound quality is MX5021 is 6.5

compare to 6021 , which is 9

I think I had waste my money to by 5021 , just only add rm50 more to get 6021.

Your ear should be best judgement for both of this speaker, go audition before you buy. I have tested both MX5021 and FX6021 side by side before I bought MX5021, but finally I choose MX5021.

yeah I change my soundcard to Creative Sound Blaster X-fi Xtreme audio, RM250, has improve listening mp3, about 50% compare to my audigy value, only 2 bar of my speaker i can hear loud and clear.. now it is suites to my MX5021
If you have mid-range speaker.. go for mid-range to high end sound card.

I really like my friend's speaker , he has the old altec thx speaker 4.1 ,

However it's currently disconnected as I'm in movie + gaming mood ATM as the bass just don't sound as nice. But no doubt it's one of the best PC speakers for music clarity nod.gif

its not bad a speaker.
compared to the MX5021, its the exact opposite. it has a rather laid back sound, and warm midrange. basically, you might want to turn the bass knob all the way down if you're going to be listening to this speaker from near field, because the punch and mid bass will sound really overpowering. however, if listening from far, leaving the bass knob in middle (default) position will let you experience the 'sub-like' sound effects better.
this speaker cannot replace a complete sub-sat system, but heard from the correct position, distance and correct volume, you might actually get to hear some rather bassy action, akin to that of a small but tight sub
