Viofo A129 Duo doesn't have pre-buffering... Yet... But they are getting close...

The best true parking mode dashcams are from Korea like Blackvue, Thinkware, etc...
*
Still not so understand.. Pre buffering meaning it record 10 sec after triggered motion /vibration right?
Viofo motion work how? It only take pic when triggered motion without recording or 10sec?

QUOTE(blurjoey @ Jan 27 2019, 01:22 PM)
I got reviewed the F200... I'm using the F800 Pro since it launched in Malaysia...

There is nothing similar function to a Korean dashcam (iRoad) with a cheaper price...

Anyway, iRoad have high warranty claim rate, so I think you better think think 1st...
*
So F200 better than iroad? Seems both price similar rite?

Motion Detection Setting
Motion detection is the most popular parked recording mode. The camera is continuously recording to its memory so nothing is lost but only saves that video to the memory card when motion is detected.

Sensitivity Adjustment
Ideally, you want a camera that can control the detection sensitivity so you can fine tune it to a setting where it captures people and cars but not smaller objects like birds.

Buffered Recording
In advanced models, the 5-10 seconds prior to the motion being triggered are also saved to the memory card. This is useful if the motion is detected late or there are conversations happening off screen. A buffered recording is not required but it’s a nice feature to have.

Timelapse Mode
Timelapse records a video frame every 1/10/X number of seconds. This avoids any failures which can happen with motion detection, especially under low light. The downside is that you may miss details like license plates depending on speed. As well no audio is captured which could identify people who may have damaged your vehicle.

G-sensor Trigger
In most dash cameras the G-Sensor is always running. When an impact is detected most cameras will switch back to normal recording.

Pre-buffering = buffered recording. So you can see what happening 5-10 seconds before the incident.

iRoad I know have QC issues as there are lots of warranty claims due to something going faulty.

I received the xiaoyi dashcam as my christmas present.

1920x1080p @ 30fps
1920x1080p @ 60fps
2304x1296p @ 30fps

Which setting should I actually go for?
I tried 2304x1296p @ 30fps but couldn't really see the number plate clearly.

Got sample? Usually while moving it's hard to read no matter what resolution. Night time is harder.

It will record, say 5 or 10 seconds before impact, etc.
For Viofo, it will only start recording during impact, so you have no idea how the accident happens.
That’s why Korean DVR true parking mode is superior to Chinese DVR.

iRoad X9 funtions are superior than F200, as F200 is the cheaper range of Thinkware. The similarly specced Thinkware to X9 is F800 Pro, but it costs about 2k while X9 is less than 1.5k.
But the build qualiy of iRoad is still below Thinkware and Blackvue

Actually, the F800 Pro is a higher range and has more functions than the iRoad X9.

The F200 is Thinkware's low-range to cater to the budget conscious.

If you want to compare the iRoad X9 to Thinkware then I would say it's a little bit beneath the X550 (Thinkware's mid-range) as the X550 has an extra feature, Smart Camera Alert which works in Malaysia since last year October/November.

Even the iRoad TX9 with its 3K QHD resolution, I would put it at the same level as the F770 more.

But I've tested the TX9's ADAS and it's almost as accurate as Thinkware's. I didn't like the proprietary file format, JDR, that iRoad uses. Only can watch the files using their own player or app. And some other stuffs.

Anyway, iRoad in Korea is considered to be a "budget" dashcam in the Korean market.

thanks for the explanation.. meaning example a car hit you, with viofo only after bang and saw the car leaving.. for thinkware, it will saw the car hit your car.. meaning it something like standby recording all the time and safe the file once triggered.

Thanks for the correction.
One thing that keep me away from iRoad is the proprietary file format, but the lower price range over Thinkware and Blackvue is quite a plus point.
Quite a numbers of Mazda CX-5 owners installed X9 as it is priced in between China DVR (Viofo, Mini 0906, etc) and Korean DVR (Thinkware, Blackvue) but still get the superior Korean DVR true parking mode.

I know the USB wifi burns out easily for X9. Cause a friend who used to sells iRoad have given up as too many came back spoilt.

iRoad actually copies Thinkware a lot. Even using the same head for the power on the dashcam.

F70 is on par with F200 front cam. Other than that it's a basic cam.

F200 is good dual dashcams with true parking mode. But the rear cam is 720p only. You'll need to get the GPS module if you want to use the Smart Camera Alert.

If you're in Klang, I know Shorty5 shop sell and do the installation for F200.
There's another shop in PJ, but I can't remember that also sell and install F200.

You can try searching for these shops in FB too

Sicurez is the authorized distributor for Thinkware in Malaysia.

EA Auto sells Thinkware as Sicurez's authorized seller/installer also a few others in KL. Got others in Johor and Penang if not mistaken.
