Hi guys, the picture below is my current setup.

As the woofer is actually sitting on a wooded platform under the table, will its position affect the woofer's performance? If so, how would you all recommend me to relocate my woofer? Currently using VS4121. Thanks in advance.  smile.gif

Btw, I'm planning to buy Philips PSC805. Is it advisable for me to upgrade to this soundcard?(currently using on-board soundcard). Will a better soundcard give a boost to my speaker's performance?  smile.gif

ur woofer should not be placed in a closed area especially under the table. most of the ppl do this mistake.. they think the scene of table shaking when u listening to the songs is cool.. sigh.. cry.gif
try to put the woofer at the open space.

my friend pairs up aurilium with vs4121... it did improve the sound, especially the bass, tighter..
but overall it's not a very significant improvement..

basicaly, different soundcard, different usage, different sound :
aurilium -> pure music
SB series -> gaming

i think he said laptop doesnt have a decent soundcard. laptop uses on board soundcard. the sound quality is bad compared to others soundcard that pluged into those desktop's slot. so, there is a solution for laptop user which is using ac external soundcard via usb connection.

LD2+ is a pre-amp, correct me if i'm mistaken.
I wanted to test it out also, going to loan from yeah_guyz see he want to borrow or not.
If he don't want, then it can't be helped already, i'll just rob him.  brows.gif

LD2+ can be pre-amp and headphone amp

LD2+ is a headamp, and it can be used as pre-amp too. the primary usage of ld2+ is still a headamp although it can be used as pre-amp.

anyway, it's not recommended to use a pre-amp to power up an active speaker. active speaker already came with built-in amp to power them up with sufficient gain. adding another pre-amp may over-amplify the multimedia speaker and then cause the sound to become over-whelming. however, i have tried using ld2+ as pre-amp with my s4.1. the pre-amp of ld2+ seems to be quite low-powered and it introduced some 'warm' (valve) sound to my speaker. eventually they sounded nice to my ear.
