QUOTE(clawhammer @ May 6 2008, 05:18 PM) Wow, junclj knows a lot of technical stuffs about sound. Does that mean when choosing speakers, we need to go for one which gives a higher frequency or the other way round? Choose a speaker just like choose a computer, if we know well about the details then you will get benefits from it. I now just realize that VS4121 maximum frequency just 15KHz, no wonder you guys say it treble is suck. |

I dunno how to say, see picture.Low Frequency ![]() High Frequency ![]() Low Frequency more to bass, high frequency more to treble. |

What I wanna ask is about the relationship between the sound quality and the frequency. Are our ears sensitive enough to differentiate the sound with frequency of 15Khz and 20Khz? |

You try adjust and play around the media player equalizer in your PC, the amplifier in the car or the equalizer of your house home theatre then you will know. One software you can use to test the frequency (Sony SoundForge). Sometimes you can use it to cut mobile phone mp3 ringtones. What I wanna ask is about the relationship between the sound quality and the frequency. Are our ears sensitive enough to differentiate the sound with frequency of 15Khz and 20Khz? |

I'm science student and i know this as well. use Sony Soundforge to test the frequency response of your speaker, you can download from HERE, this is demo version, V9.0e, you need some 'special' What I wanna ask is about the relationship between the sound quality and the frequency. Are our ears sensitive enough to differentiate the sound with frequency of 15Khz and 20Khz? I can hear the different between 15kHz-20khz by using this software and MX5021..for MX response stated in spec sheet, the frequency response is 30hz-22khz, but take note, the figure follow behind is very important, which is '-10dB' , means that at this 'corner frequency', 30hz and 22khz actually the level is decay -10dB already, so in actual music playback this frequency are mask by others frequency....i test it using soundforge and notice that the MX actual response is between 40hz and 18kHz(depends on room condition and location of audience), any frequency below or beyond it the level will decay very fast and u need to turn up the volume in order to hear it more clearly. But depends on people taste, i personally feel that the frequency beyond 16khz is amazing, not ear piercing, very smooth and airy, thats why i using the paragraphic EQ to boost 16khz to 20khz This post has been edited by coolkwc: May 10 2008, 05:28 PM |

Having a maximum frequency of 20khz doenst meant it is good either.I give u a buzzer that can reach 20khz, is that a good speaker? |
