But Lucas does read the game well. Perhaps mental and physical fatigue has slowly taken it's toll on him. Or maybe he has become disenchanted with the prospect of playing for Liverpool which has been quite a trend with foreign players lately i.e. Reina, Skrtel etc.

I think both Allen and Hendo can do a job in midfield especially the former. Hendo has great engine but he can't bring the ball forward like Allen can. Both players have their strengths and weaknesses. With Alonso, i'm not sure how we will accommodate him. As he will essentially play in the same role as Gerrard. Do we rotate them? And will they be so open to the idea with World Cup around the corner ?
*
Got to disagree with that part there, I don't think Hendo couldn't bring the ball forward, most probably he's just been restricted to do so by BR. Look back at last season, he did bring the ball forward and support the whole attack process, just this season he's been staying at the middle and holding both side of the pitch.

I'm not saying he can't bring the ball forward at all. Just that he's not as good as Allen when it comes to bringing the ball forward at pace. Take a look at this clip here at 38 secs mark and onwards. It's that kind of directness and attacking mentality that i'm referring to.

The whole video showing what he did during his time at Swansea, I am sorry to say that but he did not do all those during his time at Liverpool, he tend to hold the midfield and do side way passing most of the time. And I don't blame him, it could be BR again restricting the player. He did showed some great offensive ability just before he injured, but I just don't see his position if we bring in another midfield during Jan transfer.

That's because he was used more as a defensive midfielder when Lucas was recovering from injury. He wasn't bought for his defensive quality but more for his ability on the ball and he hasn't really been given the chance to fulfill that role. I hope he gets his chance this season because imo, he's a natural central midfielder where as Hendo is more like a utility player.

Dont sell anyone. Well, just dont buy anyone either. tongue.gif

Save up for quality player rather than filling the quantity for the sake of filling it.

Dont reinvent the wheel that is currently working until it is worth investing further.

Gosh, really no accountant here? All IT, Sales, Marketing?

WHAT?  shocking.gif You forgot Coutinho and Alberto? And even Moses can play there. Erm...Aspas too. Why waste more money for no reason?

I know some of us will jump in and say "But Alberto is not a 1st team player". if you never give a chance to that Alberto lad, he will never be first team potentiall at all.

Plus, Who can replace Coutinho at this current form? And who will come to LFC in January just to sit on the bench?

Dont waste money la.

I am assuming rodgers plays three midfielders.one would be the deep lying playmaker that is alonso and coutinho as no.10.which leaves the box to box position vacant.Alberto is a playmaker.Deep or advanced I cant tell because he has hardly played but he is not a box to box player.

If rodgers wants to play 433 he has a lot of issues to solve.

What about Hendo and Allen the Joe? I mean dont get me wrong. I love spending if we have bottomless kitty but it aint that case over here.

We need to spend smart in LFC. Throwing away funds is not an option.

I prefer us saving up for quality players. If we dont need any, we dont sign any.

If we have extra cash, then come next summer, we are loaded with budget. That's when we push for title after achieving top 4 this season.

So money is important for future agenda as well.

If you consider mobile phones as gift, then yes. biggrin.gif

That one is nothing compare to the nickname I have given to Mkhitaryan and Sakho. I was so lazy to address them properly, I simply call them Yan Yan and Mama. LOL

At least Botak Jon sounds good among all.

And our tiki taka, I renamed it to kiki-lala.

Woah, thinking back, i have created alot of nicknames. Shites.

Erm... Personally I don't think signing Xabi Alonso is going to solve all of our midfield problems. I mean I love Xabi, would really like to see him back but I think the main problem is that our midfield is lacking "legs", not enough closing down. Part of that is down to Gerrard, now that he is older, he don't have the stamina to close down opposition players like Hendo does. Lucas is also not back to his best, I like him a lot but I'm not sure if he ever will get back to his best. At his best he used to be snapping at the heels of opposition players everytime they get the ball. Xabi is also getting older, can't see him closing down players as well, in fact he was never that kind of player even in his prime.

I think both Hendo and Allen will give more bite to our midfield defensively if they play in Gerrard's deeper position, but we can't just drop Gerrard, he is our captain. It is not so simple as that. So I'm not sure how we can solve this.

I remember when i play for my school, i always like to play midfield, as I have the passing range long and short, i can shoot and can take set pieces, i can see the channel to pick a pass, but..my actual position is between the post...yes i am the keeper...the thing is, i can play ball but dont have the stamina and tackling ability to be position in the middle, i cant rough it up in the middle of the park - which is crucial, that's why its the engine room - the attack starts from midfield and the defending too...and due to my lack of stamina, my tracking back is sometimes none existence, especially if our attack breaks down deep in the opposition half....as opposition launch their counter attacks, chasing back is all but futile...and due to this stamina issue especially the midfielders, its a delicate balance between whether to attack in the 1st half or wait for 2nd half..attack 1st, would drain your energy for 2nd half and vice versa. It is also the reason why makelele was such a revered midfielder, given his age, his stamina is unbelievable...a trait which unfortunately not god given to SG...altho hendo do look like an energizer bunny, but his lack of experience is why BR tend to hold him back..but since hendo and allen are both young lads, so too is lucas...once they mature in the next 1-2 years time, our midfield will become a forte again...and if, we could hold on to Suarez by then, we potentially could challenge for title, as the defense is looking good too...its a team i could see having 70% of the spine need to be a top top team in england, probably another 30% for game changers, we are as good as anyone...at least this is my evaluation of the team...

People like Hendo is not appreciated much but in long term, it is vital for the club because he can fill in any part and still do a decent job. Role like this is of course very much underappreciated as compared to Allen's role of attacking and spreading passes to create chances. However, imo, if there is one to sacrifice between Allen, Lucas and Hendo, I would pick Allen and if Allen starts performing, I would then sacrifice Lucas. I would save Hendo last because very much like Kolo Toure who can fill RB, CB and DM, these are the players that who can give a lot more than the other. He reminds me a little of young gerrard who plays RB, RW, LW, CM , DM and moves to AM and then SS under rafa. They are important.

Lucas can be sacrificed mainly because if(and ONLY IF) Alonso is coming, he would have spend more time on bench since Gerrard and Alonso would be rotating the the deep lying role. We would also have Toure, Sakho and Agger all being capable of playing at DM.

But like I said, it all starts with IF and ended up with nothing usually. Doubt Alonso will be coming but if he did, it would be a great lift to the way now that we have a midfield general who can dictate play more effectively that anyone in the squad.

As a matter of fact, I think we actually need to get someone in to keep the competition fierce. More often than not the players get complacent and lose posession in the middle of the park during the second half. This has to be addressed because we wont get lucky everytime by keep defending for the 2nd 45minutes.

And if anyone is naive enough to think that Skrtel is staying after putting in zsome good performance lately, forget it. Downing played well second half of last season and still ended up being sold. I would assume that Skrtel would be gone comes January and the likes of Wisdom, Kelly, Ilori would fight for the spot
