i used to own altec lansing 2100 and it is the best speaker i've own. i sold it to get a logitech 5.1 and its nowhere near the quality of 2100. i wanted to get 5100 but its rare in australia. the closest thing i could get is 4100 but i wanted the fifth channel for movies

for my on-board soundcard , i can reduce the "hiss" sound by mute the microphone (input) .
just give it a try . |

AM2100 user here, i think 4100 is a better buy because the remote has more functions like bass level controller and etc..subwoofer is better also... i think i will go for 4100 if i were to buy speakers...
