Your sound card might be passing white noise / hiss to your VS4121 and also to its earphone connection. Try other speakers or connect the earphone directly to sound card to check. Some FX6021, MX5021 and VS4121 speakers have this annoying hiss, maybe because of the low SNR of these speakers.

VS4121 has a signal to noise ratio of 73dB. It's very low and can easily produce white noice/hiss unless your soundcard has really 0dB hiss. You can also check your VS4121 by hooking it straight into any dvd or cd or mp3 player and check if it really generates hiss.

Try The AL VS3151 r..Dunno if they alredi stop selling it but its not too bad for a 5.1

i have been using it 4 the past 7 months n i have to admit that 4 decent price at that time this was a good buy

The satelites are rather decent, but the centre speaker a lil bit under power laa...Woofer aso so so cuz its a friggin small unit..

Compared to the Edifier R501 Mk11 this unit has a better finishing and a more visible surround sound effect thou wen it comes to bass the edifier eats this woofer up

But if ur into movies n music ony than the

Altec Lansing Vs 3151r is a slightly better choice

P S : The Hissing Sound is Exists in this set aso...I think Altec alredi add the hissing sound as part of their new speaker set up redi

Check out this link 4 info on the 3151r

go for aego m 2.1.

Hi guys, the picture below is my current setup.

As the woofer is actually sitting on a wooded platform under the table, will its position affect the woofer's performance? If so, how would you all recommend me to relocate my woofer? Currently using VS4121. Thanks in advance. smile.gif

Btw, I'm planning to buy Philips PSC805. Is it advisable for me to upgrade to this soundcard?(currently using on-board soundcard). Will a better soundcard give a boost to my speaker's performance? smile.gif

ur woofer should not be placed in a closed area especially under the table. most of the ppl do this mistake.. they think the scene of table shaking when u listening to the songs is cool.. sigh.. cry.gif
try to put the woofer at the open space.

my friend pairs up aurilium with vs4121... it did improve the sound, especially the bass, tighter..
but overall it's not a very significant improvement..

basicaly, different soundcard, different usage, different sound :
aurilium -> pure music
SB series -> gaming

i think better if u put ur sub on the floor, not the table. for soundcard, if u dont want to upgrade ur speaker soon, no need to change the soundcard. i tried vs4121+psc805 before, just a little improvement only. not worth for rm200

I see. Thanks for commenting on my setup, yeahs4.1 and chocobee_2707. Will try to rearrange my setup as my woofer is producing humming sound when music is played..

Also, if I'm going to upgrade my speakers, which model do you all recommend? I will mostly listen to music and also watching movies plus a bit of gaming. smile.gif
