I have the A118/B40 dash cam. While the 170 degrees angle are great, but I find the video tends to wrap/curved towards the extreme left and right of the video, like a fish-eye effect. This is very noticeable when you are facing any straight line structures like walls (parking or building wall) or fences, you can see the wall/fence lines curved a bit. This is the price you pay for having a really wide angle lens.

I also have the G1W-CB. This is only 120 degrees angle, but I find the video to be slightly better, all straight lines with no curving or fisheye effect, but the disadvantage of this model is that the camera is very visible and not discrete at all. The A118/B40 is completely hidden when installed (when placed behind the rear view mirror) and nobody would know that it is there. Both have theirs pro's and con's.

Thanks for the tip. The G1W video quality is very good, in terms of video, not build. I actually bought the mini 0805, want to try a different chipset than novatek. Little bit more discreet compared to the G1W. I'll get the A118 cam for the rear.

I also have bought from Foxoffer, and got my parcel rejected by Customs and returned to SG. I called KLIA customs to find out why, they said when Customs inspected the package, they discovered the packaged has been "opened and tampered with". I dont know what that means. Lucky for me, I bought from Foxoffer via ebay, so I was able to get my refund within 45 days via ebay resolution. Foxoffer initially wanted to wait until the returned parcel reached them before they give the refund, which would take a long time, but this is why it is good to buy from Foxoffer not through their website, but through ebay, because we can use ebay's dispute resolution as a safeguard for our purchase. I filed claimed through ebay and got refund almost immediately. Foxoffer is still a good company/seller and offers great prices, I will buy from them again, but not directly from their website, but through ebay. Their ebay ID is foxoffer1 or something.

If remember correctly, can press a button to mute the mic...

Be careful as there is fake G1W in the market... Always buy from trusted sellers...

Yes you can use the Xiaomi Yi as a dashcam but do know that it's an action cam and don't have functions of a dashcam like the write protect files with a button, etc...

Edited - Thanks to @wordtalks for pointing out that the Yi action cam have the G sensor and loop recording...

I have purchased from Foxoffer1 before, and the first parcel arrived safely and quite fast. The second one got stuck at customs. I dont know if it is a syndicate or not, but it is sure inconvenient, not to mention the extra long waiting time. Luckily I bought through ebay, at least I have some protection and can get my money back faster.

Bought from both Foxoffer and Gearbest before, I would recommend either one, whichever is cheaper. But both will take almost 1 month to arrive if using the free shipping. So please be patient smile.gif

BTW, I got an extra set of super long cigar lighter charger cable and a voltage reduce for hidden cable routing to let go. Do PM me if anyone is interested.

Thanks
